Vice President JD Vance delivered a blunt assessment of Republicans' sweeping midterm losses Wednesday morning, pointing at the Iran war as the driving force behind the party's election-night defeats.
"But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone," said Vance on X.
"The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost," said Vance. "And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there."
...snip...
Beyond ending the war, Vance argued that Republicans must address the cost of living, recommit to an America First agenda and "change our relationship to Israel."

What does Vance mean by this?
AT LEAST 50% of the Republican base is a committed friend of Israel.
Did he say what he means by ‘changing’ our relationship? Has anyone asked him?
For every leftist shmekel like Alan Dershowitz who supported Trump over the Iran war, there were probably tens of thousands who were utterly repulsed by it.
FWIW:
Israel is losing US support - even among Republicans
You’re conflating the Iran war with support for Israel.
Trump should fire Hegseth, and I think he will. Good guy, but he’s Sec. of War and the war has not be won. There’s always consequences when you make your boss look bad, even though he’s the one calling the shots.
Plus it would exempt Pete from the ordeal of impeachment. Deny the dems a scalp.
Trump should be fired for starting a war and then losing it.
He refused to commit the forces necessary to win.
Criminal malfeasance.
Successions of US presidents ignored Benjamin Netanyahu’s pleas to bomb Iran....till Trump bit.
Netanyahu remains the ultimate “poster boy” in foreign policy circles who point out his cockamamie miscalculations of the 2003 US invasion of Iraq.....which lasted 8 1/2 years, caused death and destruction and cost untold tranches of tax dollars.
When analysts, politicians, and historians debate the legacy of the Iraq War, Netanyahu’s Sept 2002 congressional testimony is frequently resurrected as Exhibit A of flawed intelligence and overconfident self-serving MidEast predictions.
What Netanyahu Actually Stupidly “Guaranteed:”
Speaking before the U.S. House Government Reform Committee (as a private citizen) six months before the war, Netanyahu sap-happily told lawmakers:
<><>”If you take out Saddam, and Saddam’s regime, I guarantee you that it will have “enormous positive reverberations’ on the region.”
<><>He claimed that a U.S. invasion would cause neighboring populations, particularly in Iran, to realize the “time of such regimes... is gone,”
<><>he argued that toppling Saddam Hussein’s regime would “trigger a democratic domino effect” across the Middle East.
<><>He insisted there was “no question whatsoever” that Saddam had “weapons of mass destruction.”
<><>Netanyahu swore Iraq was “actively developing” nuclear weapons.
Foreign policy realists and critics regularly invoke Netanyahu’s 2002 statements to argue against further US tax dollar-financed “regime changes.”
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED
The primary criticisms leveled against Netantahu’s dumbo
historical predictions in Washington policy circles include:
<><>• The Rise of Iran: Netanyahu predicted that invading Iraq would weaken Iran. Instead, removing Iran’s chief rival, Saddam Hussein, created a power vacuum that allowed Tehran to expand its regional hegemony through proxies across Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon.
<><>• The “Cry Wolf” Effect: Because his definitive claims regarding Iraqi weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) proved false, his subsequent, decades-long warnings regarding Iran’s nuclear program are frequently met with skepticism by political opponents and independent analysts.
<><>U.S. lawmakers have explicitly used the phrase “Netanyahu was wrong in 2002, he is wrong now,” to counter hawkish foreign policy proposals.
<><>• Academic Scrutiny prevails: Political scientists continue to study the long-term correlation between Netanyahu’s public rhetoric and US military escalations, tracking the historical blueprint established during the lead-up to the 2003 war.
Netanyahu’s detractors maintain that Netanyahu is a self-serving politician. His primary focus has always been the preemptive neutralization of existential threats to Israel.....using other people’s money.
Mainstream foreign policy circles heavily treat Netanyahu’s 2002 “guarantee” as one of the most glaringly incorrect regional forecasts of the post-9/11 era.
I think it was Vance who pushed to have Trump pump the brakes in Ira
months ago and that is what caused this catastrophe.
I foresee Trump going off his nut sooner rather than later.
They’re interconnected. “We knew that there was going to be an Israeli action, we knew that that would precipitate an attack against American forces, and we knew that if we didn’t preemptively go after them before they launched those attacks, we would suffer higher casualties.”
“WTH is wrong with our relationship to Israel?
What does Vance mean by this?
AT LEAST 50% of the Republican base is a committed friend of Israel.”

Being an ally of Israel doesn’t mean we should continue paying for a large portion of their defense, nor should we ever put the interests of Israel ahead of the interests of the United States since they’re not always the same.
You must post searchable links for such controversial assertions.
For all we know you could be full of shit.
WE MISS CHARLIE TERRIBLY.
If we had a Parliamentary system, he would not have survived a “No Confidence” vote.
If President Trump needs someone to fall on his sword, the Secretary of War will do so. That’s one of the obligations of Cabinet members.
Our concerns about a nuclear Iran are certainly the same.
“You’re conflating the Iran war with support for Israel.”
____________________________________________________________
A distinction without a difference. Absent Israel’s demands, Netanyahu’s demands, and Trump’s support of them, there wouldn’t be an active Iran war at all.
Which democrats did you vote for last night Mariner?
