Democrats are plotting their next moves on a massive social spending package that advances much of President Biden’s economic agenda, but they’ll also have to resolve several internal battles that are starting to heat up. Congressional Democrats are refocusing their attention on the so-called human infrastructure proposal now that Senate passage of a short-term debt limit bill is in the rearview mirror. Lawmakers say the debt limit deal that resulted in a Senate vote on Thursday night clears the way for Democrats to devote their time to the spending package. “Senate Democrats will focus on passing [the] Build Back Better...

Thousands of demonstrators marched down Rome’s famous Via Veneto and other streets on Saturday, some smashing their way into a union office and clashing with police as they protested Italy’s new “Green Pass” vaccination requirement for employees to enter their offices. The certification is mandatory beginning on Oct. 15 and applies to public and private workplaces. Both employees and employers risk fines if they don’t comply. Public sector workers can be suspended if they show up five times without a Green Pass. The pass is already required in Italy to enter museums, theaters, gyms and indoor restaurants, as well as...

A few random, loosely related thoughts for a rainy Sunday:How did this happen? By banishing morals and ethics from our institutions in the name of “fairness” and “equity” and replacing them with relativism and subjectivism which are the playgrounds of scoundrels. It happened when we allowed moral evaluation to be displaced by perception, received wisdom, and “consensus” defined as majority opinion; by allowing truth to be replaced by relativism and subjectivism, both of which spring from the domain of feelings. This means something very different to liberals than it does to conservatives and libertarians: please discuss amongst yourselves.Hint: Some believe that...

Black reporter: 'If we don't have a definition, how can we say it's racist?' Opposing the Marxist-based Critical Race Theory is racist, but defining CRT doesn't matter, because it's not being taught in schools. That was the stance taken by former Democratic National Committee chairman and Clinton acolyte Terry McAuliffe in a televised candidate forum Thursday night in his run for governor of Virginia.

On April 23, 1910, at the Sorbonne in Paris, America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt delivered his celebrated speech, entitled “Citizenship in a Republic”. A prominent passage of Roosevelt’s address is known as “The Man in the Arena”. That famous section speaks to those who take risks. People who put their time, money, effort, and reputation on the line knowing they may fail, yet nevertheless commit to improving themselves and helping to move others to a better place. Roughly halfway through his remarks Roosevelt declared: “It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong...

A circuit breaker of an electric generator that supplied homes with power in 2019 is pictured in the Lebanese capital Beirut's southern suburbs. Anwar Amro/AFP via Getty Images Much of Lebanon is without power following outages in the country's core power plants. The Zahrani plant lost power on Saturday and the Deir Ammar plant shut down the day before, Reuters reports. Both outages are linked to the ongoing scarcity of fuel in the country. The two plants, among Lebanon's largest, are responsible for supplying 40% of the country's power, according to the BBC. The nation's power grid is not expected...

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California on Saturday became the first state to say large department stores must display products like toys and toothbrushes in gender-neutral ways, a win for LGBT advocates who say the pink and blue hues of traditional marketing methods pressure children to conform to gender stereotypes. The new law, signed by Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, does not outlaw traditional boys and girls sections at department stores. Instead, it says large stores must also have a gender neutral section to display “a reasonable selection” of items “regardless of whether they have been traditionally marketed for either girls or for...

A potent, winterlike storm is forecast to spread from the Northwest and across the Rockies this week and deliver widespread accumulating snowfall that will be a welcome sight for snow lovers and an early-season boon to ski resorts. Snowfall totals could be measured in feet rather than inches. Some of the heaviest snowfall accumulations are expected to reside somewhere near Wyoming's Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 26 corridors, where 1-2 feet of snow and an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 30 inches are possible. It may turn into a race to see which of Colorado's ski resorts can open for the...

Jews and Christians can pray on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Why is that news? At the conclusion of the 1967 Six Day War, Israel negotiated a ceasefire with the Arab countries that had gone to war against it. A ceasefire, not peace. Israelis believed that after the crushing defeat of the Arab armies and loss of vast territory, the Arabs would finally realize that they could not win militarily, and that Israel was a reality to live with, not fight against. Many believed that all that was needed was to negotiate to return the land and the Arabs would...

CHINA is preparing to unleash its nuclear submarines which hide 12 nuclear missiles in their distinctive "humpback". Beijing has reportedly been pushing through upgrades for the Type 094 "Jin" class boats amid the threat of a potential military clash with the US. Fears of war are rising as China makes increasingly bold pushes towards the separatist island of Taiwan, with President Xi Jingping pledging "reunification". US military chiefs have always promised to defend the island enclave, but a potential military confrontation with China is feared to risk spiraling into a theoretical World War 3. China appear to making the ready...

It remains true to this day that “money is a root of all kinds of evil” (Paul, writing in 1 Timothy 6:10), which is why greed can corrupt the best of us if we are not careful. And that’s why it shouldn’t surprise us if Big Pharma, along with the abortion industry, has been influenced by greed. Why should they be exempt? Think of a pastor who plants a church in his city because he loves the people of his community. He works a full-time job in addition to doing pastoral work. But he does so with joy, putting in...

Primo Levi, a Holocaust survivor of Italian origin who led a distinguished life, was at the Auschwitz concentration camp hospital one day due to high fever caused by an infectious disease. He later wrote in his memoirs that when confronted with Soviet soldiers: "They neither greeted nor smiled; they seemed to be tormented by the guilt of why this crime had to happen." The trial of one of the perpetrators of another heinous crime, the massacre of 30,000 Iranian political prisoners in 1988, is currently taking place in a Swedish court. What happened in 1988 was a ruthless, bloody, and...

Sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing: ~If you go to a small-town school-board meeting to protest an already crap and globally embarrassing eduction system devolving into toxic anti-white, anti-American propaganda, you are liable to investigation by a dirty, stinking, rotten, corrupt federal "justice" system and its specially appointed "task force"; ~If you are an acclaimed glass-ceiling shatterer, the first "openly bisexual" and "openly non-theist" female senator in the history of the republic, you cannot enter a bathroom stall without being stalked, yelled at and filmed by a law-breaking alien who shouldn't even be in your country, never mind...

Prince Andrew will not return to public life after Charles, Edward and Anne closed the door on him and William branded him a 'threat to the royal family', it has been claimed. Scotland Yard is also reported to have spoken to the Duke of York's sexual assault accuser Virginia Giuffre over claims she was raped and sexually assaulted by Andrew when she was 17. The royal has come under intense scrutiny over the claims and over his friendship with paedophile financier Jeffery Epstein. Andrew, who is not facing any criminal charges, 'categorically' denies Ms Giuffre's claims against him and is...
