Iran ‘will surrender uranium stockpile' in US deal
The Telegraph via Yahoo ^ | May 24th, 2026 | Antonia Langford

Iran has agreed to surrender its stockpile of highly enriched uranium as part of a “largely negotiated” deal to end the war, according to US sources.

The deal includes an “apparent commitment” to giving up the uranium, but a concrete plan of how this would be done is expected to be established in further rounds of talks, two US officials told The New York Times.

Iran’s nuclear programme has been a sticking point in negotiations since the US and Tehran agreed to a ceasefire in April, and agreeing to give up its uranium would represent a major concession from the Islamic Republic.

However, Iran’s Tasnim news agency said on Sunday that Tehran was yet to accept any actions on its ‌nuclear programme, adding to the uncertainty over the deal.

The emerging agreement would also reopen the Strait of Hormuz without tolls during a 60-day ceasefire and allow Iran to resume unrestricted oil sales, according to a report by Axios citing a US official.

IF this is accurate, it will be a major victory for POTUS Trump and the US.

And I'll eat the derisive words I spoke about him.

Trump is an honest broker.
Iran is not.

So a true verification will be everything.

Based on Iranians’ likelihood to not abide by their agreement, I think some time has to pass to evaluate success.

Any deal that leaves the current regime in charge is a “SURRENDER”!

To be fair, we paid for it in 2012, and again in 2026 to isolate it from weapons production. I know it’s confusing to realize we paid for it with pallets of cash, then we drop $50 billion in bombs on it.....

They tend to lie. They’ll agree to do it but then they’ll never give it up.

Iran is a client state.

We’re not just negotiating with the mullahs.

Yasser Arafat knew he would be killed if he negotiated anything that the Palis would have to give up. The Iranians are worse. We better have our best and sleeziest lawyers on the negotiating team writing up any agreement with the Iranians to cover every possibility if it’s to have any chance of success for our side.

I hadn't yet spoken derisive words regarding Iran, but I would if he had made peace without resolving the nuclear issue. If this is the resolution we get, then he absolutely deserves to be applauded for this.

I will likewise applaud any positive outcome if it happens and endures.

I would not get out my knife and fork just yet.

This is a big turn around from the deal leaking out last night.

It will be fascinating if the US gets their hands on the uranium.

They’d then be able to trace its origins. I suspect the trail would lead to some eye-opening destinations. 🤨

Until one of Iran’s leaders comes out and says the words “ we agree to give up all our uranium “ I’m calling bullshit.
