US Supreme Court Rulings Reshape Midterm Election Battlefield

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (Reuters) - The November 3 midterm elections are quickly approaching after an electoral cycle shaped to an unusual degree by decisions of the US Supreme Court, a development that prompted Justice Elena Kagan to voice alarm this week.

Republicans generally have fared better than Democrats in the spate of recent election-related cases, including in rulings on redrawing congressional districts and rolling back campaign finance restrictions. It remains to be seen, however, whether these legal victories will help President Donald Trump's party in its quest to retain control of Congress in the midterms.

Democrats need a net gain of four seats each in the House of Representatives and Senate to overcome narrow Republican majorities ‌in those chambers. Ceding control of either chamber to the Democrats would ‌endanger Trump's legislative agenda and open the door to Democratic-led congressional investigations targeting the president.

I know this is a week old, but I do not believe it's been posted.

The premise in the first three paragraphs, meaning judges and SCOTUS favored Republicans, just isn't true. Buried in the story is this line:

But when the court issued a ruling last month rebuffing a Trump-backed effort to restrict mail voting — a mode of casting a ballot used more often by Democratic voters — only the court's two most conservative justices, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito, publicly dissented.

And that is key to allowing democrats, especially California, to cheat.

We all know both the House and Senate party numbers are close, and the election could go either way, and traditionally the non-president party wins the midterms, but by not stopping counting after the vote--not just days but weeks--spells cheating potential too good to pass up.

I think we will not know the outcome of the House until California is done counting, and if it is within the margin, they will create just enough votes to win it.

Roberts and Barrett did their best to give the rats both Houses.

What I am still amazed by is how can they cheat without any Republicans knowing especially if they are on high alert like they are now since 2020 and before?

“....endanger Trump’s legislative agenda...”

GOP has not really done too much between 2025 and today.

Funny. Kagan certainly does not seemed alarmed that the Dems (& their allies) are tacitly enabling non-citizens to vote.

They say this to cover for vote fraud.

When they tally the mail-in ballots and find more ballots for the Democrat candidates, that doesn't mean that more people voted Democrat.

The gaslighting is pervasive and non-stop.

Yes, not just the Supremes but Thune, also.

He should have made the Securing America’s Federal Elections (SAFE) Act his sword to fall on. It was the one thing he could do to continue his party in charge.

Now he’ll just have to settle for Senate Minority Leader and all the graft ($$$) given for not pressing the vote. I’m sure he will give Schumer a reach around.

Well Kagan is a rat and we get what we expect. Roberts and Barrett are Republican appointed. Barrett misrepresented herself big time. A true Trojan Horse.

With as many poll watchers being deployed this year, vote fraud will be detected and documented, but the corrupt courts will not allow any remedial action to be taken. Something similar to what we saw in 2020.

“GOP has not really done too much between 2025 and today.”
At least, not for the people who pay their paychecks.
They’ve had some really good, long, vacations, where I’m sure they did plenty of sunning & drinking, along with deal making behind the scenes.

With the SCOTUS ruling at his back, President Trump can continue to rip apart the deep state and bureaucracy, and Democrats can’t do a thing about it.

“non citizens” or “doesn’t mean that more people voted Democrat.”

Note above the two totally different takes on vote fraud.
In reality, only a few legal and illegal non-citizens vote.

Most vote fraud is in Vote Harvesters and Vote Count fraud.

Vote Harvesters vote on behalf of illegal and legal non-citizens, minors 16-17, the dead, movers, vacant houses, vacant lots. Mail in is ideally suited for the vote harvester. They know who is registered and dead, or moved away. They know which houses are vacant.

Vote Count Fraud is when a person undervotes and skips an office... or votes for both R and D for the same office.... or Votes 3d party. The Vote Counter looks at the situation and determines that the voter really intended to vote for X.

Vote Harvesters and Vote Count fraud of the above two types are the most common and not non-citizens voting.

2018 was a key year. The rats stole 10-15 House seats using post election vote “counting”. It was the prototype for what was to come. They also learned that it was a near impossibility to get a court to intervene with any election “result”. They knew they had an open field going forward.

Our county requires that mail-in ballots be counted and tallied BEFORE any in-person voting results are reported. The only exception is for a handful of mail-in ballots which arrive from overseas (mainly military) and are postmarked on or before election day.

This makes our local Democrats very frustrated because they don't know how many votes they have to create to swing a close election. The rest of us see it as a very reasonable rule.

Sometimes it's difficult to diagnose. In rural Texas Talarico holds big "rallies" where they teach new voters (whatever that means) how to register to vote. I just received one of their handwritten postcards (from voterizer.org) at my address urging a stranger to register and claiming ICE kills US citizens. I have lived here since 2025.

Somebody once said “never attribute to evil plans what can be explained by incompetence.”

Sometimes those on the left just don’t have their act together. How else can you explain some of their idiocies once they are in power?

Sure - as long as you haven't paid a bit of attention. They passed virtually all of President Trump's domestic agenda items he promised in a single bill. Defunded US Aid, etc. Took extraordinary means to get all of President Trump's nominees through in the face of unprecedent obstruction never before seen, etc.

It just never matters with you people. The script remains the same - no matter what.

Good to see someone offer some balance. We have had some progress. Unfortunately too many of the good things Trump have done have locked inn mainly because of Thune, he does seem to understand the urgency or worse. it may be the moment is lost. We will see in a couple of days.
