Democrat Annie Andrews will defeat Republican Sen. Darline Graham in South Carolina’s U.S. Senate race, NBC News projected Tuesday night, delivering Democrats a striking pickup in a state Republicans have dominated for decades.
Andrews had 918,263 votes, or 51%, compared with 842,905 votes, or 46.8%, for Graham with an estimated 86.3% of the vote counted when NBC projected the race.
Independent Kasie Whitener had 1.1%.
The result caps an extraordinary Senate contest that began after longtime Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham died in July.
Republican Gov. Henry McMaster appointed Graham’s sister, Darline Graham, to complete his term. She later decided to seek a full six-year term and survived a Republican primary that included U.S. Rep. Ralph Norman.
Andrews, a pediatrician who previously challenged Republican Rep. Nancy Mace for Congress in 2022, had already secured the Democratic nomination before Lindsey Graham’s death reshaped the race.

How I hate inherited political offices, either party. We may still have lost this race, but Trump pushing an unqualified candidate for sentimental reasons was beyond foolish
When you run horrible candidates, this is what happens.

She is a million times better than Andrews.
Once again, Trump foisted a candidate on the party who lost a winnable election.
True. The left will now become even more insufferable than they already were.
Spectacular political malpractice from Trump. Poli sci PhD’s will be minted by raking over the coals of Trump’s singular incompetence picking or shoving aside various Senate candidates. He’s the Mark McGwire of effing up Senate races. He should do like McGwire and just stand at the plate in awe of his incompetence.
This was the biggest unforced political error I seen in a long time
I mean really, Lindsey Graham was never very popular he was just really good at triangulating and he was blessed with weak opponents
His sister is an unpopular moron who had zero chance of winning
This one is all on Trump. Mind numbingly stupid and short sighted decision to have Darline Graham run for the seat. Even having her be appointed was dumb. And if anyone thinks that Henry McMaster didn’t do Trump’s bidding on this, they’re crazy.
There is nothing more shocking tonight than the gay marxist commie mussie winning TX senate seat. Unbelievable.

Go Team Trump! Such a vibe for the hipster doofus crowd to vote for.
Where are all the Qtards?
And yet only a few months ago, Freepers were praising Trump for "remaking" the GOP.
And anyone who disagreed was denounced as a Never Trumper with TDS.
I think he will be fabulous! I can’t wait to see him in all of his regalia getting sworn in. Spit.
Looks like the democrats might win both houses. That little punk Talarico won Texas and the Muslim won Michigan.
Darline seems like a nice person, but she never really wanted to be a Senator and was only doing it to honor Lindsey. Norman would have won that race.
Losing a House seat occasionally I can handle; it’s only two years. Senators are there for six years.
This is all on the Senate for not passing the SAVE Act.
