Senator Specter’s payoff for betraying his party: betrayal of his state

We now know one of the payoffs that Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter received for being one of three Republican Senators who allowed President Obama’s trillion-dollar Spendulus bill to become law. WPXI in Pittsburgh reports that Specter has a 5.5 million dollar earmark for the crescent-shaped Flight 93 memorial in the omnibus spending bill just passed by the Senate.

Much as the people of Pennsylvania want to see a fitting memorial built, they yanked support for the crescent design in August 2007 after Tom Burnett Sr., father of Flight 93 hero Tom Jr., started warning the country that the memorial design is STILL packed to the gills with Islamic symbolism. Since that time the Memorial Project has hardly raised a dime, and a September 2007 interview with State Senator Jane Orie, who sponsors the Hearts of Steel memorial fund, makes clear that concerns about Islamic symbolism predominate. Here is her exchange with Pittsburgh talk-radio host Fred Honsberger: ....

Another sleazy high watermark of Specter’s career goes back 30 years when he aggressively defended the murderer (and founder of “Earth Day”, Ira Einhorn, a classically psychopathic Leftist) when Einhorn was charged with the murder of a former girlfriend Holly Maddux, whose mummified body
was found crammed into a suitcase in Einhorn’s closet. Specter argued for a far lower bail (down to 40K,from 100K)
and assured the judge Einhorn was not a flight risk, which the judge believed he was. Well, Einhorn put up the requisite $4K —10%— and did indeed flee to Sweden, not Norway, as the Judge speculated. Specter was running for Senator at the time, and put himself at the service of Einhorn to cultivate favor with Philadelphia’s Left social/political elites, whose votes and influence he needed to become Senator Specter, and the rest is history.
He is one of the foulest, most unethical politicians in this compromised land of ours.

So let me get this straight. His constituents didn’t want a crescent shaped memorial, so instead of listening, he betrays them and the rest of the country to get it anyway?

PLEASE, SOMEONE PING ME WHEN THEY HAVE SOMEONE RUNNING AGAINST SPECTOR IN THE PRIMARY SO I CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THEIR PERSONAL CAMPAIGN. NOT THE RNC, THE INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATE’S CAMPAIGN.

Thank you

I think Specter is going to jump across the aisle and become a Dem. It’s the only way he will be able to keep his seat in the 2010 election. He would have a tough time beating Tommey in the GOP primary, and if he managed to do that it would be near impossible for him to win the general election as conservatives would withhold their votes for him.

In April 2006, he was selected by Time as one of “America’s 10 Best Senators”.

That figures.
