---SNIP--- In a post to Instagram on Thursday, the devout Christian wrote a message of "submission and obedience to God," and included an image showing her draped in an American flag after her victory. "Let me start off by saying, what an honor it is to be able to represent not only my country but also the kingdom of God," McLaughlin wrote. "What I have in Christ is far greater than what I have or don't have in life. I pray my journey may be a clear depiction of submission and obedience to God."

A writer for The Guardian, M. A. Sieghart, has asked the perennial question, “Why do so few men read books by women?” Curiously, the people who always ask this question never follow up by asking how women authors might better appeal to men or how the publishing industry might get a better share of the underserved male-readership market. No, the assumption is always that men have something wrong with them and need to change. It’s not the books that are the problem, it’s you. The customer is in the wrong. Sieghart notes that the top-selling lady novelists have a disproportionately...

TRANSITIONS It's a "red letter" day at our household today...(and maybe a time for some "red eyes" as well). It is a time of real adjustment...so much so that my daughter asked to stay home from school. And my wife has been dreading the inevitable battle with emotions...one which she will probably lose. There were phone calls from family and friends, and parties over the weekend. Old scrapbooks were dusted off and passed around. Memories of other times and events were recalled and relived. There was some good-natured "ribbing" and some nervous laughter, all leaning inexorably toward the change...

An eastern city has become the first in China to offer significant financial rewards to people who report public gatherings. Authorities across the nation are scrambling to contain new outbreaks of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) virus, also known as COVID-19, especially with more breakthrough cases emerging. Officials in Tai’an city, in China’s coastal Shandong Province, paid a resident $15,000 on Aug. 3. The individual reported a company group training in a hotel on July 30, according to local state media. Authorities said organizers didn’t report the 12-day training to the local government, and its attendees came from several cities...

Anthony Fauci said Friday that businesses and schools across the country will issue a “flood” of vaccine mandates as soon as the Food and Drug Administration issues full approval for the COVID-19 vaccine. “Organizations, enterprises, universities, colleges that have been reluctant to mandate at the local level will feel much more confident,” Fauci told USA Today. “They can say, ‘If you want to come to this college or this university, you’ve got to get vaccinated,” he added. “If you want to work in this plant, you have to get vaccinated. If you want to work in this enterprise, you’ve got...

Dr Ryan Cole, pathologist, gives slide presentation from autopsy of what the Covid vax does to the organs. Short vid, easy to understand and clear slides showing cell damage from inflammation from spike proteins into the varous organs and blood stream. A PATHOLOGIST SUMMARY OF WHAT THE VAX DOES TO THE BRAIN AND OTHER ORGANS

This is not just scientific madness, it appears to be very intentional and purposeful. The Moderna and Pfizer vaccine tests were conducted, as customary, with a control group; a group within the trial who were given a placebo and not the test vaccine. However, during the trial -and after the untested vaccines were given emergency use authorization- the vaccine companies conducting the trial decided to break protocol and notify the control group they were not vaccinated. Almost all the control group were then given the vaccine. Purposefully dissolving the placebo group violates the scientific purpose to test whether the vaccine...

It is bad and getting worse. I have a bigger Stack planned on the Pfizer trial results. But Israel has gone back to being more transparent, and the new data are now too bad not to highlight. A reminder - Israel and the United Kingdom were the two major countries that vaccinated earliest and most aggressively. And they are much better at providing data than the United States - they provide updates every day, which limits their opportunities to manipulate it. Israel is now segmenting the number of serious cases by vaccinated and unvaccinated and by age on its primary...

The Oroville Reservoir reached a record low level of 195.66 m (641.93 feet) above mean sea level on August 5, 2021, forcing authorities in California to shut down their second-largest hydroelectric plant. This is now the lowest level since the nation's tallest dam was completed in 1967 and the first time the hydroelectric plant was shut down due to lack of water. The old record was 196.59 m (645 feet) set in 1977. The California Department of Water Resources (DWR) State Water Project operations managers have taken the Hyatt Powerplant at Lake Oroville offline due to falling lake levels, California...

Three remote Alaska volcanoes are in various states of eruption, one producing lava and the other two blowing steam and ash. This is happening about 1 week after a M8.2 earthquake shook wide parts of Alaska on July 28, 2021. So far, none of the small communities near the volcanoes have been affected, Chris Waythomas, a geologist with the Alaska Volcano Observatory, said Thursday. Webcams on Thursday clearly showed episodic low-level ash emissions from Pavlof Volcano, prompting the observatory to raise the volcano’s threat level from yellow, or exhibiting signs of unrest, to orange, indicating an eruption is underway with...

Camping at Devil’s Backbone campsite in western Virginia and randomly bumped into James O’Keefe at a fried chicken shack several miles away. Recognized him immediately but he was also with some Liberty U students which kind of confirmed it in my mind before I said hello. Shared a picnic table with him and chatted for a while. He said he’s involved in an Oklahoma play down road. He said it was for people who’ve been canceled by the communist theater culture, many of whom were outed for so much as liking a pro-Trump Facebook article or things like that and...

The Minneapolis Greek Festival says its 2021 Taste of Greece event won't go on next month as officials cite unrest in Uptown. The Grand Canyon is one of the most popular destinations for hikers in the Lower 48. However, meteorologists are warning tourists to avoid the canyon Thursday and Friday. Temperatures near the base of the canyon could approach 115 degrees both days, spurring the issuance of a localized excessive heat warning for only the canyon itself. The National Weather Service in Flagstaff, Ariz., states that level of warning “is reserved for only the hottest days of the year and is issued when temperatures are expected to rise to dangerous levels.” Officials are discouraging any physical activity within the canyon between 10...

Ksenia Ovchinnikova claims she was lured into indulging in a juicy McDonald’s burger — and now she’s not lovin’ it. The Russian woman is allegedly suing the fast-food chain after claiming that seeing a mouthwatering cheeseburger commercial made her break her fast during Lent. Ovchinnikova claims she had adhered to the belt-tightening custom for a month when she saw an enticing Golden Arches banner advertising a cheeseburger and chicken nuggets. Despite successfully fasting for the last 16 years, the hangry woman couldn’t resist and “visited McDonald’s and bought a cheeseburger,” the repentant religious follower admitted in her statement.

Why should people in the eastern United States be concerned about earthquakes? 1) Severe earthquakes have occurred in the eastern U.S. In November of 1755, an earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 6.0 and a maximum intensity of 7.0 occurred about 50 miles northeast of Boston, Massachusetts. Boston was heavily damaged. Other strong earthquakes recorded in the continental US were centered in southeastern Missouri near the border with Arkansas, Kentucky and Tennessee. In the winter of 1811-1812, a series of three powerful earthquakes of magnitudes about 7.0 to 7.8 and hundreds of aftershocks occurred near New Madrid, Missouri.

Chief of naval personnel Vice Adm. John Nowell Jr. wants to resume the practice of including photos of officers up for promotion in the information packets reviewed by selection boards. “The premise that excluding photos would combat racism in the decisions on who would be promoted isn’t working,” the Admiral said. Photos were excluded under the orders of former Defense Secretary Mark Esper in July of 2020 to “prevent discrimination, prejudice and bias and promote equal opportunity, morale and the readiness of the force.” “I understand the intent was to reduce the chances for race to influence the decisions on...
