The Second Circuit Court of Appeals this week temporarily blocked an $83 million dollar payment that President Donald Trump owed to E. Jean Carroll in her defamation case while the Supreme Court mulls intervening.
The court order granted Trump's request for a stay, provided he increase his bond by nearly $7.5 million.
Carroll, in 2019, accused Trump of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman's dressing room some time in the 1990s. She brought separate legal claims for defamation over his denials while in office and after leaving.

I honestly don't think Trump's appeal in this case is very strong. Apparently his legal team is pursuing a "presidential immunity claim," which doesn't seem applicable to a state civil case.
Personally, I think a better argument could be made on the basis of the entire case constituting a violation of the Sixth Amendment. A person can't possibly defend himself against an accusation in either civil or criminal court when the accuser can't even establish the YEAR the alleged incident took place.

The problem is this crazy beotch will never lose one cent even if the Supreme Court overturns the NY court.
Unless, they overturn and Trump sues her in civil court to recoup the damages to his reputation.
This is no different than Blaisy Ford who accused Cavanaugh of unwanted advances when they were in college. That woman had absolutely no proof either.
I remember an old ‘Run For Your Life’ weekly tv series with Ben Gazzara that had this same plot in the 1960s.
A woman accused him of rape, and he found that she had lifted the whole plot from a fiction book, including much of dialog during the attack.
There is generally a store employee who guides a woman to try-on dressing rooms. And she is always nearby to help get another size, and/or get ready for sale or put back on rack. What kind of shop was this supposed to take place???

Appellate courts don’t rule on the substance of the case. They would consider the ridiculousness of her accusation to be a substantive matter, not something that fell under the purview of the Sixth Amendment.
