HORSEMEN |
|
Grantland Rice.
Did he ride a horse?.......................
He wrote the Four Horsemen article.
- No. Even Darwin never figured on her.
The Four Horsemen now have a riding companion.
There's War, Famine, Death, Pestilence and Miss Timberlake.
Probably saw, but don’t recall, that Doris Day/Cary Grant flick.
So I guess there ARE animals in Heaven.
And the lion will lie down with the lamb.
Indeed.
The Greek word that is used for “pale” as in “Pale Horse” is “χλωρός” (chloros) which actually means the color of pale green. Some of the artists took that into consideration.
I am sure that Bible Translators have difficulty discussing a green horse, so they just kept the “pale” part.
However, Green is a very evocative color in these End Times. Most obviously, it could symbolize the “Green” Movement, which actively seeks to rob people of their energy sources, their livelihoods, and any progress in a Civilization or Culture.
Less obviously, Green is reported to have been Mohammed’s favorite color. Most of the flags of Islamic States are green or have green in them.
A Green Horse must have puzzled Bible Translators for Centuries. How could the color Green, which symbolizes life also mean DEATH?
Here are some ironies:
Clorox kills germs. Germs are living things, much as we don’t like them.
Chlorine Gas is Deadly.
Chloroform can put you to sleep, or even kill you.
Here’s is the STRONG’S entry for χλωρός.

Some wonderful images. I especially like #1 by Vasnetsov and the wonderful Watts (11,12,13,14). As always Dore’ is superb! Johnson at #20 and the terrifying image at #30...
Check out the ghostly green horse and rider at the end of this video. Did you see it?

Cool! Thank you.
I have been a Rock Musician for 55 years and never heard this song. WOW!
Love the hammond B3, by the way. :-)
Same Chord Progression (4 of the 4 resolving back to 1) that is the ending of “Hey Jude” and, of course, “Sympathy for the Devil”.
When I teach Music Theory, I describe that progression on the Circle of Fifths as “Inviting your Quirky, Retro Neighbors over to your family BBQ.” The “4 of the 4” is not a member of the family, but he adds some spice to the gathering. :-)
It is used VERY effectively in that song. THANK YOU! :-)
A true classic!
Miss Timberlake, the “kitten” who is the destroyer of worlds:
“Cathy, you have rare qualities. You’re direct, sincere, uncomplicated, the type of woman who brings out the worst in a man — his conscience.”
Veeeery interesting. Thanks for that education.
My Pleasure!
I love to share.
