A judge has denied Karmelo Anthony's request for a new trial in the murder of Austin Metcalf after his new defense team called for it in the wake of his conviction earlier this summer.
Judge Michael Chitty rendered his decision Saturday after testimony stretched into Friday evening. The decision could have a major impact on how people perceive the justice system in Texas.
Anthony was convicted of murdering 17‑year‑old Austin Metcalf after stabbing him during a Frisco ISD track meet in April 2025. A Collin County jury rejected his self‑defense claim and found he intentionally stabbed Metcalf during an altercation.

That’s good news.
Of course, this will be immediately, frantically appealed. but it shows that the road to setting this murderer free will not be as smooth and easy as his supporters had expected.
Those giant hooters are going to get a workout.
This is exactly why the Texas prosecutors did NOT seek to enter marginally admissable character issues.

For Karmelo this is not the only bad news, think about going to prison knowing that your parents took all the money raised for you and blew it on a house and Cadillac for themselves.
Even when that boy comes out of prison in decades to come (he’s young, he’ll see the light outside of prison some day in >18 years), his life ruined, his selfish parents made sure he has NOTHING.
The money raised for his legal defense and which they probably should have put to the side for him if not used, they squandered on themselves. Low lives.

I admit I was hoping for a re-sentencing where he gets parole shortly before the heat death of the universe.
They’ve been quoting the convicted murderer’s line about looking forward t licking he victim’s blood off knife after he stabs them to death.

The Metcalf racist “graffiti” incident occurred when the Metcalf kids were TEN and in elementsry school. I thought juvenile records were not to be available to the public.
Of course cBS left out the recent testimony and texts of Karmelo’s girlfriend citing he was “looking to stab someone” earlier that day after she broke up with the little sociopathic murderer. Might have had something to do with the deicision, although the crime would appear to be premeditated, which originally that was not thought to be the case.
