A crowd of several hundred people, egged on by some of Harrisburg's leading conservative lawmakers, are gathering in the Capitol Rotunda this noon to protest what they say is a total usurpation of states' 10th Amendment rights by Washington.
"We stand here today not because we have nothing else to do. We stand her today because we have nothing more important to do," Rep. Sam Rohrer, R-Berks, and the day's emcee just bellowed at a crowd representing a veritable cross-section of angry, middle-aged white people.

One and the same. I suppose the irony is the document is still mostly intact and can be used by The States and The People whenever they feel compelled to reassert their sovereignty. Of course the feral leviathan won't give up its usurped powers without some prodding by the serfs.

I know I wrote my two dimwit Senators tonight. I’d encourage everyone else to do the same.
This is the rally I’d like to see in the Dallas area! States rights cannot be stressed enough at this time.
Some state lawmakers held a rally in Harrisburg today to take aim at the federal government. They say Washington is overstepping its authority and making too many decisions for the states. WFMZ's Joel D. Smith has more from Harrisburg on why an old amendment is the rallying cry for so many Republicans.
Unknown: We are ordering Congress to cease and desist of any activity that falls outside of the scope of the inumerated powers that we the people gave Congress.
Reporter: He's describing the tenth amendment, and in Oklahoma and many other states, local politicians are passing resolutions to reaffirm its meaning. The breaking point? The federal stimulus package bringing billions of dollars to the states.... with very specific guidelines. They don't want the Pennsylvania to accept it.
Mike Folmer: With the strings attached to the federal stimulus package, states must reassert their powers more than ever given to them by their founding fathers.
Reporter: It is mostly a Republican backed resolution.. introduced by State Representative Sam Rohrer and Senator Mike Folmer, but some Democrats are on board too.
Seip: A lot of people call it coercion or blackmail, in those instances... and I don't think the federal government should be interfering.
Rohrer: We don't stand here because we have nothing else to do, but because we have nothing more important to do. (Applause)
Joel D. Smith: Huge applause in front of dozens of supporters, that's one thing. But what are the odds that any of this can really change anything?
Folmer: I'm not naive, when you pass something like this, you're like a toothless hound dog, all bark and no bite. but it's also part of a greater thing.
Rohrer: We want it to be clear to our legislators and those across the country that when they accept dollars from Washington with strings attached it's a violation of their oath.
Oh...I get it: Republican Presidents revered the 10th Amendment & insisted on it being followed! Yeah, right (barf!) 
Texas has its own version of this initiative; one in the HOUSE and one in the SENATE. At last count the House proposal had about 50 co-sponsors! I've talked to my representatives, the ones I could actually get on the phone, and made them aware of my thoughts on the issue. Emailed and left messages with aides for the rest.
I expect Texas will pass a resolution reaffirming the 10th this session, but it wouldn't hurt for all Texas patriots to let 'em know how you feel.
I can appreciate your cynicism on the subject but it’s not like this is the first time any of the states have wrestled with the feral government over Constitutional authority. It actually happens fairly regularly in fact. This particular “movement” however is a little different animal in the sense it appears to be a more or less coordinated effort who’s time has come maybe? In any case I agree, it’s long overdue.

Cool. I can't even imagine why one of these hasn't made it out of committee yet, so if you're able to get one of your reps on the phone you might try to get a reading on when something else might develop.

I was wondering how long it would be before someone picked up on that little tidbit. Guy seems a bit of a lefty with his nose slighlty out of joint.
