So many good ones, particularly the illustrations, which have a different set of aspirations than formal paintings—to tell the story in a more or less literal way, without attempting to paint “for the ages.” In art school, we used to call graphic design and illustration “wastebasket art”—much of it is intended for books, but lots of it is meant for flyers and brochures, which are often easily discarded. Yet mass paper reproductions have a great role in Christian education. Number 9 is very appealing.
