"There’s not going to be a lot, don’t expect 10 or 12 indictments, but there could be a handful of indictments and much more information." John Solomon of Just The News joined Lou Dobbs on his Fox Business program just before the weekend with a declaration that Russia Spygate indictments could be coming “this week.” Solomon said on Dobbs’ program, “there is some fairly significant evidence that this week…there is some criminal investigative activity that I think will result in some actions coming out soon.” He added, “there’s not going to be a lot, don’t expect 10 or 12 indictments,...

Author's Note: This is a copy of my submitted Letter to the Editor of Harvard Magazine regarding its recent article,“The Risks of Homeschooling.” Dear Editor: As a Harvard alum, longtime donor, education researcher, and homeschooling mother of four children in Cambridge, Massachusetts, I was shocked to read the article, “The Risks of Homeschooling,” by Erin O’Donnell in Harvard Magazine’s new May-June 2020 issue. Aside from its biting, one-sided portrayal of homeschooling families that mischaracterizes the vast majority of today’s homeschoolers, it is filled with misinformation and incorrect data. Here are five key points that challenge the article’s primary claim that...

As journalists across the US scramble to cover the impact of the coronavirus, they are grappling with a bitter irony: as demand for their stories soars, the decline of the business model that funds them is speeding up catastrophically. The devastating sweep of Covid-19 is the biggest story in a generation, and for most newspapers and news sites it has triggered record numbers of readers. Yet the virus, industry experts warn, will spell the end for “hundreds” of those organizations, laying off journalists and closing titles. New estimates forecast that U.S. TV advertising spending will decline sharply -- between 22.3% and 29.3% -- for the first half of 2020, according to eMarketer, mostly due to the lack of sports TV programming. For the first six months of the year, the research company estimates a roughly 25% drop in average total TV advertising -- broadcast, cable, syndication, and local -- to between $23.95 billion and $26.30 billion, from January through June. These declines are due to the disruption caused by COVID-19. Previous estimates from eMarketer, released on March 6, forecast a 2% increase for the full 2020...

Attorney General William Barr said Tuesday that some state governors’ efforts to fight the coronavirus “infringes on a fundamental right” of American residents. Barr said in an interview on “The Hugh Hewitt Show” that governments in the U.S. need to “do a better job” of ensuring coronavirus restrictions are “properly targeted” and do not unnecessarily infringe on constitutional rights. He added that currently, the country is facing “unprecedented burdens on civil liberties.” “When a governor acts, especially when a governor does something that intrudes upon or infringes on a fundamental right or a Constitutional right, they’re bounded by that,” the...

New York started collecting blood samples Monday from 3,000 randomly selected people for antibody testing as part of its response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The results may provide a more accurate assessment of how many have been infected with the new coronavirus, but could also serve as a platform for research into potential treatments. There is, however, some concern about the accuracy of the tests, and questions as to whether enough hospitals and clinics will have access to the materials -- and use them properly. Richard Serino, distinguished visiting fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health's National Preparedness...

Posted on April 20, 2020 by Msgr. Charles Pope An Easter Exhortation for Tough Times As we all know, this was perhaps the strangest Easter that any of us have experienced at least collectively. The liturgical calendar shouts new life and victory over the grave, and yet throughout the world, many are hunkered down in the fear of death. Despite the Easter glow these are dark days for many who suffer illness or economic stress. But, to be sure, the first Easter was experienced in great uncertainty and danger. Recent readings from Scripture have this theme. The readings in...

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday announced that is authorizing the first coronavirus test that allows patients to collect samples at home themselves. The FDA said the emergency authorization would make coronavirus testing easier and smoother by allowing some patients to collect their test samples without having to leave home. The patients, after using the nasal swab, would then mail the sample to LabCorp, the company that makes the test, to be tested. “With this action, there is now a convenient and reliable option for patient sample collection from the comfort and safety of their home,” FDA Commissioner...

A New York Times reporter heavily implied Fox News had a hand in a Brooklyn man's untimely passing from the coronavirus. But the same reporter had her own skepticism about the virus. A New York Times report on the tragic passing of a Brooklyn bar owner recklessly implied Fox News’s coverage of the Wuhan coronavirus contributed to the man’s untimely death. Worse yet, the report was authored by a woman who expressed skepticism over the magnitude of the crisis during the same time period her story faulted Fox.In an April 18 story on the death of beloved Bay Ridge bar...

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God" (Matt. 5:9). God’s peace cushions the soul during difficult times. I remember reading about what is called "the cushion of the sea." The ocean surface is often greatly agitated, but as you descend, the water becomes increasingly calm. At its greatest depths the ocean is virtually still. Oceanographers dredging ocean bottoms have found animal and plant remains that appear to have been undisturbed for hundreds of years. Similarly, Christians can experience a cushion of peace in their souls regardless of their troubled surroundings. That's because they belong to...

Prayers up for all the families suffering from the impact of this virus. And we're still praying that the spread starts fading with the warmer Spring weather and that an effective treatment and vaccine are developed before the next flu season starts. And we pray that our people are allowed to go back to work very soon and that our economy comes roaring back. Meanwhile, we may be hurt and slowed down somewhat, but we have faith in the long-run that "what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger." God willing, America will survive and we will survive and we...

Then there is Joseph Williams, who made headlines this week. The 26-year-old had been held for six days on a heroin possession charge. With bail set at $2,500, a deposit of just $250 would have secured a bond and set him free. Evidently, the amount was too much. When he did walk out as one of the 164 [freed by Chronister and Ficarrotta] he spoke with the media. “I feel wonderful,” he told a reporter from Spectrum Bay News 9. The next night, a crowd of more than a dozen gathered on Ash Avenue in Progress Village. Amid the flagrant...

C'mon; I know that politicians, and Democrats specifically, have less than no respect for the American people, but do they really think we're dumb enough to believe they're actually going to permit Joe Biden to be their candidate against President Trump? Biden can't tell you how many fingers he's holding up while standing in front of a mirror. He is stunningly incoherent, a pitiful example of diminished capacity. Additionally, he's not far from being indicted for allegedly sexually molesting Tara Reade, his former aide.
