June of 2020 has continued the run of record setting numbers of background checks and gun sales for this presidential election year.
The National Instant background Check System (NICS) recorded the highest ever number of checks in a month in June of 2020. The total number was 3,931,607. The number is misleading because the number of checks done for permits and permit rechecks has outpaced the checks done for gun sales.
June of 2020 has reversed that trend by a little. Only 1.77 million of the checks were done for permits and permit rechecks. More than 2.1 million checks were done for gun sales.

The formula used to estimate gun sales from NICS checks, as provided by the FBI, is checks for handguns + checks for long guns + checks for other + 2.5 x checks for multiple guns on the same form.
The category of other consists of sales where the firearm is not classified as either a handgun, rifle, or shotgun. Most of those are probably for lower receivers. A lower receiver could be made into either a pistol or a rifle or a shotgun. A growing number might be for pistol gripped firearms that shoot shotgun shells, and are over 26 inches in length, but do not have a shoulder stock. They are classified only as firearms.
Such estimates cannot, by their nature, be precise to a few digits. They are a good estimate of the number of guns sold for that period of time.
2.13 million guns sold in one month is an extraordinary number of sales for June. It is a record for the month. Every month in 2020 has been a record,

We are set for a record breaking year.
I used to think that Obama was the ultimate gun salesman. Recent years proved otherwise, now it’s the Democrats and country club Republicans.
No. It is the "FLOYD-19" rioters (who, of course "are" Democrats). I'm thinking about adding to my stock of both guns and ammo, and getting a CCW. Too bad Texas doesn't yet have "constitutional carry".
I did my part. Bought two firearms.
“If the current trend continues, as seems likely, more than 20 million guns will be sold in 2020. According to NSSF estimates, 40% of those sales are to new gun owners. Eight million new gun owners can have a very significant effect in national elections.”
It is entirely possible that the 8 MILLION new gun owners will vote for Trump, and not for the party that is instigating the riots.

FReepmail me if you want to be added to or deleted from the list.

Hard to believe considering the stores are running out of firearms.
The small shops around here have been stripped clean for a number of weeks now.
If Trump is reelected, it’s coming.
If Biden is elected, it’s coming.
Conclusion: Yup, it’s coming.
Ammo also.
I went to Cabela’s and bought out 1/2 of all of their .223 ammo. They had 4 boxes on the shelf. Zero 9mm.
The DNC-Soroznazi-gangsters are turning our communities into a third highly dangerous world shith@le like Lebanon or Syria. Its ESSENTIAL we are always prepared now to self- defense and defense of friends family neighbors - the police cant even arrive in time to defend you 98 percent Of the time and if you happen to be in D-controlled cities they may be under orders not to
“Over 10 million firearms sold in the first half of 2020. “
When police show up to citizens door and ask for the guns 95% will hand them over.
A week or two go I was looking for an AR-10 upper receiver and barrel on the net and couldnt find a single place that had them in stock. Finally found a buddy who was willing to trade one for some 5.56 ammo.
Even 5% of gun owners outnumber all the police and military in the US. And "if" such confiscations ARE begun, that percentage will increase rapidly.
“No. It is the “FLOYD-19” rioters...” [Wonder Warthog, post 2]
Best disease nickname to date.
This big a buying surge might have more than one cause.
Don’t forget that many inmates have been turned loose from jails and prisons, with the excuse that officials did not want CV-19 to spread among the inmate population.
Even before the incident with George Floyd, and before the coronavirus scare began, antipathy toward law enforcement had been climbing in many jurisdictions. This was already inducing police reluctance-to-engage: not in any a reflection on the character nor professionalism of LE personnel, but an all-to-human response. Police who perceive that public hostility (from whomever) is on the rise cannot help but suffer some loss of enthusiasm for their duties. And it can only get worse when they realize that they might get infected as a consequence of saving a citizen, or apprehending a suspect.
Taken all in one gulp, such factors can cause even the least attentive, most peaceable citizens to look more closely at their personal and family security situations.
I can't claim the originality, but thought it worth passing on.
An Internet statistic based on years of study. Which orifice did you pull that out of?
Better name IMHO: FIDO-19.
We peace loving fly-over types are now seething with anger. As a life-long pacifist (personally, not on national defense issues) I am a new gun owner. I study safety rules, sign up for classes...hell, I just got a range membership. Turns out I love going to the range, and I love learning about weapons.
Can anyone recommend a good sane gun forum? I want to learn as much as I can before Biden repeals the 2nd A and tries to have us all killed.
A Form 4473 does not register the gun to your name under current law. Walk out of the gun store with your purchase and sell it for cash and there is no crime.
Katrina 2005 was the last time local government went rogue and sent cops to search homes for guns. Lots of new laws forbidding confiscation in emergencies resulted.
If police knock on doors, “Are there any guns in your home?” is about all they can ask. That’s bad enough because it means a mayor or governor has gone full Gestapo and has sent out the flying monkeys, but it’s not like UK, Oz, or NZ where the po-po already know where the guns are.
Look at blue states like NY, MA, NJ, CT, etc. Mandatory registration of “assault weapons” for years now. Compliance rate? About 10%. Where are the mass arrests?
Record breaking NICS checks, gun purchases and ammo shortages do not IMO mean a majority ready to vote for “Turn ‘em all in, America!!” Biden or his sidekick Beto the Gun Grabber.
