Republican gubernatorial nominee Christine Drazan is leading her Democratic opponent Tina Kotek by two percentage points in the race to become Oregon’s next governor, according to the latest Nelson Research poll.
About 43 percent of Oregon likely voters back Drazan while roughly 41 percent support Kotek, the poll shows.
Another 5 percent support Independent candidate Betsy Johnson, a former Democrat and state lawmaker who was previously complicating the race for the two leading candidates.
Drazan holds a similar lead to a Emerson College/The Hill survey released last month, which had the GOP nominee at 36 percent support to Kotek’s 34 percent.
In that poll, 19 percent of likely voters had supported Johnson.
Drazan is a former minority leader of the state’s House of Representatives while Kotek is a former state House speaker.
If Drazan wins, she would be the first Republican to govern Oregon since the ’80s.

Unfortunately it looks like the Democrats are “coming home” away from the independent former Democrat. The trend is against the Republican.
This is a case where the democrats/liberals have split their votes...
Jonson is playing spoiler.. While it would be nice if the R won, I wouldn’t write too much into this election being a turning point for Oregon, even if the R does.
Kotek is highly unpopular, and has another D playing spoiler.
Will be an interesting race to watch, but honestly I wouldn’t write too much into Oregon governors race as a turning point even if the R does pull out the win.
And when the Republican loses six days later its election denial to cry foul. Uncle Ice Cream told me so, right after he got out of the shower with his teen daughter.
Yeah the fact that it will be close is about the best we can hope for Oregon. Solid rat state with mail voting.
Unfortunately Betsy isn’t a “player” as she once was a few months ago. Word on the street is that she was bought off by the machine and cut most of her ads. She has gone from 20% down to 5 or 6 in just a few weeks. Despite this turn of events most of the pundits here look for an upset Tuesday.

And doesn’t Oregon allow counting of ballot they receive days or weeks after Election Day? Yeah, I’m sure they’ll be checking for those postmarks.
