Having colleges or even the Olympics permit biological men to compete in women's sports is one thing; pretending that it is fair, is something else. There is no argument that a person's sex is determined at the moment of conception, and that fertilization of an egg occurs with either an "X" or "Y" sperm cell, which will only determine one of two sexes. Following conception, the development pathways of males and females diverge immediately and substantially, right down to a cellular DNA level. These bifurcating pathways endure throughout an individual's lifetime. Every single nucleated cell in the human body has...

Medical professionals who are transgender are questioning gender reassignment procedures for children. Dr. Marci Bowers, who specializes in vaginoplasty, and Erica Anderson, a clinical psychologist at the University of California, San Francisco's Child and Adolescent Gender Clinic, discussed the risks that come with gender reassignment surgery for children. "I think there was naivete on the part of pediatric endocrinologists who were proponents of early [puberty] blockage thinking that just this magic can happen, that surgeons can do anything," Bowers said. Bowers operated on transgender reality television star Jazz Jennings in June 2018. "This is typical of medicine. We zig and...

Following nearly 14 hours of delay tactics by Democrats, the Texas House failed to pass a measure to require transgender student-athletes to participate in sports that match their biological sex rather than their gender identity. Those delay efforts ranged from extensive question and answer periods during bill layouts to introduction of multiple long-winded debates relating to bill amendments. Some liberal lawmakers even recited stanzas of the Texas state song and the national anthem during discussion about a bill to require professional sports teams that have contracts with governmental entities to play the national anthem before games. The delays focused on...

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s comments have gotten her into hot water recently, but she also said something that largely slipped under the radar – that it’s a “myth” and “unscientific” that transgender women have a “direct competitive advantage” in women’s powerlifting. hen the practice of sex-change surgery first emerged back in the early 1970s, I would often remind its advocating psychiatrists that with other patients, alcoholics in particular, they would quote the Serenity Prayer, "God, give me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." Where did they get the idea that our sexual identity ("gender" was the term they preferred) as men or women was in the category of things that could be changed?Their regular response was to show me their patients. Men (and...
