U.S., Iran expected to "electronically" sign agreement to end war Sunday
Axios ^ | June 13, 2026 | Barak Ravid

Posted on 06/14/2026 3:25:39 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

The U.S. and Iran, together with Pakistani and Qatari mediators, are expected to hold a virtual meeting on Sunday and electronically sign a memorandum of understanding that will extend the ceasefire by 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and launch negotiations over Iran's nuclear program.

(snip)

What they're saying: "We are closer to a peace deal than ever before. With finalization likely expected in the next 24 hours, Pakistan is preparing for the electronic signing of the peace deal immediately after, followed by technical level talks next week," Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif wrote on X on Saturday.

Shortly after, the Pakistani foreign ministry confirmed that the virtual signing ceremony has been scheduled for Sunday.

(snip)

Behind the scenes: U.S. officials and sources in the mediating countries confirmed that the signing will take place virtually, and claimed it is mainly for logistical reasons.

One of the main reasons is that Vice President J.D. Vance, who is leading the U.S. negotiations team, wouldn't have been able to go back to the U.S. before President Trump leaves for the G7 summit in France on Monday morning, the sources said.

Electronic signing? What is this? An Adobe PDF? An autopen?

So do we get to see the actual agreement and who is signing it?

And does anybody actually believe this "logistical" nonsense as an excuse? The USAF just hauled 4 cargo planes worth of Secret Service vehicles and security equipment over to Europe for this supposed "signing ceremony" today, but yet Vance just doesn't have time now?

None of this makes any senses and it stinks to high Heaven.

It doesn’t matter if they sign with Crayola Crayons, it is already null and void in the eyes of the Iranians.

They will continue to stall, fabricate and deceive until they can rearm.

This is a mistake of catastrophic proportions!

The Iranians are not people to make agreements with.

Hit them hard.

"An Adobe PDF?"

Just like Hussein's birth certificate, it worked.  Don't know if this is sad, pathetic, or humorous. Then again the goat-humpers signing this know there's a target on their back.

Of course Trump is trying to force this on June 14th. Symbolism over substance.

With several groups running Iran independently of each other, the most effective being IRGC, no agreement will hold because one or more groups will keep shooting and protecting the uranium. The IRGC would seem to be the only group with whom an effective deal can be made and even that is iffy because IRGC has, itself, broken up into separate groups,

It makes all the sense in the world, because we’re getting increasingly desperate to reopen the Strait due to oil inventories getting closer to a critical tipping point: https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/12/business/cushing-oil-inventory

Our options are down to either militarily imposing our will on the Iranians (which will either require boots on the ground or literally using the nuclear option, both of which are politically unpalatable), or trying to find a deal that the Iranians will accept.

“A memorandum of understanding (MOU) is a formal agreement between two or more parties that outlines shared goals, roles, and responsibilities, usually “WITHOUT CREATING A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT.”

A MOU is not an end to the war. What did we gain for all of this? What have we lost?

Just great. They’ll claim they never signed it, but were hacked and contract is null and void. Rinse and repeat.

Wait. Open strait now and BEGIN negotiating a nuclear deal???????. Thought that is what has already been going on. Negotiate now when we have ZERO cards and no credibility with anyone? Iran won the day we ran out of bullets and called a ceasefire . Who calls a unilateral ceasefire when one side is completely destroying the other? You decide to stop but that is not a ceasefire when one side can’t fire back, maybe mercy, but ceasefire makes you look stupid.
This is going to ruin the Trumps entire legacy of both terms.

It'll be a "Weekend at Bernie's" scenario because we won't actually see who's signing or forging anything, much less the text of the MOU.
