It’s been a brutal year for the cryptocurrency market. In the latest blow to the crypto space, Core Scientific, one of the largest publicly traded crypto mining companies in the U.S, which primarily mints bitcoin, filed for bankruptcy on Dec. 21, citing falling crypto prices and rising energy costs. And the implosion of FTX, a now-bankrupt crypto trading platform that was once valued at $32 billion, has shattered investors’ confidence as the ripple effects of the company’s collapse continue to spread throughout the crypto industry. “Many Americans are coming to realize that cryptocurrency is just a speculative mania and the...

US consumers have the Fed Pneumonia and The Avian Flu. As a diabetic, eggs are a perfect food. Unfortunately for me and other diabetics, the price of eggs has soared by a whopping 79% since February 28, 2022. Of course, this year’s deadly Avian flu has been reducing poultry flocks. Also, fertilizer prices have soared as well. Also, soaring inflation has resulted in an aggressive Federal Reserve hiking their target rates.

Epps denied in his interview with the House panel that he was working for the FBI at the time of the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, according to a transcript released on Thursday. Democrats claimed the Inflation Reduction Act would help ordinary Americans, but new analysis suggests people making less than $400,000 a year could end up paying $20 billion of the new tax revenue it brings in. President Joe Biden signed the act into law in August, injecting $473 billion of new spending on climate and healthcare, yet there are strong concerns it will do little to reduce inflation. In fact, middle class Americans will pay new taxes - directly contradicting Biden's promise to not raise penalties on people earning under $400,000.

Amidst seemingly constant news that more and more species are going extinct, it’s always exciting when experts discover new species, or rediscover an animal or plant from a species that hasn’t been spotted in decades (or even centuries). It can also be a thrill when someone spots an animal or plant from an incredibly rare species that humans have only seen a few times in the past. There are sure to be a number of new species in 2022, so every time one is spotted this year, we’ll keep updating this article. The small longhead darter fish In early January...

MADISON, Wis. — If you haven’t noticed already, one of the big items on your grocery list has become more expensive this year. In the year through November, not adjusted for seasonal swings, egg prices jumped 49%, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Brandon Scholz is the president of the Wisconsin Grocers Association. He highlighted multiple reasons why the price of a carton of eggs has skyrocketed. “We’ve hit that point where demand was just so high, there just weren’t enough eggs out there,” said Scholz. This year’s deadly Avian flu has been reducing poultry flocks, on...

To hear more audio stories from publications like The New York Times, download Audm for iPhone or Android. It took 60 years but a postulator from the Vatican finally came to Richard, a lonesome patch of boggy farmland in southern Louisiana’s rice belt, last December. He arrived at St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, which stands at the closest thing the community has to a town center, cater-corner to Richard Elementary and opposite a pasture more than large enough for its dozen cows. He was greeted by the young parish priest, diocesan officials from Lafayette, a medical examiner, gravediggers, a pair...

The World Economic Forum has joined the cancel campaign against Twitter to protest the new free-speech policy on the platform, and is urging users to download Chinese state-controlled social media apps instead. Twitter is noticeably absent from the entities listed on the WEF’s “How to follow Davos 2023” social media pamphlet, and that appears to be no accident. The Dossier reports: To stay up to speed with all that is happening within the invite-only doors of the ruling class confab, the WEF recommends following along through a handful of social media sites. They include the U.S.-based narrative-compliant Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram,...

Offices with titles such as “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” have become common in business, government, and universities. Employees are sometimes required to take courses in diversity training, and, in some well-known cases, employees have been dismissed for refusing to participate. In spite of its widespread use in college admissions, and in hiring and promotion decisions in business and government, the exact meaning of “diversity” remains unclear. Yet diversity issues are important, as evidenced in part by the Supreme Court’s recent discussion of the legality of using affirmative action to pursue diversity goals. Proportional RepresentationProponents of making greater diversity compulsory have...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemMatthew 22Marriage at the Resurrection 23 That same day the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question. 24 “Teacher,” they said, “Moses told us that if a man dies without having children, his brother must marry the widow and raise up offspring for him. 25 Now there were seven brothers among us.
