when rome receded, europe saw a long period of people living in the ruins of a more advanced civilization. bridges fell and no one knew how to fix them. stone homes were repaired with thatch. medicine and technology were lost. crop yields fell. sanitation became once more vile. social and cultural cohesion disintegrated. the dark ages decended. "that could never happen again" seems a popular view, but is it true? to be sure, in modern times, outside knowledge like "how to make a cell phone" will be preserved by global communication and markets, but if we're going to be seriously...

A whistleblower lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of California, Fresno County, accuses Community Regional Medical Center of covering up a dramatic rise in stillbirths following COVID-19 vaccination. Nurse Michelle Spencer, who has worked at the hospital since 2017, says the spike began in spring 2021, shortly after the rollout of COVID shots. Prior to that, the hospital reportedly saw about one stillbirth per month. After the vaccine push, that number jumped to approximately 20 each month — and has remained high ever since. According to the complaint, hospital management had access to internal data showing that nearly all the...

Visitors to Las Vegas overall dropped 11.3% in June 2025, compared to the same month last year. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, international visitors to one of the world’s largest tourist destinations dropped 13% in June. “A lot of departments are having a lot of layoffs,” said Norma Torres, a housekeeper for eight years at Mandalay Bay and a member of...

Nancy Pelosi is probably kicking herself over her most recent X post, because it opened a can of worms she never wanted spilled. But TDS got in the way, and she couldn’t help herself. In a desperate effort to smear President Trump’s plan to clean up DC’s deadly streets, Pelosi took to X and claimed that Trump “delayed” deploying the National Guard on January 6… a claim that instantly blew back on her, in a big way, dredging up an old debate about her role that day. ... But even worse for Pelosi was the blistering response from former Capitol...

Daily Readings from the USCCB“What is your opinion? If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine in the hills and go in search of the stray? And if he finds it, amen, I say to you, he rejoices more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not stray. In just the same way, it is not the will of your heavenly Father that one of these little ones be lost." Matthew 18:12–14It is so easy to go astray. There are many wandering souls who are lost, confused, and...

The Hollywood Bowl has never been shy about mocking God, but this summer it outdid itself. Jesus Christ Superstar was dragged back onto the stage, only this time the crown was handed to Cynthia Erivo, a black lesbian actress who strutted as “Jesus,” while Adam Lambert played Judas. The lights blazed, the crowd cheered…and the gospel itself was thrown under the bus. Erivo knew the outrage was coming. But she grinned, shrugged, and brushed it off with a smug “Why not?” Her explanation was simple enough. Broadway is “the gayest place on Earth.” That was her sermon. Not the Lamb...

On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas launched a brutal assault on Israel. As 5,000 rockets slammed into civilian targets, terrorists massacred at least 1,200 Israelis, wounded about 3,500, and took 251 hostages. They raped, eviscerated, mutilated, beheaded, tortured, and incinerated their victims. At least 75 hostages have died, and about 20 remain in captivity. Prior to the attack, 137 UN member countries recognized Palestinian statehood. Apparently unbothered by Hamas’ savagery, and distressed by Israel’s aggressive military response, 10 additional nations recognized Palestine after the attack. In the last month, Australia, Britain, Canada, and France provisionally joined them. Led by France, the...

Despite President Donald Trump’s decision to federalize the Washington D.C. police force and deploy the National Guard to fight violent crime in the nation’s capital, he cannot deliver on his threat to do the same in Chicago, state and local officials said Monday. “If we need to, we’re going to do the same thing in Chicago, which is a disaster. We have a man there who’s totally incompetent. He’s an incompetent man,” Trump said, referring to Mayor Brandon Johnson. “And we have an incompetent governor there. Pritzker is an incompetent,” Trump added, referring to Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker. And now...

Your Spouse Started Antidepressants and Became a StrangerI don’t know who this person is anymore,” James told me, his voice cracking as he described his wife of fifteen years. “She started Zoloft eight months ago for some mild anxiety about work. Now she’s rewritten our entire history together. According to her new narrative, I’ve been emotionally abusive for years. She’s filed for divorce, moved in with some guy she met at a yoga retreat, and told our kids that daddy was never really there for them.”He paused, searching for words. “The strangest part? She seems completely unbothered by destroying our...
