Sir Sadiq Khan has accused Donald Trump's Maga supporters and Russia of spreading misinformation about London on social media.
The Mayor of London, who has frequently clashed with the US president, said people were using the algorithms on social media to portray Britain's capital as lawless.
He said "China, Russia or Maga influencers" were unhappy about London because it was "progressive, liberal, diverse".
Speaking at the SXSW culture festival, he said: "We're not perfect, but we are the greatest city in the world in terms of culture, tourism, music."
Social media apps, including Elon Musk's X, have seen a surge of videos portraying London as being plagued by violence against women and knife crime.
A report in April by the Greater London Authority (GLA) found there had been a nearly 200pc increase in "London in decline" posts on X between March 2024 and 2026.
These posts contained claims about "migration, Islamisation and demographic replacement narratives, including 'no-go zones' and Sharia law".

Sadiq Khan and President Trump have been trading insults for years. Most European politicians won’t call Khan out when he shows his bias against anything not Sharia approved.
