Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) is set to join President Trump during a Tuesday visit at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in the Great Lakes State, the White House said. The appearance comes just a couple of weeks after Whitmer took heat from both sides of the aisle for a White House visit earlier this month, her second since the inauguration. After Trump brought the governor into the Oval Office during an executive order signing involving her state, a photo of Whitmer appearing to hide her face behind folders garnered ridicule and underscored the tough political terrain of the...

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Days after she was unexpectedly caught meeting with President Trump in the Oval Office, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer reportedly sneaked back into the White House on Monday in far less conspicuous attire. According to White House insiders, Governor Whitmer returned to the Oval Office for a follow-up meeting with the president, but planned ahead this time, arriving in a full burqa to simultaneously conceal her identity and honor her large number of devout Muslim constituents. "It was definitely her — I would recognize that shrill voice anywhere," said one administration source who asked to remain anonymous. "She...

Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan said she was "grateful" to speak with President Donald Trump on Thursday for a "productive meeting" that included discussions about jobs and tariffs. Since taking office for his second administration, Trump has pursued an arguably chaotic economic policy, which is reflected by the steep drop in the stock market in recent weeks: The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which was $44,873 at the start of February, had fallen to $40,813 by the close of business on Thursday. Thursday's drop marked a 10 percent drop over the previous month, which brought the market into a "correction,"...

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that she believed former President Donald Trump was “weak” and a “charlatan.” Whitmer said, “He’s a charlatan. He’s convinced people he is strong when he’s actually very weak. He told Michiganders no plants would close. Six closed. He just came into Detroit and denigrated the city of Detroit. He shows his ignorance. He doesn’t appreciate what the renaissance actually is in the city of Detroit. He denigrated autoworkers, saying children could do their jobs. He likes to pretend he’s tough, but in the reality, he’s weak.”

On Tuesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) stated that she would handle the coronavirus pandemic differently if she knew then what she knows now, but “We did not know it was respiratory in nature. We didn’t know that it would be people on the other end of the age spectrum who would be most vulnerable. And so, I think that the education stuff, we would’ve been able to do a lot more to help our kids.” But overall, “I’m proud of what we did, and I can tell you, the people of Michigan, I think,...

Gretchen Whitmer--the decidedly "meh" Governor of Michigan, has been one of the favorites for donors and political insiders for the nominee of the Democrat Party should President Biden step down or be forced out of the race. Early on in the post-debate saga, she was clearly angling for the job, but as the Biden Crime Family run by the triumvirate of Joe, Jill, and Hunter made clear that Slow Joe wasn't leaving, she has begun to backtrack. Now she is shutting down the speculation that she is open to the job, although there has been no Shermanesque "If nominated I...

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” accused Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett of lying to Congress after the Dobbs decision. Whitmer said, “I think we all know the truth here. There’s no question that with the three appointments that Donald Trump put onto our United States Supreme Court, three people who lied to Congress, betrayed their oath of office and put forward the Dobbs decision.”

Governor Gretchen Whitmer (D-MI) said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that abortion “is on the ballot in all 50 states’ because of a potential national abortion ban. Host Kristen Welker said, “Former President Trump held a rally last night. He did not mention the issue of abortion, but earlier this week he noted that abortion laws are left up to the states. he said he wouldn’t support a national ban. How concerned are you that his efforts to straddle the line could effectively weaken this issue for Democrats?”

A previously deported illegal alien, identified as Brandon Ortiz-Vite, was arrested and charged with the murder of 25-year-old Ruby Garcia in Kent County, Michigan. The illegal from Mexico was charged with felony murder, open murder, carjacking, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony possession of a firearm for the March 22 incident. Ortiz-Vite stands accused of murdering Ruby Garcia and leaving her body beside the road on U.S. Highway 31.

General Motors will lay off about 1,300 workers from two of its Michigan plants, according to WARN notices the company has filed with state regulators. The job cuts at GM’s Orion Assembly and Lansing Grand River Assembly, which will take place in the new year, come after the automaker said in October that it would be delaying electric pickup truck production into 2025. The layoffs at GM’s Orion plant will affect 945 employees, while 369 employees will be cut from the Lansing assembly plant. The Orion plant produced the Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV crossover, and GM is planning...

In a fiery exchange last month, CNN anchorwoman Abby Phillip told GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy that there was “no evidence” to support his claim that federal agents abetted protesters at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Ramaswamy shot back that the FBI conspicuously has never denied that law enforcement agents were on duty in the crowd. He argued that federal officials have repeatedly “lied” to the American people about not only that investigation but one that has gotten much less attention: the alleged failed plot to kidnap and kill Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan in 2020. “It was...

Washington — Democratic Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer urged President Biden to personally speak out about the abortion issue more in an interview Saturday with "Face the Nation" moderator Margaret Brennan, suggesting more "blunt language" on the subject "would be helpful." Brennan noted that Mr. Biden has previously expressed reservations about abortion because of his Catholic faith, asking, "Does he need to talk about it more?" "I think it would be good if he did," Whitmer responded. The governor added, "I know one tenet of his belief system is that women and only women, with their families and healthcare professionals, are...

LANSING – Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed a slate of new gun control bills into law on November 20 that confiscate firearms and ammunition from people in Michigan who have been convicted of both violent and non-violent misdemeanors under new legal definitions of “domestic violence misdemeanors” established in the new laws. These bills, passed by the democrat-controlled state house and senate, broadly expand the category of misdemeanors considered to be “domestic violence” to include many infractions that are clearly not violent, allow law enforcement to confiscate all firearms from anyone convicted of these misdemeanors, and prohibit anyone convicted of these misdemeanors...

Jason Kruse started grassroots campaign to recall township board after resident's concerns were ignoredA Michigan man says democracy is "still there" after his small town ousted its entire local government for approving a Chinese-linked green energy project."Everybody out there across America needs to step back and understand that you have the power. It's still there," Jason Kruse, Green Charter Township’s newly elected supervisor told Fox News. "Government works and your vote matters – for sure at the local level – and it's super important.""We really need to be reminded about that every so often, that public officials work for the...

A nearly century-old law banning abortion in Michigan was repealed by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) on Wednesday. The 1931 law banned abortion, with no exceptions for rape or incest, and called for the prosecution of reproductive care providers. “Today, we’re going to take action to ensure that our statutes, our laws reflect our values and our constitution,” Whitmer said during a signing ceremony. “This is a long overdue step and it proves that when we keep fighting to protect everyone’s ability to make their own decisions about their bodies, we can win.” The law remained unenforced for decades after the...

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) said on Sunday that her focus is on Michigan for the next four years when asked about a possible presidential run in 2024. “I feel really lucky to be the governor of Michigan. I have lived here my whole life. And this is where my focus is for the next four years,” Whitmer responded when asked by CNN’s “State of the Union” host Dana Bash if she would be interested in launching a presidential campaign in 2024 or 2028. “I’m going to make Michigan an even stronger place, where people come to for opportunity,” Whitmer...
