MATTHEW
8:1-4
When Jesus came down from the mountainside, large crowds followed him. A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately he was cleansed of his leprosy. Then Jesus said to him, “See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
MARK
1:40-45A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
LUKE
5:12-16While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” And immediately the leprosy left him.
Then Jesus ordered him, “Don’t tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses. But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Interesting post but the Icons that the Eastern Orthodox pray in front of were depictions of events from Christ’s life and through those Icons that was how the Bible was spread when there was only the Church and no Bible and the masses could not read. Many of the scenes that you have Here have Icons depicting them and because of the rules surrounding Icons of the Eastern Church what you will see have been done by the early Christians. A little tidbit of information is that the very first Icon ever was attributed to the Apostle Luke.
#23 is part of a larger painting that also shows the Sermon of the Mount by Cosimo Rosselli, a 15th c. Florentine artist. It is on a wall of the Sistine Chapel.
The Democrats would have sent him into nursing homes to infect the others.
If the tidbit about Luke is true, an already-fascinating believer becomes all the more admirable: accompanies Paul, writes his Gospel and Acts, and now goes multi-media.
When you write “It is on a wall of the Sistine Chapel”, I am bound to ask: is it a fresco, or on canvas? To my untrained eye, it doesn’t appear frescoish.
Good Morning, Dan! I just read Luke 5 this morning! :-)
Fresco, Dan. You can have an idea of the art distributed on ceiling and walls. Cosimo is just one of several artists who contributed in painting the Sistine Chapel.
I won’t ask you which version you’ve read today was more colorful or visually interesting and entertaining, because ultimately the Holy Spirit is behind both. But answer me this: Which version permits you to type out responses and interact with fellow believers, eh?
Right now, the J-Thread is the (Old) NIV, but, originally on the Thread I used the New American Standard Version, which was the first Bible given to me when I was Born Again. However, when I got to Psalms and Proverbs, I switched to the King James because I like the poetry of the translation.
I’m careful about more modern translations (including the newer NIV) because of the “politically correct” language.
If the One True God chooses to reveal Himself to His Created beings as “Father”, who am I to argue?
My goal in life is to change and grow to conform to God’s Word, not change God’s Word to conform to ME.
(((I hope that was helpful!)))
Well, Dan, all you have to do is ask.....
The painting on the right shows the moment when Jesus gives Peter the keys of the Kingdom, painted by Perugino.
My paper Bible is the ‘84 NIV, but that version has all but disappeared online. Someone sent me a link the other day; although it is usable, it’s a bit awkward to use. May I ask your source, please?
A noble and, sad to say, vanishing sentiment.
When I finally post my Sistine thread a year from now, methinks you could be a busy bee, acting as our tour guide.
I use Bible Gateway. Although it is just labeled “NIV” I know it’s the earlier one because of the non-woke language.
It say’s “Father”, not “Parent”.
