So, what is New? Sphinchter always was and always will be a RAT! It’s good to know that a real Republican has scared the pee out of this Traitor! Hoping to see Sphincter now challenged in the RAT Party, maybe Prissy Chrissy will give Sphinchter a tingle or two:-) Maybe the Good Lord will do Us All a Favor before 2010?

it’s damn past time that the GOP gets a set and starts taking the fight to the LEFT!

it’s waaaaaaaaaaay past time for Americans to “take back America!” And “take out the trash!”

Let's be honest, Zell Miller should have been a Republican at the end.

Miller was the keynote speaker at the Repub convention in 2004. The thought occurred to me that Specter might want to do the same at the Dem 2012 convention, that is, a Repub blasting the R party, but he saw he was going to lose.

So, you mean he is going to finally become a Republican? Thank God, I was getting tired of him getting the support of the RNC, while they didn’t get his support in return! So, that money finally pans out as a good investment!

Wait, what do you mean his is “switching” to the Democrat party? Sorry, I am confused! Can someone explain?

Good. Let’s put the cards on the table so there aren’t these hidden democrats in the republican party.

Let’s now invite Snowe, Collins, McCain, etc. to switch over as well.

Give America a choice between a liberal and a conservative party. And let the liberals own the results of their agenda so all can see.

Exactly!

Reagan demonstrated that inclusiveness DOES NOT rule out exclusion. The Reagan Revolution was based on Democrats and Independents joining based on CONSERVATIVE principles, not some Eurosocialist-style coalition where opposing factions fight, bargain and compromise over the platform.

“Not so fast...”if” the Gelding Old Party gets a testicle & spine implant before next year, they will be able to begin to retake the House and/or Senate...and “maybe” when & if they do retake either or both houses, they will do a better job of leadership than they did the last time they were in the Majority.”

True, but between now and then, the damage that will be done is immense. Without the threat of a filibuster, universal health care and cap & trade (and many other devastating bills) are a foregone conclusion.

Reconciliation could have still worked to pass these but they would have been politically unpopular and restricted to the 10 year rule...we could have at least somewhat neutered a few of the bills.

That is all lost now assuming Specter will vote for cloture with the Dems, and I do not doubt that he will otherwise he would have gone independent. Someone set the conditions for his switch for him to go all the way Dem. The back alley deals are sickening.

Very, very wrong... but somehow it seems appropriate for Senator Specter today

Desperate old man. Getting his @$$ kicked in the Republican race, so he switches. Just retire you old fool.

Spector said he surveyed the GOP block and felt he had no chance in winning. WHAT A DAMN JOKE! Isn't this a convenient decision? Guess we are not supposed to FOCUS on Barry's Air Force one *TERROR ATTACK* ON New Yorkers.

When you’re older than dirt, it’s time to leave the Senate, go flyfishing, yell at the grandkids for changing your TV channel, and just chill. Most of the antiquated Senators this applies to now are Dems (including Specter); I’d have the same advice for Ted Stevens, though, if he were still there. I know he was—kind of—liberal on social issues, and was no friend of evangelicals, but it’s astonishing that the same man who fought so heroically for Clarence Thomas (he did vote against Bork, I know) jumped the aisle.
