Do We Have the Political Will to Live?
The American Mind ^ | 07/13/20 | Clifford Humphrey

Posted on 07/13/2020 11:16:11 AM PDT by PoliticallyShort

A year before the British surrender at Yorktown, John Adams wrote to his wife Abigail: “I must study Politicks and War that my sons may have liberty to study Mathematicks and Philosophy.” It’s a simple point: times defined by the former are not times defined by the latter. C. Bradley Thompson understandably desires that Americans “rediscover the philosophy of Americanism,” the philosophy—at least as he understands it—of the American Founding. What Thompson misunderstands, though, is that ours are once again times of war and politics; no mere philosophy can save us now.

Americans of the founders’ age could realize the founders’ philosophy because their character and customs were ingrained with habits that best comported with self-government. Ours were a robust people, formed by the ruggedness of the frontier and the experience of hard-fought struggles for liberty that stretched back generations to England. First and foremost, though, they were a people filled with a strong political will to govern themselves. Any revitalization of the philosophy of the American Founding must follow—not precede—a new reassertion of that political will, sine qua non.

We let two generations be propagandized to hate the country in our public schools and colleges.

The people who still understand Americanism are mostly over 50.
Some of us did raise our kids right despite the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Propaganda, but not enough.

Judging from current events as reported by the mainstream media, it seems not.

I try to inspire my kids to buck that trend.

Not just America; Western Civilization too.

But God has the last say.

To back up the essayist's point: On July 4th a purely philosophical movement called Propertarianism died an ignoble death as the "leaders" of the movement allowed BLM to hijack their one public Meet Up in Richmond, Virginia.

It is the poison in the minds of our ruling elites that is the biggest problem.

They envision themselves as "citizens of the world".

They think they have more in common with Chinese commissars than they do with a mechanic in Ohio, a farmer in North Dakota, or a small business owner in Arizona.

The vast majority do. But our business and political elites have hijacked the republic, locked themselves in the cockpit, and are plunging towards the ground at full throttle like the Flight 93 hijackers when the passengers revolted.

Trump's election triggered that reaction, just like the passengers did. Now state and city governments run by Dems or RINOs are ruining the economy, allowing leftists gangs to run riot, etc., until Trump loses. It's an elite temper tantrum after the soft coup failed. And they don't care if they ruin the country.

Like Satan in Paradise Lost, they would rather rule forever over the ruins of America than suffer a Trump administration for one day.

No. We have a political will to separate from the godless, morally depraved, racist, entitled socialists. Let’s get to it.

"the Political Will to Live" is entirely insufficient.

That is the mindset that would embrace the Mark of the Beast at the forfeit of one's soul.

We must either have the will to fight to protect our freedoms, or die a martyr, perhaps both.

Jer 18:7-10
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;

If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.

And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;

If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

I can’t remember if George C. Scott’s PATTON said this to Malden’s Bradley or to someone else: “I need a WAR!” Anyone remember that? It stuck, because I’ve found as a believer in Jesus Christ that spiritual opposition enlivens me. All the nicey nice claptrap that comes in with prosperity and the need to protect it, kills ambition. Who wants the harder way? If we had something to be excited in again as a People, though...

MUST-READ article.

However, it does not acknowledge the hand of the Almighty in the affairs of we humans.

(We must pray constantly for our leaders and our nation.)

That said. From article:

What we need now, to quote Senator Marco Rubio, is “less philosophers” and more leaders with ambition and talent in the fields of politics and war sufficient to inspire Americans to exert their political will again, to own and govern their space, and to make themselves—if they will—into a noble people worthy of their dominion.

Our president fits this description.

I know to a lot of freepers the only thing worse than a leftist/BLM/Democrat is a secessionist. Sorry but a divorce is WAY overdue. Yes. You could call me pro secession.
