DIXON -- A motorist stopped for speeding and drunken driving on Interstate 80 early today in Dixon bolted from a California Highway Patrol officer, jumped the median and was struck and killed by a sport-utility vehicle, authorities said. Shaun Jones, 26, of Sacramento died shortly after 1 a.m. when he was hit by a woman driving a Ford Expedition on westbound I-80 near Dixon Avenue in Solano County, the CHP said. TUSTIN, Calif. A man was hospitalized after he drove his car into a Tustin beauty salon Saturday, police said. A vehicle was driven all the way into Fine Touch Hair & Nails, in the 17500 block of 17th Street and was reported at 2:43 p.m., Tustin police Lt. Charles Celano said. PINE VALLEY – California Highway Patrol officers intercepted a large SUV Wednesday night on Interstate 8 that had been heavily modified to smuggle both drugs and illegal immigrants. Five of the seven people inside the white Chevrolet Suburban were taken into custody and nearly 700 pounds of marijuana was confiscated, but not before the driver fled the wrong way on Interstate 8 and deliberately rammed a CHP patrol car head-on, said CHP Officer Brian Pennings. Investigators believe the fire started at about 1 a.m. in a Suzuki SUV parked under a carport at a complex on Broadway Street and Moline Street.
