Bishops’ LGBT Statement LackingCompassion without doctrineNEW YORK (ChurchMilitant.com) - A pastoral statement from pro-LGBT bishops on youth with same-sex attraction is notable for what it does not say. Issued on Monday, the document, titled "God is on Your Side," denounces the bullying of so-called LGBT young people. While it speaks eloquently of the love and mercy of God and the evil of harassment and hazing, it nevertheless keeps silent on God's universal call to chastity, the morality of homosexual behavior and gender ideology. As of press time, ten bishops so far have signed the statement:Cdl. Joseph Tobin of NewarkAbp. John Wester...

The Biden administration is eliminating an office that was recently created to protect many millions of American graduates — including Biden’s young voters — from government-fueled corporate discrimination in hiring, pay, and workplace rights. The worker-rights office was announced January 13 by President Donald Trump’s deputies and canceled January 26 by Biden’s deputies. The short-lived office was intended to document and expose the corporate discrimination against Americans that is fueled by the huge Occupational Practical Training (OPT) program. In 2019, the OPT program provided work permits to 400,000 foreign graduates so they can take the jobs and opportunities needed by...

Every human has been hot wired with a special faith component to our souls, even agnostics and atheists have faith in what they believe. Another way to explain this would be to say we have all been created with an addiction gene. It's that ever yearning desire to find something that will make us feel like we belong, or comfortable in our own skin if you will. From the moment we become conscious of our self, we begin searching for that One Thing our soul craves. For each of us it could be a different point in life. Some find it...

Potassium is an important nutrient for many body processes. Bananas are a well-known source of potassium, but many other foods contain just as much — if not more — of this nutrient. Potassium is an electrolyte that helps regulate fluid and blood levels in the body. Many fruits and vegetables are excellent sources of potassium. Meat, milk, yogurt, and nuts are also good sources. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a diet high in potassium and low in sodium — an electrolyte in table salt and processed foods — can lower blood pressure and reduce the...

Mitch (via his Twitter feed).."Today, I made clear that if Democrats ever attack the key Senate rules, it would drain the consent and comity out of the institution. A scorched-earth Senate would hardly be able to function. It wouldn’t be a progressive’s dream. It would be a nightmare. I guarantee it."

A historic pub in the centre of Oxford that has served students, scholars and literary greats for over 450 years is to close. The Lamb and Flag, once frequented by the likes of Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien and his friend C.S. Lewis, who wrote The Chronicles of Narnia, has suffered a disastrous loss of revenues since the start of the pandemic. It first opened in 1566 and moved to its present location on St Giles, a broad thoroughfare in the city centre, in 1613. It is owned by St John’s College, one of 45 colleges and private...

Antifa has seen a steady increase in media attention ever since President Donald Trump was first inaugurated in January 2017. They often portray themself as a highly organized group of “terrorists” worthy of national watch lists. The right blames Antifa members for rioting and looting. Democrats haven’t condemned such violence and many on the left say the rhetoric about Antifa is greatly exaggerated, and that it’s less of an organized movement than just something of “an idea.” Joe Biden, during the first presidential debate on Tuesday, dismissed Antifa as “an idea” when asked to condemn left-wing violent extremism – but...

This is a video documentary on Thomas Sowell that I highly recommend.

Top officials in Puerto Rico say they believe they can make progress toward statehood, after voters on the island approved a statehood referendum and now that Democrats control Congress and the White House. In interviews, Gov. Pedro Pierluisi (D) and Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González-Colón (R) said they believed they can build bipartisan support for a statehood measure in the House this year, though both acknowledged the uphill fight such a bill would face in the Senate. “It will have a substantial majority of support with votes from both sides of the aisle. Primarily Democrats, but there will be a significant...

The Department of Homeland Security issued a national terrorism alert warning that violent domestic extremists could attack in the coming weeks, emboldened by the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol. DHS, in an alert issued Wednesday, said violent extremists opposed to the government and the presidential transition “could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence,” though the department said it doesn’t have evidence of a specific plot. The DHS release was part of a public alert called a National Terrorism Advisory System bulletin. The alert is the department’s first in about a year. The last such bulletin from...

China reserves all options against Taiwan, including the use of force, a Chinese official said Wednesday while issuing a veiled warning at the new administration of Joe Biden. China claims Taiwan is a breakaway province determined to declare independence with the help of "external forces," despite Taipei's repeated statements to the contrary. The Taiwan Affairs Office, which is established under China's State Council, returned to familiar rhetoric on Wednesday when spokesperson Zhu Fenglian blamed Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for destabilizing the Taiwan Strait. It was Zhu's first press conference since two large groups of People's Liberation Army warplanes...

The Fairfax County school system demanded and then received high-priority placement for teachers and administrators to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Those vaccines began a week ago, and, according to the Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Scott Brabrand, 5,000 teachers have received their first dose and an additional 22,000 teachers are registered to receive their first dose soon. And yet, having jumped to the front of the vaccine line, Brabrand, the FCPS School Board and the teachers union are delaying opening schools. That raises the question of why they have the priority placement to begin with, and whether these vaccinations...

President Joe Biden will sign several executive actions related to the climate crisis on Wednesday, including one directing the secretary of the interior to pause on entering into new oil and natural gas leases on public lands or offshore waters. The executive order directs the interior secretary to launch a "rigorous review" of the existing leasing and permitting programs related to fossil fuel development, and to identify steps to double renewable energy production from offshore wind by 2030, according to a fact sheet provided by the White House. The halting of new leases fulfills a campaign promise by Biden and...
