Answer We believe that the Sabbath was instituted in Eden before sin entered, that it was honored of God, set apart by divine appointment, and given to mankind as the perpetual memorial of a finished creation. It was based upon the fact that God Himself had rested from His work of creation, had blessed His Sabbath, or rest day, and had sanctified it, or set it apart for man (Gen. 2:1-3; Mark 2:27). We believe, further, that it was none other than the Son of God Himself, the second person of the eternal Godhead, who was the Creator of Genesis...

We take our stand without qualification on the gospel platform that the death of Jesus Christ provides the sole propitiation for our sins (1 John 2:2; 4:10); that there is salvation through no other means or medium, and no other name by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12); and that the shed blood of Jesus Christ alone brings remission for our sins (Matt. 26: 28). That is foundational. Further, we hold to the recognized principle that no cardinal doctrine or belief should be based primarily upon a parable or type, but upon the clear unfigurative statements of Scripture, and...

Is this accusation valid? If Michael is Christ, how do you explain Jude 9? We emphatically reject the idea set forth in this question, and the position held by the Jehovah's Witnesses. We do not believe that Christ is a created being. We, as a people, have not considered the identification of Michael of sufficient prominence to dwell upon it at length either in our literature or in our preaching. But we do have clear views on the subject, and are prepared to set them forth. And our views concerning Michael, it might be added, have been held by various...

We had fun that with our two backgrounds having these theological discussions you know he showed me some of the biblical basis of adventism you know things like saying well do you think there's wisdom in do not commit adultery and do not steal I'd say yeah, he's like then how about the Sabbath it's in the same list do you think there's still some wisdom in that? you know this kind of thing or showing me where Jesus anticipates the Sabbath will continue after he's gone, and I'm like there is logic to this, there is a Bible basis...

Welcome to 1844 made simple. When you read the bible one point comes through, there is a judgment or judgments. We find it over and over again in scripture. Just look at these few texts and you tell me whether or not they talk about some kind of judgment, end time judgment or judgments, a judgment by works as well. 2nd corinthians 5 10: for we must all appear before the judgment seat of christ that everyone may receive the things done in the body according to what he has done whether it good or bad. Revelation 22 12: and...

Let me clear something up right now before we go any farther. I'm not saved by a church. The Bible makes it very very clear that I'm saved by the Lord Jesus Christ. So I want every person watching on TV to know that this Adventist believes we are saved through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. So, salvation is not found in a church, salvation is found in a person, the Lord Jesus Christ. I also want to say I am very conscious of the good people in other churches. .........God has got his children in every church. I'm...

Adventist Teaching: Yes Biblical Teaching: No In Seventh-Day Adventist theology, the sins of believers are transferred to a sanctuary building in Heaven where Jesus is doing a work of investigative judgement to see who is and isn’t worthy of the atoning benefits of His sacrifice. He is “cleansing the sanctuary” of sin in this process because this sanctuary became defiled by our sins. It is the blood of Christ in this work that transfers the sins there and His blood will also be what transfers them to Satan (though, they will say symbolically). They claim this is modeled after the...

BELIEF 1: HOLY SCRIPTURES The Holy Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration. The inspired authors spoke and wrote as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. In this Word, God has committed to humanity the knowledge necessary for salvation. The Holy Scriptures are the supreme, authoritative, and the infallible revelation of His will. They are the standard of character, the test of experience, the definitive revealer of doctrines, and the trustworthy record of God’s acts in history. (Ps. 119:105; Prov. 30:5, 6; Isa. 8:20; John 17:17; 1 Thess. 2:13; 2 Tim....

By Michael Peabody [dc]I[/dc]n 2010, La Sierra University, a Seventh-day Adventist liberal arts institution in Southern California, named its “Financial Literacy and Entrepreneurship Center” after notorious abortion provider Edward C. Allred. Allred, a 1964 graduate of Loma Linda University Medical School, has achieved legendary status in the pro-life community for his frank comments in a 1980 interview with the San Diego Union. (The full article, entitled “Doctor’s Abortion Business is Lucrative” is available here.) In the article, Allred described how he was able perform more abortions, more quickly, in a more cost-effective manner. In addition to eliminating pre-abortion psychiatric counseling,...

Riverside, California, January 16, 2013 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The Seventh-day Adventist website ADvindicate has recently drawn attention to the fact that La Sierra University has named a new economics centre after abortionist and gambling magnate Edward C. Allred, who in 1980 claimed to have personally aborted a quarter of a million babies in twelve years. In 2010, La Sierra, a Seventh-day Adventist University in Riverside, California, established the Edward C. Allred Center to promote free market economics among high school students. The centre’s abortionist namesake founded the Family Planning Associates Medical Group in 1969, a chain of abortion clinics that reportedly...

Why did Angus T. Jones turn to God? Yahoo! TV By Sarah D. Bunting | Yahoo! TV – 9 hours ago Following a recent high-profile rant by "Two and a Half Men" star Angus T. Jones that called the show "filth" and told viewers not to watch it, it's unclear what's next for the 19-year-old -- or for the show itself. Jones, who plays Jake Harper on the sitcom, also said he "doesn't want to be on" it anymore. But it seems neither the young actor nor his reps has contacted anyone on the production about quitting the show formally,...

Last week two Christian pastors were jailed in the United States for violation of court orders involving two different types of property cases. In Phoenix, Arizona, Pastor Michael Salman of the Harvest Christian Fellowship Community Church (not affiliated with the Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, CA) is serving a 60-day prison sentence for violating building, fire, and zoning codes. In 2008 Salman received a permit to build a 2,000 square foot “game room” which expressly prohibited its use as a church, business or assembly because it did not meet the physical requirements that such structures were required to meet. Large...

I just received an email from World Net Daily advertising some books. Not unusual, as I'm on their list, and they send ads all the time. What is strange though, is the fact that all the books in this ad are religious AND take the oddball "7th-day Sabbath" position--definitely a very minority position among conservative evangelicals, and Christians of all stripes. The ad also hints at some dark conspiracy amidst conventional Christians, accusing us of not reading the bible carefully. Some evangelical apologists too categorize Adventism (which started with those who firmly predicted Jesus to come again in the 1840s) itself...

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against a Florida Jewish nursing home for firing a Seventh-day Adventist staffer who did not want to work on her Sabbath. Menorah House in Boca Raton "denied a religious accommodation to Philomene Augustin and fired her because of her religious beliefs," the EEOC said in a statement Tuesday. The firing violated religious protections in the federal Civil Rights Act that require "reasonable accommodation" of religious beliefs, "so long as this does not pose an undue hardship," the EEOC said. According to the EEOC, Augustin worked at Menorah House as a certified...

This month's formal conversation between leaders of the Mennonite World Conference and the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists offered the opportunity for both groups to share their beliefs and dispel misunderstandings in a receptive forum, leaders of both groups said. "By sitting down and talking with those of other faiths, we gain a deeper understanding of who they are," said John Graz, Public Affairs and Religious Liberty director for the Adventist Church, whose department organized the June 28 to July 1 event at its world headquarters. In a joint statement, leaders from both faiths said each shares "a desire to...

Seventh-day Adventists won't tell you they are behind the "Revelation Seminars" they sponsor. They act all" interdenominational" if questioned. Watch out for these SDA outreaches as well: Voice of Prophecy, Faith for Today, It is Written, The Quiet Hour, Amazing Facts etc. They also hide behind Heath oriented shows on the networks, and sponsor stop-smoking clinics etc, all as introductions to Seventh-day Adventism. They very much want to be perceived as Evangelical Christians, seeking a place on the ministerial fellowships. All this is good PR for them, but what do they really believe? What facts won't they tell you? They...

Nature and revelation alike testify of God's love. Our Father in heaven is the source of life, of wisdom, and of joy. Look at the wonderful and beautiful things of nature. Think of their marvelous adaptation to the needs and happiness, not only of man, but of all living creatures. The sunshine and the rain, that gladden and refresh the earth, the hills and seas and plains, all speak to us of the Creator's love. It is God who supplies the daily needs of all His creatures. In the beautiful words of the psalmist-- "The eyes of all wait upon...

Hi all since there are several caucus for our LDS and RC brothers and sisters I thought it was about time to make one for Adventists. I know there are a lot of us who use the forum. And I have also noticed there are is a lot of misinformation about our beliefs. So I will try and post things with an eye to both groups while staying in the caucus rules.

One controversial translation issue is the phrase, “mia ton sabbaton.” This has traditionally been translated as “the first of the week.” Under pressure from 7th-day Adventists, however, some translations of the bible have taken to translate this “on one of the Sabbaths.” But the Adventists’ translation is based on a faulty transliteration. In the Greek, “sabbaton” is spelled with either an omicron (“small ‘o’”) or an omega (“big ‘o’”). When spelled with an omega, “sabbaton” is the genitive plural. In other words, it means “Sabbaths’.” The Adventists’ position is that “primus” means “first;” “mia” means closer to the number, one....
