From my AI discussion:
The Talk Shows – The Butcher’s Thumb
Sunday, July 26, 2026

General Mood: The political class is still treating national security, elections, and borders as stage props. Iran is escalating, proxies are active, and instead of a united Western front, the talk shows are gearing up to turn everything into narrative fuel against Trump and anyone who threatens the status quo.

FACE THE NATION (CBS) – Margaret Brennan
Guests: Sen. John Kennedy (R–La.); Sen. Bernie Sanders (I–Vt.); U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz; Scott Gottlieb; Anthony Salvanto.

Kennedy will be allowed to be colorful but boxed in—used as “folksy Republican” rather than serious voice on security or elections. Sanders will get the moral‑lecture slot: inequality, “democracy at risk,” and the usual “billionaires vs. the people” framing, with zero acknowledgment that the Left’s policies helped create the current mess.

Mike Waltz is the one who could talk seriously about Iran, the U.N., and the proxy network, but expect Brennan to steer him into “multilateralism” and “global cooperation” rather than hard realities. Gottlieb gives them a chance to revisit COVID, public health, and “trust in institutions.” Salvanto will be there to tell viewers what “the polls” say about Trump, Biden, and “democracy.”

Verdict: A carefully balanced hour: a little Kennedy color, a lot of Sanders sermonizing, and Waltz used just enough to sound serious without breaking the narrative.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox) – Shannon Bream
Guests: U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz; Megan Romer (Red Star caucus/DSA); Sen. Tim CoKaine (D–Va.). Panel: Dasha Burns, Mollie Hemingway, Josh Kraushaar, Juan Williams.

Waltz again, this time with a better chance to speak plainly about Iran, the U.N., and the failure of “global community” to stand firm. Megan Romer — a DSA activist whose public statements have drawn heavy criticism for appearing sympathetic to Hamas, hostile toward American policing, and admiring of hard‑Left revolutionary figures — will deliver the predictable radical‑Left framing: America bad, capitalism worse, borders immoral, and U.S. allies suspect. A quick reminder that she’s not just “Left,” she’s Left of the Left, and her rhetoric has raised eyebrows even among Democrats. CoKaine will float in the usual fog of “concern,” “bipartisanship,” and “we must work together,” while quietly backing the same policies that weakened U.S. leverage abroad.

The panel will be mixed: Hemingway will try to anchor reality on elections and institutions; Kraushaar will do the horse‑race thing; Burns will play the “neutral journalist”; Juan Williams will sigh and complain about Trump and “extremism.”

Verdict: More honest than CBS on some points, but still half‑trapped in the Beltway game of pretending the Left’s radicalism is just another “perspective.”

MEET THE dePRESS (NBC) – Kristen Welker
Guests: U.N. Ambassador Mike Waltz; Sen. Mark Kelly (D–Ariz.); Steve Kornacki; Sheinelle Jones. Panel: Lanhee Chen, Adrienne Elrod, Tyler Pager.

Waltz’s third lap of the morning—this time likely squeezed between Kelly’s “moderate Democrat” act and Kornacki’s map‑board theatrics. Kelly will be used to sell the idea that Democrats are sober on security and space, while quietly backing the same party line on Trump and elections.

Kornacki will turn everything into counties and precincts, reducing serious questions about institutions and foreign threats to colored blocks on a screen. Sheinelle Jones adds the “human interest” tone. The panel—Chen, Elrod, Pager—will stay safely inside the MSNBC/Now frame: Trump is dangerous, Democrats are worried, institutions are noble.

Verdict: Heavy on optics and maps, light on admitting how politicized the system has become.

THIS WEEK (ABC) – Little Georgie / Martha Raddish
Guests: Rep. Mike Turner (R–Ohio); Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D–“El Salvador”). Panel: Donna Brazile, Chris Christie, Mary Bruce.

Turner will be the “serious Republican” allowed to talk about intel and security, but only within the acceptable narrative rails. Van Hollen will carry the standard Democratic foreign‑policy line: Trump destabilized alliances, Democrats are rebuilding trust, and Iran is “complicated.”

The panel is the usual mix: Brazile pushing the party line, Christie playing the “I’m a Republican but I hate Trump” role, and Mary Bruce as the network’s voice of “concerned neutrality.”

Verdict: An hour designed to make viewers feel like they’ve heard “both sides,” while the underlying assumptions never change.

STATE OF THE UNION (CNN) – Jake Tapper / Dana Bash
Guests: Hakeem Jeffries; Sen. Bill Cassidy (RINO–La.); Tom Homan. Panel: Rep. Mike Lawler, Rep. Tom Suozzi, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Maya Wiley.

Jeffries will deliver the polished party line: democracy at stake, Trump as threat, institutions as guardians. Cassidy will be the “Republican” who hates Trump, used to show that “even Republicans” are worried. Homan will be allowed to talk about the border, but framed as “controversial” and “hardline.”

The panel is stacked: Lawler the lone serious Republican voice; Suozzi the party loyalist; Farah Griffin the “former Trump aide turned critic”; Wiley the progressive legal voice. Tapper will keep the conversation safely inside the narrative that Trump is the destabilizer and the system is noble but under siege.

Verdict: Less about policy than about reinforcing the idea that Trump is illegitimate and anyone who questions institutions is dangerous.

SUNDAY MORNING FUTURES (FNC) – Maria Bartiromo
Guests: Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu; Sen. Ron Johnson; Secretary of Education Linda McMahon; Andrew Cuomo.

Netanyahu will again be the one person willing to say plainly that Iran is a hostile regime directing proxies and testing Western weakness. Johnson will connect the dots between institutions, elections, and the weaponization of government. McMahon will talk education, but the real story is how the system has been used to shape voters and future citizens. Cuomo’s presence is pure theater: a fallen Democrat governor trying to rehabilitate himself in a world he helped break.

Verdict: The only show likely to treat Iran, institutions, and elections as part of one coherent picture of power and accountability.

WHAT’S NOT BEING COVERED

1. The Allies’ Silence: Western allies who should stand with the U.S. against Iran are hedging, hesitating, or waiting for election outcomes—not because the facts are unclear, but because they dislike Trump and distrust Netanyahu.

2. Iran’s Proxy Coordination: Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis will be treated as “regional actors,” not Iran’s coordinated pressure network. Admitting coordination would force the shows to acknowledge deliberate strategy from Tehran, not “reaction” to Trump.

3. The Platner & Graham Aftermaths: The political class’s selective outrage (Platner) and the intelligence community’s internal posture (Graham) reveal how deeply politicized foreign policy and security have become. Both aftermaths will be memory‑holed because they expose the machinery behind tomorrow’s framing.

4. Trump’s Election Speech: Trump’s recent speech on elections—laying out integrity concerns, institutional resistance, and the link between foreign threats and domestic vulnerabilities—will be ignored. Acknowledging it would undermine the narrative that Trump is the destabilizer and that institutions are neutral guardians of democracy.

Final Thumb: Tomorrow’s shows will talk about Iran, elections, borders, and “democracy,” but most of them will really be talking about Trump and how to keep the existing machinery intact. The voters chose Trump; Tehran chose escalation. The media will spend the morning trying to convince viewers that the real danger isn’t Iran or institutional politicization—it’s the man who keeps pointing at both.

“The Sunday Morning Bray”, by Bray!

Archives 2005

Matthew 19:14 (King James Version)
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Now we are supposed to hate the Oil Companies for making too much profit in a recession/depression. Never mind they made this profit, in spite of an intense war by the Fed on these companies, they made too much profit. Never mind they paid multiple times their profits in taxes to the gummit or that they employed millions of people worldwide, we are supposed to hate them for exploiting the middle class or proletariat. Just like every other strategic company the commie libs have run out of America, we are supposed to hate them and let Barack Hussain Obama take them over.

They are to be hated by Commiebama voters due to earning $11 Billion which they judge excessive. Why is it excessive? The only thing excessive is the fact they had to pay $40 Billion in taxes to an overbearing wasteful gummit. What is excessive is Exxon was stuck with 41% corporate taxes when the worldwide average is around 25% so what are the reasons Exxon wants to stay here? We are supposed to hate big oil since we have been taught it from birth and because they make more profit in a rising market they are to be punished even more severely than they are already.

Why is Ohbummer not happy with $40 Billion dollars and believes he deserves the $44 Billion he is trying to extort with his profit envy tactic? What a real leader would do is hail the accomplishment of making a good profit in a trying market while highlighting all the great charities and goodwill they have provided. To have a company making a profit while the economy has been in recession is worth commending not punishing and then ask how the gummit could help make things better, but that would take a leader not a destroyer.

How does Exxon make these larger margins in an up market? Commodities are simple when you know the prices are going to rise. When you have outside forces wanting to raise the market like a President who says prices must rise and then begins closing down all of the production of raw materials you are 90% sure you will see those prices rise. You and $oro$ then go out and purchase all the raw material you can in anticipation of that rise. A few months later when that product arrives at lower than today’s market price, you make your normal profit in addition to the market-based profit you made from buying right. If the market had gone the other way you would have made your normal profit but lost on the market which happens during normal markets. $oro$ would have lost by guessing wrong on the market speculation like if the dollar were to unexpectedly rise.

If obozo was smart and really wanted to punish Exxon he would allow drilling and make them eat all the oil, they have speculated on in anticipation of yet higher prices. They are expecting $150-200 per barrel oil which will make for $5-6/gal gas. If Present Hussain would allow American producers to drill and turn on the spigot there would be a powerful signal to the market America is going to get serious about its oil production and collapse the price overnight. Exxon would then be processing higher priced oil and be left holding the bag on millions of barrels of high-priced commodity. Don’t throw them into the briar patch Barak Fox! Just think of all the pain and suffering you could cause the oil companies if you allowed drilling and exploration of our resources? They may need a bailout and your control if you did such an unexpected move?

We should be saluting our successful companies and not punishing them. Next time you fill up, it says $50 you can get angry that $6 is profit to Exxon and the owner of the station. Then you can get mad that $6 is gas taxes and $12 is corporate taxes. Then perhaps you can get furious knowing at least $20 is gummit interference and mismanagement of our resources driving the cost of an abundant fuel into the stratosphere. The remainder is to pay nations who hate us to do the drilling our gummit won’t allow. Finally, you can go ballistic nobody is doing anything to lower the price or look out for your $50 and only scheming new ways to take more and more of it. The reality of the situation is Exxon is on our side while the gummit is trying to siphon the tanks of both you and Exxon.

The outrage of this entire picture is that Exxon has to pay a gummit which is trying to put them out of business $40 Billion. If they were taxed at the worldwide rate, they would be able to keep an additional $15 Billion to pass on to consumers or develop their facilities by making themselves more efficient. Rather it is siphoned into the District of Corruption to be used for graft and favors. Rather they want to take another $4 Billion for their greedy selves and guess where that money will come from, add another $1 to your tank. This tactic is getting a bit stale, but it still seems to work on the braindead libs, oh how they hate the evil oil companies. It is time to buy a locking gas cap.

We once again have the same old position of the commies standing in the way of free enterprise to promote their agenda of a bigger and more powerful gummit. They are going to the tired but true envy of the rich to manipulate the masses into punishing themselves. Those masses are expected to see excessive profits as stealing from them while ignoring that they are the targets and their tanks are the access to their ever-shrinking bank accounts.

Since the Bolshevik revolution these masters of propaganda have painted the Evil Capitalist boogeyman can only be controlled by a benevolent all powerful gummit protecting the middle class from the Evil Capitalist, for a fee of course. When the middle class realizes he and the Capitalist are on the same side against an oppressive central government, then Freedom will begin to Ring.

Pray for America

Note: The above opinion is not necessarily my own, but FReeper Bray’s. If you wish to discuss this, please ping Bray.

Wow too much to even comment here.!!

Excellent job!

Your take on everything is spot on and shows extensive political savvy seen only here on FR!

100 days until the mid-terms seems to be the key to each and every show. It could be all about our future. We know that if the commies win they will seek impeachment immediately. On and on it goes.

I'm having some huge problems with my computer. Its only showing about half of what I am putting up. I don't know how the other half is disappearing.

Excellent as usual.

The commies are coming, slow but sure.

This is why the price of gas is so key. As the mid-term elections grow near, only 100 days out, best guesses are that if gas is 2.75 or $3.00 we win. If its over 4.00 it's a toss up.

Will Americans see through a temporary gas price hike in order to basically save the world from Islamic terrorism? Or, will they sink to listening to the driveby media which can't stop screaming Trumps war of choice over and over and over.?

It is a war of choice if you don't want communism and terrorism to flourish. You choice beating the commies in the voting booth and taking out the country that is behind more terrorism than any other in the entire world,Iran.

That's your choices.

Don’t forget you are being gaslighted everyday by all of the mediots who know nothing about MAGA. The war on oil and the environazies are who caused the oil shortage and Iran crisis. They made us dependent and Trump is breaking that dependency.

Allies silence. Europe needs Persian oil, so Europe will not act. Chyna needs Persian oil + Europe needs Chyna = Europe and Chyna will not act.

Great essay, Bray...for back when Obama was Resident. I don't see any correlation between the petroleum industry's market environment then to today's situation.

Other than a growing need for specialized refineries what's keeping the cost of gasoline so high at a time when it will affect mid-term election results among low-intellect voters?

A very poignant/prophetic analysis by Bray from back in the day. And now it seems Barry is overseeing the very “fundamental transformation” he promised. Heaven help us because these communists are driving their clown car off the cliff and trying to hitch our country up to it.

What I would like to see is somebody on any of these shows point out the last time that “mainstream, traditional Democrats” voted differently than Democrat Socialists voted. Rhetoric aside, it’s the voting that matters, not the chitchat. Harold Ford on The Five may be the most egregious offender on this, but maybe that observation is based on my limited watching of mainstream dems trying to separate themselves from their political outcome spawn,

The day will come, not likely in my lifetime, where we will be off of crude and into what is refereed to as free energy. The free stuff is little more than small machines that can power a home, car, boat, bigger machines that power a city and so on.

These machines don't use normal fuel. They extract energy from air and once they start they don't stop.

They have to be built, distributed, parts have to be made, they have to be sold and then installed. So they are not free. But they are 21st century.

They don't need the straits of Hormuz, pipelines that can be destroyed with a drone or other forms of crude oil which was great for the 20th century but archaic for now.

The entire process will take 10-20 years to go from crude oil to free energy and even than we will still need some crude for the many bi=products we get from it.

My kids will surely be around to see it but I will be gone. Just knowing its out there is refreshing.

I still think the only answer is boots on the ground. Just not ours. Iran is run by nutcases who are Islamic terrorists. Once they are out of power and the good people of Iran back in office, like before jimmy carter, things can begin to normalize.Problem is getting there.

Democrats are harassed, threatened, and basically neutered until they yield to the party leaders. They have talking points and are told not to deviate. There are very few fettermans and they don't last long in the party. The party is largely funded by devious methods most illegal. It is basically a criminal party.

I saw them on Fox last evening discussing the latest DNC cut/paste coronation for the senate slot in Maine. It seems several Maine democrats are planning to register a complaint, seems there is a rule in the state that no candidate can run for 2 different offices in any cycle. All agreed that nothing will happen because its the Democrats and following the rules, nevermind laws, does not apply. Now we see them claiming yesterday at their “convention” this was an excellent example of a “grassroots” campaign and election. Apparently the truth never applies to Democrats as well.

Time for Shannon.

Shannon now talking about the save America bill now stalled in both houses.she references more fraud in new jersey which is key in voter fraud.

They registered lots of illegals as citizens who then voted, just one way to win.

Mikie sherrill of NJ wont share voter rolls with the doj dems cant take that since their rolls include dead people, illegals. double voters, fake voters and every type of illegal you can imagine.

Tim Kaine Va. now up spinning like a top blaming trump for everything and anything,Atlantic calling dem socialists parasites, they realize it will take the dems down.

Kaine VA. claiming there are few dsa(demo socialists) members in VA. who knows. He says there are a lot of flavors in the DSA just like normal dems, yeah right all the flavors will make you sick as well.

Here's mikie sherill the ultimate con-lady
