28:1-10 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” | 16:1-8 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus’ body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, “Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?” But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. “Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, ‘He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.’” Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. | 24:1-10 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’ ” Then they remembered his words. When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles. |

Reubens paints fat angels...........................
It seems that pretty much every time an Angel appears in The Bible, the first words out of his mouth boil down to ‘Don’t be skeered’...
bttt
They ain’t fat they’re Rubenesque...
“He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.”
Reubens liked his women on the chunky side.....................
That’s true. It’s the least they can do, considering the skeeriness of the encounter.
They had the front-row seats of all front-row seats.
Good Morning, Dan.
Reminds me of a day when I was looking for a nice belt at a Harley Dealership. In the “Women’s Motorclothes Department” all the belts were too small. I asked a salesgirl (a skinny little waif of a girl) if they had any larger. She practically sneered at me and said that they DON’T carry anything in my size.
I sneered back at her and said “It’s takes a substantial woman to hold up a Superglide!”
She shut right up at that. Then I found exactly what I wanted in the “Men’s Motorclothes Department.”
I suppose Ruebens would find me attractive, if he doesn’t mind that I ride a Harley and play the bass. LOL! :-)
And morning greetings to you as well, Mary-Lou!
My wife rides a Ultra-Glide............................
Can you even imagine?
Awesome! Do you go on trips together? That was the joy of my life when my hubby was alive. Rolling Thunder, Colonial Parkway, Appalachians, Kangamangus, Blue Ridge Parkway, Daytona, Laconia, Gulf Coast, you name it. :-)
Yes, when the weather is nice, which it hasn’t been a lot lately, with hurricanes and such, like today it’s pouring rain here in Florida Panhandle Ft. Walton Beach.
I ride a Yamaha, but we have a Suzuki and Hondas too..............
And imagine being Matthew and interviewing them, extracting the angel’s quote you posted....
I’ve had three Hondas over the years. The first two, a 68CB175, and a 71 CB350, are now considered Classics. I wish I still had them. The CX650 I had was shaped like a Moto-Guzzi with a transversal V-Twin and it was too top-heavy for me. Then I had a Sportster (1100) and my current bike a 93 FXR Superglide.
I have also ridden an FLH UltraClassic, and a bunch of British bikes back in the 70’s. I LOVE riding.
Have you noticed how LOUD the tires sound on the FL. Turnpike? I’d rather take I95 and the Bee-Line to get to Orlando, as 3.5 hours on that noisy pavement probably ruined my hearing for life. Plus they were charging $13.00 PER BIKE to go from Pompano to Orlando. $26.00 just to ride on a road? Yeesh!
We avoid toll roads if possible.
My first bike was a 1974 Honda CB360. I rode that bike all over Southern California and TJ when I was stationed
at 29 Palms in ‘73.......................
