Transit workers who labored at Ground Zero say they were erased from the history of the valiant rescue and recovery effort by the National September 11th Memorial and Museum. This week, they created a petition asking for “a prominent exhibit” there to showcase the 3,000 crane operators, dump truck drivers, earth movers and steel workers of Transit Workers Union Local 100 who helped in the effort. “We basically wound up on the editing room floor,” electronic equipment maintainer Mario Galvet told The Post. “In those first 48 hours, we were the biggest presence there. We had the firm belief that...

This week, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen predicted that “the Inflation Reduction Act will put us on our way toward a future where we totally depend on the wind, the sun and other clean sources of energy. We will free ourselves from our dependence on fossil fuels.” Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm echoed Yellen’s remarks and cited “the tremendous progress being made in California under Governor Gavin Newsom’s leadership. He’s got his state on track to outlaw gasoline-powered cars by 2035. He’s pushing to wean the state off coal- and gas-fueled electricity generation and going all wind and solar. I...

This upcoming Sunday marks one of only two times in the main Lectionary cycle that we hear the Parable of the Prodigal Son proclaimed (the other being the 4thSunday of Lent [C]). The Readings are marked by the theme of repentance and forgiveness. 1. Our First Reading is Exodus 32:7-11, 13-14: The LORD said to Moses, “Go down at once to your people, whom you brought out of the land of Egypt, for they have become depraved. They have soon turned aside from the way I pointed out to them, making for themselves a molten calf and worshiping it, sacrificing...

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher was accosted by a group of young people Thursday during his popular “Live on Patrol” show. Among the insults were: “You stupid b***h,” “I hope you die,” “You dirty ass, dumbass b***h,” “Go suck some more d***,” and “I hope you die, b***h.” “That’s Bob Fletcher, bro,” said one of the kids. Fletcher later explained they were likely upset because Ramsey County deputies arrested their friends for auto theft. “They’re friends of people that we’ve arrested in these stolen cars. They know that we’re out there arresting them in Kias and Hyundais on a regular...

Ukraine is considering shutting down the sole remaining reactor at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday, after shelling left the plant without a safe and sustainable source of backup power. The plant, which has already shut down five of its six reactors, risks having only one remaining source of electricity to power its systems in case the sixth reactor has to go offline, said Director General Rafael Grossi. Normally, if the plant can’t supply itself power, it can draw electricity from a nearby thermal-energy plant. But shelling overnight Thursday destroyed a switchyard that carries electricity...

The high-speed, bivalent Covid boosters are here, wrote Dr. Meryl Nass. “Watch out. There is nothing good about them, and we should be worried about why they are being used.” The US FDA and CDC have co-operated to issue emergency use authorisations and rollout new, bivalent Pfizer and Moderna Covid vaccines this week, without any human trials, which is unprecedented. These vaccines continue to enjoy extraordinary protection from liability, while the recipient has no access to the legal system in the case of injury. There is no evidence that the new vaccines are safe, while there is limited evidence that...

The Defense Ministry said it had pulled forces out of the village of Balakliya and the strategically crucial city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region, after a decision to “regroup” and transfer them to Donetsk in the south.” The retreat represents one of the biggest setbacks for Russia since President Vladimir V. Putin launched the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February. “In order to achieve the goals of the special military operation, a decision was made to...

University COVID-19 vaccine mandates are unethical because the vaccines are up to nearly 100 times more likely to cause a person of student age serious injury than prevent him or her from being hospitalized with COVID-19, a new study has concluded. The study, whose authors include Dr. Kevin Bardosh, a recipient of funding from the pro-vaccination Wellcome Trust led by Sir Jeremy Farrar, and Dr. Tracy Beth Høeg of the Florida Department of Health, presents a risk-benefit assessment of booster vaccines among people of student age and provides five ethical arguments against mandates. The researchers estimate that 22,000–30,000 previously uninfected...

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher stated that he liked that President Joe Biden gave the primetime speech he gave, but because people don’t get nuance, he’d be better off if he critiqued the fringe on the left on indoctrinating kids in school and crime, “and then he could not have to run again.” Maher said, “That he did it, I liked. The way he did it, not good. … I don’t think people saw the speech, the networks didn’t carry it. His big mistake was — well, two mistakes: One, thinking that Americans can appreciate...

-Rising interest rates combat inflation by encouraging companies to cut expenses — often at the cost of jobs. -An economist who served under Obama predicts a 6.5% average unemployment rate to reach desired inflation levels. -That would reverse the current trend in which companies are scrambling to hire workers, not fire them. Inflation in the US looks like it's peaked, but we're not out of the woods yet. The fight to bring down surging price growth could mean a rough two years for job seekers — a hard pivot from the power they've enjoyed during the Great Resignation. That's according...
