Dolly Parton’s death this week has nothing to do with the name of the new tropical storm that formed in the Atlantic on Thursday, according to the National Hurricane Center. “The timing of the use of the name Dolly for this storm is purely coincidental,” said NHC senior hurricane specialist Eric Blake. The NHC felt the need to clarify that the name Dolly has been on the official Atlantic hurricane season name list for some time, as the alphabetical choices originate from the World Meteorological Organization. The WMO maintains a list of six years’ worth of names for 21 of...

With the midterms coming, an astonishing number of Republican voters cannot name three things President Trump has accomplished. Which is remarkable when you consider that Donald Trump has accomplished more in a year and a half than any other president ever did in four. Indeed, he has accomplished so much, so fast, across so many fronts that most people cannot keep up. The Enemedia buries the victories, while Republicans do an abysmal job of explaining them.

Many of you who read Just the Facts know my 2003 book, Why America Slept: The Failure to Prevent 9/11. It reached #2 on the New York Times hardcover nonfiction list that fall. Its final chapter, “The Interrogation,” broke the story of what Al Qaeda operative Abu Zubaydah told CIA interrogators shortly after his capture. There’s front-page news today that brought me back to it —and what the coverage is missing. A military judge, Air Force Lt. Col. Michael Schrama, has set a June 5, 2028 trial date for 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and three of his Guantánamo Bay...

Explanation: What a sight to behold, when a night sky became filled with colors that appeared to rain over the Skógafoss waterfall in Iceland. This image was taken in a single 5 second exposure by the photographer in April 2025. Seeing an aurora is on many people's bucket lists. But it is not easy. It requires high solar activity, dark and clear skies, and usually a viewing location at high latitude. That makes the northern lights more easily seen than the corresponding southern lights, simply because there is less landmass in the Southern Hemisphere, especially around the Antarctic Circle. Auroras...

Trump has blasted the Democratic contender with numerous insults and repeatedly accused Talarico of being a vegan (which he denies) in a state known for its beef and barbeque. Both parties are heavily invested in the Texas Senate race, seeing...

Delaware Sen. Chris Coons is facing backlash after declaring that the United States is "no longer" the leader of the free world and pointing instead to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the national leader putting his country "on the line for freedom." "I would say we are no longer the leaders of the free world. In fact, if anything, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the primary national leader who is putting his country's men and women on the line for freedom," Coons said during a town hall earlier this month. "We need to earn our place back as leader in the free...
