Pat Toomey resigned yesterday as president of the anti-tax Club for Growth, clearing the decks for his expected primary challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter (R., Pa.).
The advocacy group said in a statement that Toomey was leaving to "pursue other opportunities." Former Rep. Chris Chocola (R., Ind.) will be the group's new president.
A former congressman from the Lehigh Valley, Toomey has been acting like a Senate candidate for weeks, traveling the state and criticizing Specter's recent votes in favor of federal economic-stimulus and bailout spending. Specter, meanwhile, has aired TV ads highlighting Toomey's past as a Wall Street derivatives trader and proponent of financial-industry deregulation.

All these years of self-serving legislating, only to go down in flaming defeat.
Maybe Club For Growth can buy him a ticket back to Kansas.
Have you seen the anti Toomey commercials Specter has been running? They’re hard hitting. Shows that Specter is really concerned about this run. Good.
I haven't, but I did hear about them.

Cool, hope ‘Arleene’ is to scared to run for re-election....he could cite mental health reasons as the reason not to seek re-election as total scum.
Me too, got a list of 10 candidates I'll be contributing to, he's now the 10th on the list, so far (no RNC for me). As for Spector's ads go, just run his record and show is votes and committee activities ... should wipe himself out with that. If people wanted a Democrat, they would have voted for one. I'm tired of voting for Republicans that act like Dems ... so I'm targeting what little money I can spend.
