CA: Stabbing Suspect Dies After Jumping From Vehicle During Chase

A suspect being sought for a stabbing ran a sports utility vehicle into the patrol cars of two officers trying to find him, and then died in a chase when he jumped from his vehicle onto a Southland freeway, authorities said today.

Sgt. Gil Carrillo said the suspect dove out of the driver's window of the moving SUV.

...the incident ended after 10:45 p.m. Sunday when Lopez jumped to his death out of the vehicle as it traveled at 50 mph along the Harbor Freeway in Carson.

He was struck by a pursuing patrol car, Carillo said.

Memo to suspect: In spite of what you saw in the Hollywood chase scenes, jumping out of an automobile that's moving down the highway at 50 miles per hour is not likely to produce happy results.

Additional note: The "unhappy result" factor is likely to be further multiplied if there's a police car in hot pursuit right behind you.

Yep,that sudden stop after dropping out the drivers window at 90 mph will do it everytime.

I guess they will blame the officers chasing him.
