LIV Golf paid $15.6 million in retention payments to executives before filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to court documents. The largest payment went to CEO Scott O'Neil, who received a $6.375 million retention bonus on June 24, less than three months before the league's bankruptcy filing. Just months before, O'Neil received a bonus of about $2.7 million in February. From Sept. 12, 2025, to Aug. 28, 2026, he was paid more than $13.6 million in payroll, bonuses, benefits, retention payments and expense reimbursements ... O'Neil was far from the only beneficiary. President Donald Trump threatened to veto every piece of legislation put forward during the second half of his administration if Democrats flip control of the House or Senate during next month’s midterm elections. “Well, I think the Republicans are going to win. But if there was, you call it gridlock, what happens is I veto everything,” Trump told reporters Friday morning while speaking on the South Lawn. “And then the Democrats come and they want to make a deal. So we’ll work it out.” Historical precedent and polling data suggest Democrats are on the cusp of flipping at least the...

Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic conceded defeat in parliamentary elections on Oct. 25 to the student-led protest movement that has gripped the nation for months. “Based on a stratified sample, it is clear that we have lost this election. The student blockade list won,” Vucic said in a press briefing. According to Vucic, the Students' List party, backed by the protest coalition, is projected to take between 135 and 140 seats in Serbia's Parliament. Vucic's Serbian Progressive Party appears to have come in second in the elections, and will have 105 seats in Parliament.

Rapper Nicki Minaj joined President Trump in Michigan for a rally on Sunday, decked out in head-to-toe Gucci — as one of Trump’s top aides joked she could fill a very high-profile vacancy in the White House. The “Super Bass” hitmaker was spotted walking alongside Trump as they stepped off Air Force One at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, marking another high-profile appearance alongside the president. White House Communications Director Steven Cheung, who is known for trolling people on social media, shared a video of Minaj arriving with Trump and playfully suggesting she could be headed to the briefing room....

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Mallory McMorrow, the Democratic state senator who dropped out of the Michigan U.S. Senate race ahead of the August primary, says a fake poll helped sink her campaign after it admitted it fabricated its data. Wedgewood Polls, a self-described polling firm with an X account created in June 2026, released the survey on June 29. It showed progressive Abdul El-Sayed at 46%, moderate Haley Stevens and McMorrow at 9%. It also had McMorrow trailing Republican Mike Rogers, who was unopposed for the nomination. In a statement Tuesday, Wedgewood said it fabricated the results as a “social...

Running a political campaign is no easy feat. For Democrat Mary Peltola, the former congresswoman from Alaska who is running against Republican Sen. Dan Sullivan for a Senate seat, things just got more difficult after she was injured in a three-vehicle accident Saturday as she was headed to the Alaska Federation of Natives’ annual banquet. The Anchorage Police Department reported the Democrat Senate nominee's vehicle was rear-ended and then hit a third vehicle. Luckily, no one was seriously injured, but Peltola will have to cancel several campaign events even though we’re only nine days away from the crucial midterm election.

There are two ways of looking at the midterm elections, now just a week away. From one angle, it’s a simple referendum on the issues and politicians of the day. From another, it involves a far deeper conflict of visions (as Thomas Sowell puts it): socialism vs. capitalism, intrusive vs. limited government, and the destruction of time-honored institutions and traditions vs. their preservation and renewal. Rarely in American history have the two parties been so far apart — or the choice between them so stark. In brief, Islamist-sympathizing socialism is on the ballot against free-market capitalism and American exceptionalism. The...

U.S. President Donald Trump declared Representative Ilhan Omar’s seat “conceded” by Democrats over federal court filings referring to her as Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a name Omar has denied is hers. Prosecutors referred to the Democrat running for reelection in Minnesota as “Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, a/k/a Ilhan Abdullahi Omar” in a federal court filing submitted Wednesday that was obtained by Newsweek. Omar pushed back the next day, saying in a post on X: “Whenever the news turns bad, this creep reaches for one name: mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.” On...

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were conducting enforcement activities at the Santa Cruz Main Jail on Saturday morning. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. So, there are things seen(which are physical) and things not seen(which are spiritual). The not seen is eternal(everlasting) that...

A UC Berkeley professor has stopped grading students’ homework for correctness after noticing artificial intelligence tools were helping them rack up top marks. Richard Borcherds, a renowned mathematician who received the prestigious Fields Medal in 1998, said widespread student use of AI has undermined the value of traditional homework grading. “Student use of AI for homework is now widespread,” Borcherds told The California Post. “Grading for correctness just adds a huge incentive for them to use AI for homework instead of doing it themselves, and penalizes students for honesty.” Paying graders to evaluate AI generated answers is also a waste...

Giving murderers a pass isn’t compassion, it’s cruelty. The debate over the virtue of the death penalty has intensified after the failed execution of Christa Pike, a monster who tortured a woman to death and kept a piece of her skull as a souvenir, and the proposed execution of Nidal Hasan, a Muslim terrorist behind the Fort Hood Massacre whose victims included a pregnant servicewoman and her baby. Protests over these proposed executions have either ignored Pike and Hasan’s victims or offered immoral cliches posturing as moral such as, “taking a life doesn’t bring back the dead.” “The death penalty...

When Chase Minnema, 26, first began questioning his gender identity as a teenager, he wasn't sure what the future would look like. While he always dreamed of becoming a parent, he never expected he would one day carry and give birth to his own child. "Being parents is the best experience of our lives," they told Newsweek. Minnema, started to question his identity when he was 14, initially he wondered if he...

Leo XIV openly rejects the reign of Christ the King over states and nations Errors are found throughout Leo XIV's encyclical Magnifica Humanitas in which he says society has 'autonomy' from religion and that the state has 'full autonomy' from the Catholic Church.“Now, this authority, perfect in itself, and plainly meant to be unfettered, so long assailed by a philosophy that truckles to the State, the Church, has never ceased to claim for herself and openly to exercise. The Apostles themselves were the first to uphold it, when, being forbidden by the rulers of the synagogue to preach the Gospel,...

A major labor union has launched an ad blitz ripping Dem Gov. Kathy Hochul as so “radioactive” and “toxic” that midterm candidates from her own party want nothing to do with her. The Transport Workers Union of America, whose local members include roughly 40,000 city subway and bus workers toiling under an MTA contract that lapsed in May, began airing the scathing spots Friday, a day before early voting opened. “Governor Kathy Hochul is so radioactive, even Democratic candidates are running away from her,” the ad kicks off, referring to the state’s top Democrat who effectively controls the MTA through...

Cuba’s government has spent decades recruiting Americans to betray their country. It objects to Secretary of State Marco Rubio inviting Cubans to cooperate with the CIA. Havana apparently believes espionage should remain a privilege of the dictatorship. The Trump administration is right to disagree. Rubio is challenging a comfortable assumption in Washington: that Cuba is too broke to matter. A regime unable to keep the lights on can still penetrate a government, compromise an intelligence officer, and help America’s adversaries. Poverty has never disqualified a country from espionage. It can make espionage one of its more valuable exports. I am...
