TALLAHASSEE — In less than 24 hours, Florida lawmakers questioned, debated and added to the November ballot what could become the most sweeping restructuring of the state’s tax system — and city and county governments — in a generation. Now it’s up to voters. Legislators voted largely along party lines Tuesday to approve a constitutional amendment proposed by Gov. Ron DeSantis that would raise the state’s homestead exemption to $250,000. It will save millions of Floridians thousands of dollars on their property taxes in 2028, if voters approve it in November. Keir Starmer condemned Nigel Farage for his comments calling for “pure, cold rage” in the wake of Henry Nowak’s murder. On Tuesday morning, the Reform UK leader claimed Nowak’s death was evidence of a “two-tier culture” in Britain where white people’s rights “matter less than those of ethnic minorities.” He went on to call on people to respond to the incident with “pure, cold rage.” By Tuesday evening, there were violent protests in Southampton over the police’s actions in Nowak’s death. In his opening remarks addressing the demonstration in Southampton, Starmer said now was a time for “serious work, not...

The House offered a rare rebuke to President Donald Trump on Wednesday, passing a Democrat-led measure to end his war with Iran over objections from Republican leadership. It was one of two Democratic-led measures opposed by the White House that advanced in the GOP-led House. Lawmakers also passed a motion that would unlock a vote on sending aid to Ukraine. The Iran war powers resolution, offered by Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the top Democrat on the Foreign Affairs Committee, had been heading for a vote before the House left for its Memorial Day recess on May 21. But...

A claim that OnlyFans suffered a massive data breach has spread rapidly across X and Reddit in the past 48 hours, with reports alleging that a hacker is selling a database containing records for 340 million users and creators. The viral story has triggered panic among creators and subscribers, with many rushing to change passwords or delete accounts. However, a closer look at the available evidence shows this is not a direct hack of OnlyFans’ systems. Instead, it appears to be a large-scale compilation of data pulled from older breaches and publicly visible profiles. What the hacker is actually selling...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — After two decades of rising support for LGBTQ+ issues, U.S. attitudes have plateaued and begun to slide back modestly. While most Americans still favor legal same-sex marriages, the 65% who do so today is down six percentage points from the peak in 2022 and 2023. Similarly, the percentage viewing gay or lesbian relations as morally acceptable, 62%, has not been lower since 2016. And the share of Americans who consider changing...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded this evening (Wednesday) in an interview with CNBC to reports about a heated “shouting call" that reportedly took place this week between him and U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Lebanon. “President Trump and I agree on the main issues concerning Iran.
