Two U.S. senators met with families in Ukraine's capital Thursday and promised continued humanitarian support for the war-torn country as winter nears. Democrat Chris Coons of Delaware and Republican Rob Portman of Ohio emphasized their commitment to the people of Ukraine while visiting a distribution center in Kyiv and speaking to families bracing for a dark, cold season with inadequate heating and electricity. Ukrainian authorities say Russian strikes on energy infrastructure have knocked out 40% of the country's energy system, cutting off power for tens of thousands of people. Although crews make repairs as quickly as possible, it's not certain...

I mean, who knows what’s resonating now, I’m so confused by everything I’m seeing,” Whoopi Goldberg said as she threw up her hands. “You would think, there used to be a way to stamp out the lie, but I guess lie’s the new it,” she added. While Biden alone is...

Angry motorists pushed over eco protestors and dragged them off the road in an attempt to unblock traffic after they sat down in the middle of the motorway in Rome. Eco protestors have been blocking highways across Europe, prompting scuffles as the protestors clash with drivers trying to get to work and keep appointments. One motorist with grey hair and glasses can be heard saying in Italian that his mother suffers from ankylosing spondylitis, a rare type of arthritis, and is in the car with him. He can be seen grabbing a female protestor and dragging her across the road,...

Could consuming a cup of coffee be an effective way to protect yourself against infection with coronavirus? What has not yet been proven in practice is at least very plausible according to biochemical research. The team led by chemist Professor Nikolai Kuhnert, including Dorothea Schmidt and Nicholas Ohl of Jacobs University, was able to show experimentally—in the laboratory—that the chemical compound 5-caffeoylquinic acid (trivial name: chlorogenic acid), which is found in coffee, inhibits the interaction by a factor of 50 between the SARS CoV-2 spike protein of the coronavirus and the ACE-2 receptor, the docking site for the virus on...

A joint study by TAU and the Hebrew University, involving 20 researchers from different countries and disciplines, has accurately dated 21 destruction layers at 17 archaeological sites in Israel by reconstructing the direction and/or intensity of the earthâs magnetic field recorded in burnt remnants. The new data verify the Biblical accounts of the Egyptian, Aramean, Assyrian, and Babylonian military campaigns against the Kingdoms of Israel and Judah. Findings indicate, for example, that the army of Hazael, King of Aram-Damascus, was responsible for the destruction of several citiesâTel Rehov, Tel Zayit, and Horvat Tevet, in addition to Gath of the Philistines,...

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Thursday predicted that Democrats will maintain control of the upper chamber of Congress in next week’s midterm elections. “It’s tight,” Schumer told the Associated Press, but added, “I believe Democrats will hold the Senate and maybe even pick up seats.” After a strong showing over the summer, Democratic Senate candidates appear to have lost momentum in the final weeks of the elections, threatening the party’s slim majority.

Stop the press! Cambridge hired someone who said something that was debunked — debunked by experts, no less. How could this have happened? Well, here’s the story from the perspective of the one who was supposedly “debunked”. I am a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Cambridge. (I feel like Jason Stanley when I say that.) My research areas are the philosophy of biology and ethics. Three years ago, when I was a PhD student at Oxford, I published a paper in a highly respected philosophy and psychology journal calling for free inquiry...

Former President Barack Obama warned Democrats not to demonize their political opponents Wednesday even as President Joe Biden delivered a speech attacking “MAGA Republicans” and tying them to last week’s assault on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband. Obama told a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, that demonizing opponents with “over-the-top” rhetoric could result in physical violence: “One thing is clear, and that is this increasing habit of demonizing political opponents, of just yelling and thinking not just that I disagree with someone, but that they’re evil and wrong,” Obama said. “That creates a dangerous climate. And when we have politicians and elected...

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A woman was caught on video taking a home’s entire candy supply for herself Halloween night while in costume. Popular YouTube streamer Andy Signore, host of Popcorned Planet, told WFLA he was out trick-or-treating with his family when he saw what happened on the doorbell’s app. “I caught it happening LIVE, and I was shocked,” Signore said. “I expected some teens to be greedy, but I couldn’t believe an adult woman would take it all.” The video showed the woman, dressed in what appeared to be a barmaid costume, empty both candy buckets into her own...

Here is a disturbing story. It demonstrates intrigue, corruption and disdain for American principles at the highest level. Perhaps the saddest thing about this story is that you probably won’t be surprised. Especially if you’ve been paying attention for the past few years. The story is this: Twitter and other social media platforms have been cozy with the Department of Homeland Security ... But you knew that. And maybe Elon Musk did in his purchase of Twitter last week. ... Job one for Musk was to not only fire CEO Parag Agrawal but also Vijaya Gadde, Twitter’s top lawyer and...

A Russian-installed occupation official in southern Ukraine said on Thursday Moscow was likely to pull its troops from the west bank of the Dnipro River, signalling a huge retreat that, if confirmed, would be a major turning point in the war. Still, Ukrainian officials and Western analysts remained cautious about signs that Russia was abandoning the area, and there was silence from higher-ups in Moscow over what would amount to one of Russia's most humiliating retreats so far. Kyiv said it was still fighting in the area and was wary that Moscow could be setting a trap by feigning a...

North Korea appears to have launched a ballistic missile. Japan is under emergency alert, and the world is far more dangerous under Joe Biden than the “orange man.” The missiles are a message to Joe Biden as South Korea’s Defense Minister meets with the US Defense Secretary at the Pentagon. If it is an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, as South Korea believes, it is designed to carry a nuclear warhead. The launches are the latest in a series of North Korean weapons tests in recent months. Yesterday, on Wednesday, Pyongyang fired more than 20 missiles. It was a record for the...

Following the mysterious, rumor-plagued attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) are re-evaluating their security protocols. According to multiple sources, the Capitol Police had access to cameras at the Pelosi residence, but they were not being monitored until local police were already at the scene. On Wednesday, the Capitol Police released a statement admitting that those at the Command Center were not monitoring the security camera feed for the Pelosi residence at the time of the attack. The USCP reported that they have access to about 1,800 cameras, including those “used...

Republican gubernatorial nominee Christine Drazan is leading her Democratic opponent Tina Kotek by two percentage points in the race to become Oregon’s next governor, according to the latest Nelson Research poll. About 43 percent of Oregon likely voters back Drazan while roughly 41 percent support Kotek, the poll shows. Another 5 percent support Independent candidate Betsy Johnson, a former Democrat and state lawmaker who was previously complicating the race for the two leading candidates. Drazan holds a similar lead to a Emerson College/The Hill survey released last month, which had the GOP nominee at 36 percent support to Kotek’s 34...
