From my AI discussion:

BUTCHER'S THUMB — May 3rd, 2026

This week’s butcher’s thumb shows a strong pattern across the major networks: heavy emphasis on economic policy, institutional authority, and Democratic-aligned voices, with Republicans represented primarily through moderates, institutional figures, or voices not aligned with the party’s current direction. Sunday Morning Futures remains the only show consistently booking officials aligned with the GOP’s present leadership and priorities.

FACE THE NATION (CBS)
CBS is running an “economic policy + Democratic leadership + institutional authority” hour. Hassett provides a technical economic lane. Warnock and Crow add two Democratic voices, giving the hour a clear partisan tilt. Kashkari brings Federal Reserve framing, and Wirth adds corporate energy-sector perspective. The guest mix leans toward institutional and Democratic-aligned voices, with no current Republican officeholder included.

What to watch:
Whether Brennan frames the hour around inflation and economic management, or uses Warnock and Crow to pivot toward Democratic legislative narratives.

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network)
Fox is running a “homeland security + judicial authority” hour. Mullin anchors the DHS lane, and Justice Gorsuch provides a rare Supreme Court interview. The panel blends political strategy, institutional analysis, and media framing. This is a more balanced hour structurally, with a mix of ideological perspectives on the panel.

What to watch:
How Bream balances Mullin’s policy-heavy segment with Gorsuch’s judicial philosophy discussion.

MEET THE PRESS (NBC)
NBC is running a “legal authority + Democratic leadership + political analysis” hour. Blanche provides the institutional legal lane. Schiff adds a high-profile Democratic voice. The panel leans center-left, with a mix of reporting, political communications, and Democratic-aligned analysis. No Republican-aligned voice is included in the main interview block.

What to watch:
Whether Welker uses Blanche’s segment as a brief procedural anchor before shifting the hour toward Democratic messaging.

THIS WEEK (ABC)
ABC is running an “economic policy + Democratic Senate voice + global energy analysis” hour. Duffy anchors the administration lane. Reed provides the Democratic Senate perspective. Swonk and Young add economic and energy-policy expertise. The roundtable blends strategists and analysts, with only one Republican-aligned voice among several Democratic or center-left commentators.

What to watch:
Whether ABC frames the economic discussion around administration policy successes or broader global uncertainty.

STATE OF THE UNION (CNN)
CNN is running a “legal authority + Democratic perspective + nominal Republican counterbalance” hour. Pirro anchors the prosecutorial lane. Frank provides a long-standing Democratic voice. Tillis is presented as the Republican, but he is out of alignment with his party’s current direction and not seeking re-election, allowing CNN to claim partisan balance without hosting a voice aligned with the GOP’s present leadership. The panel blends former lawmakers and strategists, leaning center-left.

What to watch:
How Tapper/Bash uses Tillis: whether as a counterpoint or as a way to frame Republican positions through a non-aligned figure.

SUNDAY MORNING FUTURES (FNC)
Futures is running a “economic leadership + diplomacy + state governance + national security” hour. Bessent anchors the Treasury lane. Turner provides diplomatic perspective. Abbott and Pfluger add state-level and congressional Republican leadership. The panel of Hanson and Smith brings strategic, historical, and geopolitical analysis. This remains the only show consistently booking voices aligned with the GOP’s current priorities.

What to watch:
Whether Bartiromo structures the hour around economic policy or uses Abbott’s segment as the anchor.

Ecosystem Summary
This week’s lineups emphasize economic policy, institutional authority, and Democratic-aligned voices across most networks. CBS leans heavily Democratic with institutional framing, Fox blends security and judicial authority, NBC centers Democratic leadership, ABC emphasizes economic and energy policy with a Democratic tilt, CNN uses a nominal Republican voice not aligned with the party’s current direction, and Bartiromo delivers the only hour aligned with the GOP’s present leadership and national priorities.

“The Sunday Morning Bray”, by Bray!

Romans 12:12 (King James Version)

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

After hearing the thousandth criticism of how President Trump is too crude and needs to be more presidential you had to axe, how about you accept him for who he is. He has only done the best job of President since Washington so who exactly are you wanting him to talk like? He could speak like Charleston Heston and they would still hate him with a white-hot passion so why exactly should he change?

King Charles comes to the White House and President Trump speaks exactly like he always does and King Charles speaks as friendly as he has to anyone in the world. Trump never changed his speech pattern and did his usual telling his own story and King Charles honors him with a ships bell from the HMS Trump. There is an obvious trust and comfort he has with President Trump who he gets to let take the entire stage.

President Trump is the real deal who does not change to pander to this group or that. He may tell them how much he loves them or how they are his favorite group but not try to be them when he is not. He is obviously high society but does not separate himself from the average guy who he has been around his entire career. He is used to carpenters and carpet layers as he is with bankers and billionaires, he simply has a gift.

What the salty language and everyday guy speech does for him is it allows others to underestimate him and his knowledge. He is obviously a genius who understands and has been emersed in economics his entire life but allows people to assume he does not. This is why when he looks at something like Iran having a nuclear weapon and the ability to hold the entire world hostage he knew something had to be done to make sure it never happened.

It looks at the world as a giant economy and knows energy is the lifeblood of economic activity. Nothing moves or is made without energy and oil is the most efficient energy in the world. It is the easiest energy to transport and convert into usable power making it a strategic need. The world has been paying a premium for Iran’s unpredictability who could shut down and terrorize the Middle East and oil transport whenever it wanted.

The new sheriff said enough of your terror and took the teeth out of the lion. It is still doing what it can to close the strait but he knows they are running out of time economically without their oil revenues. This has suddenly turned into the cheapest war in US histoir as he has set the blockade to destroy the Iranian economy without leveling its infrastructure so it can produce oil in the future. He wants them to be a world producer and ally rather than the heart of terrorism.

This is a lofty goal and a risky one but one which needed to be attempted. He sees the world as a giant spreadsheet and sees he can fight this war economically rather than physically. Unlike Bush and every other President, he is not loading up hundreds of billions of tanks and soldiers he is simply parking the navy in the way of their exports destroying their economy. He is looking at those war costs and sees it is marginally more than simply parking them in Hawaii or patrolling the world trade routes.

His experts are keeping up on hand what it is costing Iran per day. He also knows they are running out of storage space for oil being pumped. The clock is ticking and Iran is on the short end of their clock. It sounds like there are severe consequences for not pumping oil from miles underground that they do not want to face.

This is a smart way to run a war and President Trump is speaking their language. He does not need fancy rhetoric as he is pressuring them into submission. This may be the cheapest war ever run and looking like the most effective. At what point do the NeverTrumpers stop and say let Trump be Trump. Admit you are wrong and his way is working so let Trump be Trump.

Pray for Trump’s safety

Note: The above opinion is not necessarily my own, but FReeper Bray’s. If you wish to discuss this, please ping Bray.

Brilliant by any thoughts, extremely well done.

I liked this one:

The new sheriff said enough of your terror and took the teeth out of the lion. It is still doing what it can to close the straits but he knows they are running out of time economically without their oil revenues.

This has suddenly turned into the cheapest war in US history as he has set the blockade to destroy the Iranian economy without leveling its infrastructure so it can produce oil in the future. He wants them to be a world producer and ally rather than the heart of terrorism. ......................................

Great post and the key is for the mullahs to run out of money no question.

I did this a few hours ago:

Trump may have just re-started the 60 day clock. If so he may have several things in mind.

My guess is Trump really doesn't want to spend the next 60 days in Iran with as much firepower ships and planes as he has now.

I'm also guessing that he may have talked a few of Iran's' neighbors, maybe UAE and the Saudis, possibly others, into coming up with a few troops, some arms and other goodies for the makeup of the war to be more than just the US and Israel.

That's important.

This could be important since it never made sense for him to use ground troops in Iran when none of the surrounding countries would participate. Especially considering they had the most to lose.

So did he talk some into helping out? Will we ever find out about it?

Hard to say.

Will the president decide to take over Kharg island? It's a key to much of Iran's revenue. That's key since Pres. Trump is in the process of bankrupting the chaotic whacked out muslim regime.

Once the money is gone, the last buck,it's a whole new game for them and the IGRC. As insane as they are about living to die its harder to do when you are broke. No food no bullets makes it harder to envision 72 virgins.!!

If we took Kharg Island over along with the revenue it would be a whole new ball game. Might salvage a few oil wells before they are worthless. If we did take it over we might also learn where other avenues of revenue exist.

Once we take over Kargh Island would the straits be reopened? Especially if we controlled the flow of vessels.? Does Trump/Israel have a bunch of new targets to hit in Iran without destroying the infrastructure of Iran's' people?

Iran now has people who now have one of the fastest growing number of Christians in the world.Who wants to make life any harder for them.?

Lots of if,ands and buts,to consider.

I always bet on DJT and always will.

Always a strong woman behind a strong man

Here's more:

I'm wondering about the peace agreement with terrorists. To begin with DJT already knows that there is no piece of paper the terrorists will sign that has any meaning at all. They break any and all agreements and think nothing of it. It's in their religion to do so, taqiyya, which further goes to the reality that islam is a cult,a death cult and never was a religion.

So when you have a guilty party like the IGRC signing a peace treaty that will never stand what does Trump really have in mind? My guess is that Trump may establish a military type of "system" to deal with Iran that can slowly but surely be taken over by Christian Iranians. Quite possibly friendly neighbors like the Saudis,UAE and others will also aide in the peace-keeping.

Trump knows that infidels can never manage islamos especially whacked out islamos. The bigger question is can the Saudis and the UAE assist in Iran since they are predominantly Sunni. One wonders if the "follow the money rule" will eclipse the Sunni/Shia disagreements? Hard to say.

It's likely that DJT can arrange a mgmt. plan to run the mad mullahs with some US military support but far less than what we have now. Once that is accomplished he slowly turns it over to the legally elected officials from Iran with possibly some help from friendly neighbors like the Saudis or UAE.

It's a possibility and since those creating all the chaos won't abide by any piece of paper only force Trump will do his usual work-around to get to where he wants to be.

Truth be known "Time" is a double edged sword for the President. On the one hand the longer we are in Iran in a big way the tougher it gets in the mid terms. The commie dems will be lying their asses off about anything he does. But on the other hand the longer we have the upper hand in Iran the mullahs will get that much closer to being flat broke. Trumps plan needs the mullahs to be broke and he is likely very close.

Here's Kharg Island:

Is this the keys to the kingdom? Will taking over the island finally force the mullahs hand?

The US naval embargo has effectively already put Kharg island out of business

It is a done deal

I’ll be curious to see if any of the legacies mention the celebration of the communist holiday of May Day on Friday? (protest per organizers) To me the most amazing part was the number of schools across the land that were closed,as demanded by the NEA, in order to allow their students to participate. Seriously?? Why anyone would let their child attend the public indoctrination system with these lunatics at the head of the class is frightening.

OUtstanding, however there are some serious oil well production that needs to be addressed,

chatgpt40 mini tells us that:

Iran is facing a significant crisis in its oil production capacity due to limited storage options amidst ongoing U.S. naval blockades. Reports indicate that Iran could run out of oil storage space within weeks, compelling the nation to shut down wells, which could lead to irreversible damage to its oil fields and long-term production capabilities.

For the people of Iran this would be a huge loss in crude oil revenue if they were to get in control of crude oil and it's revenue. It's definitely a consideration in the overall picture that is Iran over the next few weeks.

Once these pipelines and storage capabilities are shut down its a crisis for Iran and its people. The key is who runs the show at that time?

School unions have all but destroyed public education.

What needs to happen is parents need control of the thousands of dollars they pay in various taxes to schools. (always follow the money)

In some cases it's in excess of $10,000 per year.

This is big money and parents need access to it for private schools that actually educate kids instead of indoctrinate them.

These kids deserve a good education not indoctrination:

That reality is going to begin very soon, perhaps today or this week.

Being ignorant of the facts of the matter, I maintain certain skepticism. However, crude production cessation aside, the fact remains. Oil shipments from Iran have ceased.

The pillaging of the general population must begin to attempt to create the money requires to support the IRGC

Poor old HAMAS and Hezbollah.

The report this week that Iran is successfully getting some goods out,and war materials in by road/rail thanks to Pakistan and Turkey is a huge problem. The issue here is that in this part of the world your friends are enemies. It gets right back to your earlier post about trusting any agreement signed by these people.

For those whose eyes are ‘open’, the damage from the jabs is everywhere. In our circle of friends, family & church members, it’s cancer, heart & dementia. With cancer, it’s recurrences after a decade or more, multiple kinds of cancer, or terminal diagnosis right out of the gate (upon initial diagnosis). Just in the last month, 2 sudden deaths from cardiac arrest, both unexpected, accelerated atherosclerosis, lots of Afib, weird heart tumor in a cousin. The dementia is affecting increasingly younger people - very sad to see them decline. Strokes are happening a lot in younger & younger folks. And on it goes, as you well know.

Economic effect of Iranian war now under discussion with shannon. Spirit air goes broke after several chapter whatevers didn't work.Funding renewed for agencies not funded except for ice of course, dirty dems still at it.

Wayne Mullin explains how catch-up works in govt. when the money is shut off. It's a disaster. People quit, bills not paid, etc. etc.for instance coast guard is 18,000 vessels behind licensing vessels on the water. They may catch up by the end of summer.

Mullin says morale is high but work load is endless.

Shannon asks Mullin how do you hire people when you know the dems will shut off the money?

Mullin says:

WE CAN'T ARGUE WITH CRAZY

Good as it gets mullin gets it.

Jamie Raskin,Mel K's fav. criminal dem, now lying his ass off in congress. Much of what he says is a huge load of BS or exaggeration.Mel K destroys Raskin almost daily since he's one of the worst dems in congress.

After mullin destroys dems she gets rid of him real quick. Shannon takes a look at Tony Snow first host of Fox news Sunday 30 years ago.Chris Wallace went 18 years on the show. wallace a guest with shannon he tells how he brought politicians on Tim russert was the king at the time.

Brit Hume says FNC was different after 911 he says other nets blamed the us FNC did not.he says panel is a love hate situation with the audience.

He says he held power to account gives Comey as an example. shannon has the old panel on today. Karl Rove up first. Rove brings up terrorist demands to Trump. He asks if Trump goes back to bombing terror targets, lets hope he does.

Susan Page next she says war is unpopular, shes hard left these days. Juan now war powers act under discussion. He says 2/3 of Americans don't want the war. He says terrorists won't respond to bombing.

Kelly Anne Conaway says war is always unpopular. She says no one wants Iran to have nukes. She says Trump won't pass Iranian Mullahs problems on to the next president. He wants a solution.
