One of Donald Trump's impeachment attorneys has slammed House Democrats for presenting a 'spliced and manufactured' video as their first piece of evidence in the Senate trial on a charge of incitement to insurrection. Attorney David Schoen was reacting to the first piece of evidence presented by House impeachment managers on Tuesday, a 14-minute video which inter-cut footage of the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot with Trump's speech earlier that day urging his supporters to 'fight'. 'It's very easy to stand up and show spliced and manufactured films. Literally the Democrats, the House managers, hired a large movie company and...

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin faces an early test as he races to advance a major initiative targeting far-right extremism in the ranks,...the nation's first African American Pentagon chief...Historical data from outside the government has suggested a correlation between military experience and right-wing terrorism. An academic analysis published in 2011 by the Justice Department's Terrorism Research and Analysis Project found that right-wing terrorists have been significantly more likely to have military experience...

One of the lawyers heading former President Donald Trump’s defense at his second impeachment trial did what Trump himself has not: conceded Joe Biden won the presidential election. — In opening remarks Tuesday, lawyer Bruce Castor said: “The American people just spoke, and they just changed administrations.” He added that Americans are “smart enough to pick a new administration if they don’t like the old one, and they just did.” The comments by Castor, a former county prosecutor in Pennsylvania, were a surprising contrast to Trump’s defiance. The former president repeatedly disputed the results of the election, falsely claiming he...

Good for Mark. [cut] “I went to a Rangers game with my brother and we’re standing there [for the anthem] and it felt stupid,” Thomas Wilson said. “It feels like a cult, everyone standing up. The freedom doesn’t stop if we don’t raise the flag. I know that sounds unpatriotic. We know we’re in America. We didn’t forget that. I served for 13 years.”

The United Arab Emirates' "Hope" probe on Monday successfully entered Mars' orbit, making history as the Arab world's first interplanetary mission....The probe is designed to reveal the secrets of Martian weather, but the UAE also wants it to serve as an inspiration for the region's youth. Officials at mission control broke into applause, visibly relieved after a tense half-hour as the probe carried out a "burn" to slow itself enough to be pulled in by Martian gravity, in what was the most perilous stage of the journey. Hope is the first of three spacecraft to arrive at the Red Planet...

Five myths cloud our perception of both the past and the present: (1) The “robber baron” myth which holds that in late nineteenth-century America there were powerful men who became rich at the expense of the poor. The reality is that they became wealthy by being productive, and that there is no other period in history which saw such a rapid and widespread improvement in the well-being of the average individual. (2) The myth that the Great Depression was caused by a failure of business. It was, in fact, produced by a failure of government and specifically by the Federal...

A recent study by the Naval Medical University in Shanghai found that about one-fifth of China’s servicemen in the submarine force stationed in the South China Sea have psychological problems. According to an analysis by Taiwanese military experts, submariners need to have very strong psychological health. However, problems have been reported that may be related to the frequent military exercises conducted by the Chinese regime. In addition, there may be problems with the psychological counseling provided to military personnel. The study, published in the international journal Military Medicine on Jan. 7, found that among the 580 male participants, 21 percent...

The “Top Chef” Quickfire Challenge was about to start filming, and Padma Lakshmi — the Bravo show’s longtime host, judge and executive producer — was being fussed over by people wearing masks and face shields. “This is a lot of copy to get through,” said Lakshmi, who would soon have to describe a complicated “Black Box” challenge — one imported from “Top Chef: France” — to the show’s five remaining contestants on this Sunday afternoon in mid-October. In the Quickfire, the cheftestants (to use the “Top Chef” fans’ term of art) would enter a lightless box one at a time...

The national anthem has become a hot topic in professional sports over the last several years. Ever since Colin Kaepernick began the #TakeaKnee movement back in 2016, the public has debated whether athletes should be forced to stand during the pre-game tradition or allowed to exercise their right to protest. Dallas Mave

Haven’t heard about any national anthem protests at Mavericks games? There’s a good reason for that: Dallas isn’t and won’t be playing “The Star-Spangled Banner” anymore. Mark Cuban told The Athletic it was his decision to eliminate the tradition of playing the anthem before games. The move went by unnoticed through the first 13 combined preseason and regular-season games at American Airlines Center because the Mavericks did not publicize it, either within the organization or through an announcement to media. Monday marked the first game in which the Mavericks allowed a limited number of fans into their arena.

If you think Fox News Channel has gone to the dark side, wait until you see what happens next. Fox Media owner Lachlan Murdoch told Deadline that he’s just fine with the direction of the once conservative news channel. “We believe where we are targeted, to the center-right, is exactly where we should be targeted. We don’t need to go further right. We don’t believe America is further right,” he said. “And we are obviously not going to pivot left.” In recent days the network has been rocked by high-level departures of well-known conservatives like Lou Dobbs, Trish Regan and...

By February 1, Joe Biden had signed an unprecedented 42 executive orders in just the first few days of his administration. These included executive orders which looked to expand socialized medicine, provide taxpayer funding for foreign abortions, destroy American energy jobs, rejoin meaningless and counterproductive international agreements and organizations, further the promotion of ahistorical mischaracterizations of the United States, and to call for transgender rights in school sports — to name a few. Despite Biden’s use of the executive branch to bypass the legislature since entering office— after reaching the White House while calling for national unity — the new...

“The House managers were focused, they were organized, they made a compelling argument. President Trump’s team was disorganized. If I’m an impartial juror, and one side is doing a great job, and the other side is doing a terrible job, on the issue at hand, as an impartial juror, I’m going to vote for the side that did the good job.” “If anyone disagrees with my vote and would like an explanation I ask them to listen to the arguments presented by the House Managers and Trump’s lawyers. The House managers had much stronger constitutional arguments. The president’s team...

After months of hearing that life could never return to normal until we get a vaccine, we got a vaccine (two, actually), but life did not return to normal. In fact, life got worse. We were instructed to take the new vaccine as soon as possible and then to put on more masks. Anyone who complained about that was punished. Most people obeyed the orders (not like they had a choice), but the whole thing made them nervous. Why exactly did the rules change all of a sudden? Was there a good reason for that? When are we finally going...

It's been a tough few months for conservatives, but I figure it's time we try to get clarity on where we are, why we're here, and where we might go in the future. Yes, it will sting, but what's the alternative? Somehow or other, we must find a way at least to cope with, and at most to replace at some point, what is shaping up to become the most destructive presidential regime in American history. That it seems to essentially be a foreign sort of thing is even more devastating. As nightmarish as it is to contemplate it, the...

The U.S. Senate voted on Feb. 9 to authorize the impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, overruling an argument by the defense alleging the Senate doesnât have jurisdiction to try Trump because heâs now a private citizen. Over the course of four hours, House impeachment managers and Trumpâs attorneys presented their arguments for and against the constitutionality of the trial. In the end, 44 Republican senators voted in favor of dropping the trial because itâs illegitimate, seven votes short of the majority needed to stop the proceedings at the gate.

This is interesting. Suddenly in February a Twitter account appears soon after a video questioning the death of Ashli Babbitt is made public. As I type this there are 11 tweets all posted in the last 11 hours. The tweets involve asking for help identifying 4 key witnesses (or 4 random individuals in the crowd if you like). If you have any information to help 'Justice for Ashli' identify these 4 witnesses please contact the people at the Twitter account posted here: Justice For Ashli Babbitt Twitter
