A sport utility came crashing through the front of the home Thursday night, narrowly missing the two elderly people who live there.Police are now looking for the driver who fled the scene.
Around 10:20 p.m. Thursday, the SUV slammed into a home in the 3700 block of Lowell, slightly injuring one of two women who were inside.
The woman suffered a cut to her forehead from flying debris. The collapsing roof was firefighters' next big concern.
Engineers were brought in to determine the safest way to get the car out of the house.
"We brought in the Denver Fire Department engineer as well as the building engineer for the city and they made the determination on how to stabilize it. And the best way to do this was to remove the vehicle, and let the smaller roof come apart with the car," said Denver fire Department's spokesman Derrick Delgado.
Police say it appears speed may have been a factor in the accident but the investigation is ongoing.
These headlines are comical. As if SUV's have a mind of their own...

The driver must have been scared out of his wits when the SUV took control. No wonder he fled, he didn't want to be blamed for something he didn't do!

I just can't help myself.... whenever I see an evil SUV parked somewhere... I always creep up on it and take out my pocket knife and cut all four rubber tendons...I figure if i can at least cripple it for a few hours... I am doing my good deed for the day for all of humanity.
