Having colleges or even the Olympics permit biological men to compete in women's sports is one thing; pretending that it is fair, is something else.
There is no argument that a person's sex is determined at the moment of conception, and that fertilization of an egg occurs with either an "X" or "Y" sperm cell, which will only determine one of two sexes. Following conception, the development pathways of males and females diverge immediately and substantially, right down to a cellular DNA level. These bifurcating pathways endure throughout an individual's lifetime.
Every single nucleated cell in the human body has 46 sex-specific "XY" chromosomes (denoting biological male sex) or "XX" chromosomes (denoting biological female sex). These nucleated cells in turn have sex-specific functions which guide their development and biological function.
Indeed, sex is not just "skin deep." It persists down to a microscopic, cellular level, and biological sex is indicated within the 100 trillion (or so) cells in the human body.
Bottom line: the indelible imprint of biological sex—determined in utero and at the moment of conception—is not scientifically or clinically possible to alter.

Well, remember, Newsweek got sold for $1 a while back, and if I remember correctly, I think the new owner is not the typical leftist type, but someone who actually wants to turn the business around and make money.
How’s this for an idea? No more taxpayer supported sex segregated sports. No women’s teams or mens teams just one team thats entirely by merit. This includes state supported schools. Man or woman you either hack it or you don’t. If you want sex segregated teams you can still have them but on your own dime. Give the libs what the equality they’ve been asking for, eliminates the whining about women’s teams getting short shrift, and solves the trans problem at the same time.

I’m really shocked in this entire fiasco that women aren’t more outraged about being sidelined, and that gay people don’t find the transgender movement to be invasive. There’s nothing gay about transgenderism. In fact, it’s completely opposite of gay. Until women and gays wake up, this circus will not stop…
I’d like someone at a publication like Newsweek to do a legal analysis that demonstrates how segregated sports competitions for men and women are even allowed under civil rights law when the line between the two sexes in just about every other walk of life has been erased.

Yes, he bungled it here. Pharmacology guy not a geneticist. There is one pair of chromosomes which are either xx or xy. The rest are all about different stuff. There are not “46 sex-specific chromosomes.” This kind of mistake discredits real scientists trying to get the truth out.
My reaction as well. I don't think they quite knew what they were trying to say.
Not “scientifically” unsound (what’s that even mean?) but statistically unsound definitely, ethically unsound certainly.
I may have to run for cover here after posting this, but I suspect most women don't put up much resistance to this because they know women's sports are awful.
As comedian Bill Burr pointed out in an epic rant on stage, most women's sports leagues are financial disasters because women don't even watch them.
The average male can break the average female in half. The average very fit male can break the average very fit female in half. To suggest otherwise is to deny science, mock biology, and create real danger to women and girls.
