DRUMS, Pa. - A sport utility vehicle crashed head-on into a line of motorcycles on a charity ride, killing one person and injuring several others, authorities said.
William Delaney Jr., 41, was killed Sunday when his motorcycle was struck by the Chevrolet Blazer after it crossed the center line, said William J. Feissner, a Butler Township police officer.
Delaney's wife, Linda Delaney, 40, who was riding on the back of the motorcycle, was listed in critical condition Monday at a hospital.
Two other motorcyclists were critically injured and at least three others were hospitalized with noncritical injuries, Feissner said Sunday. Investigators believe the motorcyclists were not wearing helmets.
No other information about their conditions was immediately available Monday.
The SUV driver, Jeffrey M. Borrin, 25, was headed southbound on Route 309 when his vehicle crashed into the northbound motorcycles, Feissner said. Borrin was uninjured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges were filed.
About 150 motorcycles were taking part in the Chris Jones Benefit Bike Run, a ride for charity that started in nearby Wright Township, Feissner said.
No High Test for you!
Pickups are always relieved when an SUV does it. It takes the heat of the spotlight off of them.
Mr. Borin will no doubt be bringing kidnapping charges against the evil perpetrator.
Hooligan List PING.
SUVs hate do-gooders.
Four mentions of the type of vehicle before mentioning the drivers name. Typical.
Another victim of SUV taking over the driving. When will people learn the real dangers of SUV's. They drive themselves and cause accidents. Geez, after 1000's of stories you would think people would realize what is going on here.
I'm glad that the AP is here to keep us abreast of the "evil SUV" news. What a joke of a company.
And apparently the Driver was not even driving, he was just headed southbound. The Driver was an innocent victim according to the article.
Oh, I don't know about claims of bias for mentioning the SUV here. I think the point is the contrast in the sizes of the vehicles.
That cartoon reeks of Mike Luchovich...
God be with the families that were killed and injured....while they were doing a good deed for someone else, the driver of the SUV couldn't pay attention to what he was doing...God be with you all...

Whadda ya wanna bet that the SUV driver was on a cell phone...
Every time I've nearly gotten mowed over when on my motorcycle it's been by someone yammering into their phone and not paying attention...
LQ
I have to keep my SUV chained up to keep it from attacking my motorcycle ~~ damn critters, sure are hard to train.
