Arlen Specters office/The Lid ^ | 4/28/09 | The Lid

Fox News has confirmed the rumor first posed on Human Events. Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter has announced that he will run for re-election as a DEMOCRAT, RINO No MORE.

Several officials say veteran Republican Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania intends to switch parties, advancing his own hopes of winning a new term next year while pushing Democrats one step closer to a 60-vote filibuster-resistant majority. The sources said an announcement could come later in the day—or Wednesday. The officials who provided the information did so on condition of anonymity, saying they were not authorized to discuss his plans. The reason for the switch is that Senator does not believe that he can win the Republican nomination.

Specter lost the support of many of his constituents and his Republican colleagues when he switched sides on the famous porkulus bill creating Americas largest deficit ever.

Specter's Statement below:

Don't let the screen door hit ya’, Arlen.

Democrats aren't going to like you any better, but they will toast you at the cocktail party this weekend.

Just goes to show, without a shadow of doubt, that whores like Spector do what is expedient in getting them re-elected. Their true beliefs and party platforms are irrelvant. Their only goal is suckling at the public teet.

Message to RNC: This is what you get when you support RINOs in primaries instead of full-throated conservatives -- high mantenance drama queens who stab you in the back at every opportunity. NO MORE RINOs!!!

I’m not surprised. This is how we got to where we are today. More Rhinos than anything else.

It has become clear to me that the stimulus vote caused a schism which makes our differences irreconcilable. On this state of the record, I am unwilling to have my twenty-nine year Senate record judged by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate.

In other words: "I was going to lose because I'm a duplicitous bastard. I had to do something!"

ALL of this comes down to the LARGE shift of registered voters to the Dems in the CLOSED Republican Primaries for 2010.

The Republican Primaries in Pa will be dominated by CONSERVATIVE VOTERS, who did not switch to vote for Obama, and those Repub Hillary voters who will switch back.

The moderates WILL NOT in a mid-term, and Spector knows it.s
