Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell told lawmakers Tuesday that the economy is recovering more quickly than expected but he doesn’t expect the $1.9 trillion stimulus package will lead to too much inflation. “We might see some upward pressures on prices. Our best view is that the effect on inflation will be neither particularly large nor persistent,” Powell said.

DETROIT – Members of the Detroit Fire Department have reached out to Local 4 Defenders with their concerns about the allegations of firefighters drinking while on the job. On Sunday night Trenisha Hawkins’ car was struck by a Detroit fire engine. Hawkins’ sister was sick inside the home and when Detroit Fire Department Squad Six arrived at the scene, a 26-year-old firefighter behind the wheel of a $500,000 rescue vehicle struck Hawkins’ car. “It’s horrifying,” said Local 4 legal analyst Neil Rockind. “Those rigs are like tanks.” Rockind said the entire fire crew has to be ready to save lives...

Scientists from the Department of Physiology of the University of Granada (UGR) have shown that caffeine (about 3 mg/kg, the equivalent of a strong coffee) ingested half an hour before aerobic exercise significantly increases the rate of fat-burning. They also found that if the exercise is performed in the afternoon, the effects of the caffeine are more marked than in the morning. In their study, published in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, the researchers aimed to determine whether caffeine—one of the most commonly consumed ergogenic substances in the world to improve sports performance—actually does increase oxidation...

Things are starting to get really crazy out there. In recent interviews, I have used the term "stability" to describe the current state of affairs, and some people may think that is quite strange. But I stand by that assessment. In the short-term, we have experienced a period of relative stability over the last couple of months, but of course that will soon change. I believe that global events will soon greatly accelerate, and much chaos is on the horizon. However, that certainly doesn't mean that nothing of importance is happening at the moment. In fact, the following are 7...

He said he did not like spending time with Alissa, and Alissa was not close with anyone on the wrestling team. Another teammate, Angel Hernandez — who lives in Arvada and graduated from Arvada West in 2019 — said Alissa got into a fight in the parking lot after the match. “(The other wrestler) was just teasing him and goes, ‘Maybe if you were a better wrestler, you would have won.’ (Alissa) just lost it. He started punching him,” Hernandez said. Hernandez said Alissa frequently appeared to be paranoid about perceived slights against him, and Marvel said Alissa was often...

Black Lives Matter protesters in Rochester, New York, mobbed a Wegmans grocery store on Tuesday afternoon, trapping an estimated 100 customers inside. Video shows protesters chanting “Black Lives Matter” and referring to Daniel Prude, a black man who died about week after a viral encounter with the Rochester Police Department. The state’s Democratic Attorney General announced last month that a grand jury will not seek charges against officers involved in the incident. Before heading to the grocery store, protesters yelled, “We have a long walk today, we’re shutting s*** down,” according to 13WHAM-TV reporter Michael Schwartz...

The Guardian: “Several European countries have halted using the Oxford/AstraZeneca Covid vaccine…” The Guardian has a brand new definition of “several.” Their own article lists the following nations: Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Luxembourg, Lithuania, Romania, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, The Netherlands, Ireland, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Cyprus, Sweden. The reason for the “pause?” A “small” number of people have developed blood clots. And now, as I write this, the Wall St. Journal is reporting that European Union medical regulators have decided everything is OK—-“the benefits of the shots outweigh the risks.” Standard boilerplate language for: “we don’t have to explain the...

Joe Scarborough should show his NCAA bracket. If his prognostication skills there were anything like those on the prediction he put out Monday morning on a different subject, the bracket will look like a chicken tramped across it. On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough said that: "People [on the right] this past week [were] actually bizarrely cheering for a Putin/Biden debate. And bizarrely saying that Biden would be wiped out by Putin."Get the rest of the story and view the video here.

Crime is up dramatically in New York City. The New York Police Department is spread thin because of retirements, leaving the officer's union to say that the anti-cop sentiment among officials in city hall had left the "NPYD broken, almost beyond repair." So naturally, what Mayor Bill de Blasio thinks the NYPD should be doing is knocking on people's doors if they're suspected of saying something hateful. According to Fox News, de Blasio made the comments Thursday, one day after a gunman killed eight individuals in a series of killings at Atlanta-area massage spas. Six of the eight victims were...

Our previous article on the COVID theater you’ve been watching, that one with Krispy Kreme offering you a free glazed donut in exchange for you getting a COVID jab, is about to be outdone in new heights of ridiculity (yes, I just made that word up, you’re welcome), with the breathless announcement just moments ago of a Dr. Fauci children’s book. I can’t even. The blurb for this ‘book’, this shameless piece of propaganda, reads like this: “This engaging narrative, which draws from interviews the author did with Dr. Fauci himself, follows Anthony from his Brooklyn beginnings through medical school...

Biden regularly speaks and consults with Obama, White House says President Joe Biden regularly consults with former President Barack Obama, speaking with him on a range of issues, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Monday. Psaki, responding to a question from a reporter, said Biden and the former president “keep in regular touch” — but did not specify exactly how often the pair speak to one another, Fox News reported. “They consult and talk about a range of issues and I would expect that continues through the course of President Biden’s presidency,” Psaki said. “That can be done over...
