True, but between now and then, the damage that will be done is immense. Without the threat of a filibuster, universal health care and cap & trade (and many other devastating bills) are a foregone conclusion.

Reconciliation could have still worked to pass these but they would have been politically unpopular and restricted to the 10 year rule...we could have at least somewhat neutered a few of the bills.

That is all lost now assuming Specter will vote for cloture with the Dems, and I do not doubt that he will otherwise he would have gone independent. Someone set the conditions for his switch for him to go all the way Dem. The back alley deals are sickening.

Everything that is happening between now & 2010, except for any Supreme Court appointments, can be changed...it's just up to the GOP and every conservative in the country to do all he & she can to make sure that this whole mess comes to a screeching halt.
