They say one person can’t make a difference in politics. One person isn’t enough. Their vote doesn’t matter. Well—after this week’s Primary Run-off Election, you may want to think again. One Texan is poised to change the Texas Legislature in 2021. His name is Bryan Slaton. Bryan was a youth pastor in East Texas who decided he’d had enough of government intrusion in his life and wanted to do something about it. He showed up several years ago to a townhall and started asking questions. When the answers were not satisfactory, Bryan knew he had to do more. So, he...

Possibly another thing the Founding Fathers could have been a little clearer on: Exactly what constitutes a "natural born citizen" to determine eligibility to be POTUS. The last time this was sort of a big deal was when Arnold might have run for prez. (He's probably too content to smoke stogies in his hot tub to bother these days.) But exactly who qualifies as a citizen has huge ramifications for out country. Know as much about the matter as we do after reading Natural Born Citizens: Understanding Who Can Be POTUS in a Nation Beset By Divided Loyalties.

St. Louis, MO has been the scene of violent protests over the past few weeks. In the most notorious case of violence related to the unrest, rioters murdered retired police captain David Dorn and ransacked his pawnshop. Dorn was black. His killers shot him multiple times. As “defund the police” gained traction in St. Louis and other cities, and cities all over the country lost hard-won ground to violent crime, Americans purchased firearms in record numbers. They are preparing to have to defend themselves. It was in this context, and the rising violence and abdication of public safety in St....

Democratic challengers in many of the key Senate races that will determine which party controls the chamber next year have over the past three months outraised the Republican incumbents they’re hoping to unseat in November’s general election. “The green wave of fundraising that helped Democrats take back the House in 2018 is now a tsunami of cash in Senate races for Democrats that could clear the way for them to flip the Senate in November,” said Jessica Taylor, who closely tracks the Senate races for the Cook Report, a leading non-partisan political handicapper. Republicans enjoy a 53-47 majority in the...

Hollywood and the entertainment industry have been pushing left wing politics for years. Now the monster they created is coming for them. Woke culture is taking over and many white actors and directors suddenly find themselves unable to find work in the industry. Many of them are panicking and still not realizing they are partially responsible for this. The Daily Mail reports: Hollywood’s identity crisis: Actors, writers and producers warn of ‘reverse racism’ in the film industry which has created a ‘toxic’ climate for anyone who is a white, middle-age man Shaken by #MeToo, paralysed by Covid-19, the $50 billion...

Americans purchased millions more guns than usual this spring, spurred in large part by racial animosity stoked by widespread protests over the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, as well as anxiety over the effects of the covid-19 pandemic. That gun-buying binge is associated with a significant increase in gun violence across the United States. Those are the conclusions of two studies by the Brookings Institution and the University of California at Davis, respectively. Together, they paint a portrait of a society arming itself against social upheaval during a time of institutional failure. The Brookings study, after examining federal background...

Amid the surge in gun sales that began in March and continues even now, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) estimates 40 percent of sales are going to first-time gun buyers. A report by the Wall Street Journal cites the NSSF estimate, noting that the FBI “processed 7.8 million background checks for gun purchases from March to June.” The report pointed out that handguns make up the predominant portion of firearms being purchased, and that “nearly two handguns, commonly used for self-protection, are being sold for every rifle or shotgun.”

When Bari Weiss wrote in her resignation letter from The New York Times earlier in the week that editors at these liberal publications start at a narrative and work backward, she perfectly summarized everything that is wrong with the media. The Washington Post decided to go out and prove her even more correct this morning by publishing what is one of the worst, most poorly cited articles I’ve ever read. Tweet : The Washington Post "Analysis: Spring gun-buying binge, fueled by social upheaval, leads to spike in violent crime, new research shows Americans purchased millions more guns than usual this...

Will Donald Trump intervene in what appears to be a nascent prosecution of a Missouri couple who attempted to defend their home against a mob? In an exclusive interview with Townhall’s Katie Pavlich, Trump called any potential prosecution an “outrage.” Trump said the video made it look like the couple were at risk of a beating “if they were lucky,” and their house in danger of being torched.Trump stopped short of pledging any particular action, but Missouri’s governor later said both of them would begin considering their options: “When you look at St. Louis, the two people that came...

The governor of Missouri says President Trump has promised to "do everything he could within his powers" to shield a St. Louis couple who wielded guns at protesters in their gated community from prosecution, even as an attorney for the client says charges are imminent. Gov. Mike Parson said he spoke to Trump Tuesday and was reassured that the president-- who previously has retweeted a photo of the couple, Mark and Patricia McCloskey holding up guns in front of their house in the June 28 incident--"understands the situation in Missouri." "He understands the situation in St. Louis and how out...

In 2016, I signed the “Never Trump” pledge and did my part, as a “keyboard warrior,” especially on the Facebook posts of The Christian Post, to persuade fellow Christians not to support Donald Trump. I have a Ph.D. in church history studying the Puritans and am the pastor of a Reformed church and Mr. Trump struck me as a decline from the kinds of leaders Puritans would expect. Many CP readers may remember my incessant campaigning against Trump four years ago. I argued that he had a checkered past, that he was unlikely to support the causes which Christians should...

Almost a month ago, Steven Ray Baca was arrested and charged in the shooting of a demonstrator at a protest calling for the removal of the Juan De Oñate statue from the Albuquerque Museum grounds. Then, a couple of days later, the charges were dropped pending further investigation. That investigation has happened and 31-year-old Baca is once again charged in the shooting of Scott Williams, who was critically injured. Baca’s attorney, meanwhile, maintains the shooting was a “completely lawful exercise of self-defense.” Second Judicial District Attorney Raúl Torrez announced his decision to resurrect the shooting charge at a news conference...

On Wednesday evening, Rep. Xochitl Tores Small’s campaign sent out a fundraising email introducing Emma Caccamo as Torres Small’s new campaign manager. Caccamo previously worked as the campaign manager on Teresa Leger de Fernandez’s race up in the 3rd Congressional District, where Leger de Fernandez won against disgraced ex-CIA operative Valerie Plame, state Rep. Joseph L. Sanchez, District 1 District Attorney Marco Sernce, and a handful of others. Far-left, abortion up-to-birth Rep. Xochitl Torres Small is also another benefactor of EMILY’s List, which has endorsed her for her unashamed abortion up-to-birth policies, previously when she worked for Planned Parenthood, and...

Missouri attorney Mark McCloskey, who along with his wife Patricia brandished legally-owned firearms when confronted by Black Lives Matter protesters at their St. Louis home last month, told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Monday that "the rumor is that we are going to be indicted shortly" over the incident. Last week, authorities executed a search warrant at the McCloskeys' home in connection with the June 28 incident. Mark McCloskey told host Tucker Carlson that the officers were "almost apologetic" when they served the warrant. "They didn't want to have to be there. They were doing their job. Patty wanted to take a...

June of 2020 has continued the run of record setting numbers of background checks and gun sales for this presidential election year. The National Instant background Check System (NICS) recorded the highest ever number of checks in a month in June of 2020. The total number was 3,931,607. The number is misleading because the number of checks done for permits and permit rechecks has outpaced the checks done for gun sales. Most of the checks done, in most months, are done for permits and permit rechecks. June of 2020 has reversed that trend by a little. Only 1.77 million of the...

A year before the British surrender at Yorktown, John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail: “I must study Politicks and War that my sons may have liberty to study Mathematicks and Philosophy.” It’s a simple point: times defined by the former are not times defined by the latter. C. Bradley Thompson understandably desires that Americans “rediscover the philosophy of Americanism,” the philosophy—at least as he understands it—of the American Founding. What Thompson misunderstands, though, is that ours are once again times of war and politics; no mere philosophy can save us now. Americans of the founders’ age could realize the...

A second weapon from Mark and Patricia McCloskey was surrendered to authorities Saturday Twelve Republican members of Congress have written to U.S. Attorney General William Barr, arguing in defense of the Second Amendment rights of a Missouri couple whose rifle and handgun are now in the possession of local authorities. Mark and Patricia McCloskey, who made national headlines in late June when they took up arms to defend their home from protesters who entered their St. Louis neighborhood, had their rifle seized Friday when local police executed a search warrant. Then on Saturday, a lawyer -- who represented the couple...

Authorities in St. Louis executed a search warrant Friday evening at the home of Mark and Patricia McCloskey, the couple who made headlines last month when they took up arms to defend their homes from protesters. During the search, police seized the rifle that Mark McCloskey was shown holding during the June 28 incident, KSDK-TV of St. Louis reported, citing information from a source. The pistol that Patricia McCloskey held during the June confrontation was already in the possession of the couple’s attorney, the station reported.
