Time to put pressure on Arlen Specter
Indy Mind ^ | 2/7/2009 | Arkady

Posted on 02/07/2009 6:41:02 PM PST by arkadyka

We have been given some time to mobilize our efforts and exert additional pressure in stopping the Obama/Pelosi "stimulus" package. With the tentative deal still on shaky grounds, Harry Reid has pushed the vote to Monday. There is sufficient evidence that Collins can "un-break" ranks and refuse to vote if the Democrat amendments make the bill top heavy. The tentative deal is already larger than the one she agreed to. This is perfect considering this senate term might be her last.

However, Arlen Specter is planning to run again in 2010. This is a perfect opportunity to voice your opinion and without sounding like a mafiozo soldier warn him that it might be in his best interest to stick with the GOP this time around. We can forgive him Geithner, SCHIP and everything else he sold conservatives down the river on.

Olympia Snowe's next run is not for many years and she is therefore not possible to directly pressure, but if Collins and Specter can be persuaded she will refuse to be the only Republican. At least we could hope :)

His form is here: Specter webform.

This is the letter I wrote, feel free to copy and paste.

He needs to be told he’s through when re-election time comes around. What a POS.

I already told him yesterday that I would *financially* support anyone that runs against him in the primary.

I’d like to put the pressure of a dump truck full of rocks on him.

I'm sure he has already taken a major payment under the table. He knows he will NEVER get elected again.

If these 3 Senators have already given their word that they will support the stimulus can they even change there mind?
I understand they are Politicians and genrally talk out of both sides of their faces however what is the point of them saying they have a deal if they do not plan to abide by it?

Dear FRiends,

In light of what is transpiring in our nation's capitol this weekend, more than ever, we need to ensure that places like Free Republic and other like-minded places continue to speak the plain truth. Newspapers are dying and the current administation will either bail them out or allow them to fail. If they are bailed out, they will be even more beholding to the coming socialist agenda. If they are allowed to fail, the powers that be will force the remaining electronic media to fill the void. Local coverage only. No national syndicated news/talk. The "Fairness Doctrine", like it or not.

After that, the internet. Free Republic. And others.

We need to get this FReepathon over and right now. We need to show that we are serious and will continue forward and thrive, not just survive.

If you can spare a couple of bucks, that would be great...If not, God bless you and please stop by the FReepathon thread and give it a bump.

We're all in this together.

Specter’s career has been the reward for his performance on the Warren Commission. His benefactors are now long dead and let’s hope his career is dead along with it. I for one am going to support whomever his GOP primary opponent is to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Can’t the republican leadership strip him of his committee assignments? “Arlen, if you want to be an idiot, fine ... but you are hereby demoted to the rank of newbie.”

Thanks for the thread and link - emails sent to all staff in Specter’s office:

Please be advised that if Senator Specter forges ahead with voting of passage of this out of control / blotted “SPENDING / PORK” Bill under the guise of so called” Emergency Stimulus that I and many millions of conservatives will work to assure that he is DEFEATED in the 2010 primary!

The good Senator needs to switch is support and vote for a true Stimulus Package that the Republicans have crafted.

Passage of this current pork laden (non-stimulus) bill will help NO ONE — other that provide political pay-back to the leftist groups that helped to put Obama into office.

Signed,
A TRUE Conservative American

I got though to the Republican cloakroom today. Had a nice conversation with the young man you answered the phone. I told him to get a message to Arlen Specter - I listed all the things wrong about his support for this disaster. I asked him, if along with the message if he could throw a shoe at him for me.

I’ve called all his offices for a week, emailed, and faxed. I will campaign for who ever decides to run against him in 2010.

The best thing to do re. Specter, is encourage Pat Toomey to challenge him in the primary again, and in any case be prepared to help Specter’s primary challenger. Pressuring Specter to move right is a lost cause; he revels in opposition from conservatives and enjoys attacking us and campaigning agains us as “extreme right.” He doesn’t stab us in the back; he stabs us in the front. The one thing to do with this open combatant against conservatism, is BEAT him.

To refresh everyone’s memory, some conservative ran against Spinchter in the primary a few years ago (forget his name), and almost beat the turd.

Probably would have, except that the flippin’ GOP supported Anal Spinchter, of course.

That is not a bad idea, considering the GOP and Bush will no longer be there to stand behind Specter as another FReeper pointed out.

I still think enough people gathering together can probably put SOME fear into him? Assuming Specter even wants anotehr run at it. Who knows, maybe he got his $$ and he is done?
