Proposition 40 — the billionaire wealth tax — had the support of about 43% of ballots cast as of 8:33 p.m, according to preliminary returns from the California Secretary of State. The Associated Press estimates about 41% of votes had been counted. There are also two billionaire-backed measures on the ballot — Propositions 41 and 42 — that would void the tax if either wins majority support; those measures would also need to surpass Prop. 40 in votes to have that impact.

The House’s current DSA darlings – Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) – cruised to re-election in their respective races as well. Joining them in the next Congress from the radical flank of the Democratic Party will be: • Melat Kiros, a...

Gov. Hochul beat Republican Bruce Blakeman Tuesday to win reelection for a second full term as governor as New York Democrats turned out in droves in a blue wave driven by President Trump’s deep unpopularity. Hochul led Blakeman by a landslide with the early reporting, capping off a remarkable political comeback from her uncomfortably narrow first reelection win in 2022. Hochul racked up huge margins in New York City and held her ground in the suburbs and upstate to turn aside the challenge from Blakeman, the Nassau County executive who had needed to run the table outside the five boroughs....
