In the meantime, Senate Bill 64 says this: ” A person is guilty of unlawful paramilitary activity, punishable as a Class 5 felony if he: 1. President Donald Trump has achieved more concrete progress for blacks, gays, and Jews than any other American president. That claim is sure to be disputed, if not mocked, by those for whom grievance and identity politics are a profession or a psychological crutch.Yet it remains true — and was thrown into sharp relief this week, as the Jussie Smollett case turned from one of the most horrific attacks in recent memory to the worst hate crime hoax in history. There are two reasons the media, Hollywood, and the Democratic political elite believed Smollett’s claims.First, he belongs to several victim categories: black, gay,...

The house in New North End is one of three homes that he and his wife own. Burlington VT is 85% white and less than 5% black. Unlike the Old North End, which is diverse, the New North End has an older and more conservative population. The average household income is $80,000, and a number of the elected officials have been Republicans. Despite Bernie’s socialist image, he chose to...

For those of us who spend far too much time following the news these days, it is easy to feel that everything is falling apart. Regardless of your political ideology, there is no doubt that this country is politically divided and facing serious challenges. To make matters worse, we are entering an election season. Politicians will be trying their best to convince us that we are one vote away from choosing between Nazi Germany and Venezuela. Yet, as we gather with friends and family this Thanksgiving, it is worth remembering that, beyond the headlines, things are actually pretty darn good....

Comedian Dave Chappelle was honored with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center this past weekend, and Chappelle used the occasion to tout his support for the Second Amendment right alongside the First Amendment. Chappelle informed the audience “I did not write a speech.” During his impromptu remarks, he defended freedom of speech when talking about comedians he knows who are “very racist.” “(I) don’t get mad at ’em, don’t hate on ’em,” he said. “Man, it’s not that serious. The First Amendment is first for a reason. Second Amendment is just in case the First...

  • Let’s Be Clear, (Democratic Presidential) Candidates Use a Lot of Filler Phrases

Wall Street Journal ^ | November 20, 2019 | Lindsay Huth and Lakshmi Ketineni
Here’s the deal: Presidential candidates issue plenty of pointed barbs in debates, but they use a lot of filler language, too. Phrases such as “let’s be clear” and “the end of the day,” buy the speaker time to collect themselves, think ahead and formulate an answer. Among the Democratic contenders, the fact is, Vice President Joe Biden utters them most frequently (and “the fact is” has been his most-used phrase). The Wall Street Journal identified 23 commonly used three-, four- and five-word phrases and their variations spoken by candidates during the four Democratic presidential debates and tracked the number of...

Vice President Joe Biden is known as a gaffe machine. He regularly produces headline inducing gaffes. How much of this is simply the changing media landscape is uncertain. It may be many Progressive politicians produced copious gaffes, but they were simply not reported to the American people. John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson's industrial level womanizing and promiscuity were well known in Washington, D.C. The American public was kept in the dark for decades. From the seattletimes.com: While saying he supports the Second Amendment, Biden called the absolutist arguments of some gun-rights supporters “bizarre.” Noting people can’t own machine guns or...

Michael Bloomberg has plenty of reasons to hide his true intentions and plans. They are opaque by design for many reasons, one of which is that it gives him multiple options, depending on how things play out. Is Bloomberg, the possible Presidential candidate, the reason he is “the greatest threat to Trump’s re-election?” Uh, no. Is Bloomberg’s money “the greatest threat to Trump’s re-election?” Again, no. The greatest threat to Trump’s re-election is Bloomberg’s data project, or as I call it, Bloomberg’s big data machine. Why is it big? According to media reports, he has spent untold tens of millions...

You know what the problem is with toys these days? They're just too much fun. But don't you worry, because Senator Bob Menendez (D-Somehow Acquitted) is all over it. The New Jersey Democrat, along with fellow busybodies Ed Markey (D-Mass.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) are "urging action" from the Consumer Product Safety Commission on the vital issue of toy guns that look cool. They demand that federal regulators "issue new, stricter controls on toy, imitation, air and BB guns" because the existing regulations allow for toy guns that don't look totally dorky. Except... they already do look totally dorky. As...

Gun maker Stag Arms has announced on November 18, 2019, it is moving all its operations from Connecticut to Wyoming. Connecticut passed stricter gun laws after the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown. The AR-15 rifle maker had announced in June that it would be leaving Connecticut for somewhere else that is more business friendly. It plans to be relocated to Cheyenne by the end of the year. The company said in a statement on November 18th, "Not only is Wyoming an incredibly hospitable place to do business, it is also a top destination for outdoor recreation,...

For the last 50 years, I have been hearing or reading versions of this argument:The Second Amendment is clear. All we have to do is bring a case before the court(s) and we win. Why doesn't the NRA, local lawyer, local defendant or whoever, just push a case forward? The law is clear! When I was young and naive, I wondered the same thing. Why wasn't the NRA bringing a Second Amendment case before the courts, and specifically, to the Supreme Court? A more general question is: How do judges routinely escape consequences when violating their oaths of office; when implementing...
  • Tacoma Gun & Ammunition Tax Passes City Council Unanimously

On 12 November 2019, the Tacoma City Council passed its controversial tax on guns and ammunition. The tax is based on a similar tax in Seattle.  The vote was unanimous, 8-0. 112 people were reported to have spoken on the issue. To an ordinary reader, the tax would seem to violate the Washington State preemption law. The Washington Supreme Court held differently in 2017. It voted that a tax was not a regulation. One judge dissented, writing it was obvious the tax was aimed specifically at firearms. From the opinion: That different inquiry centers on the language of the preemption...

A state senator from Luzerne County said Tuesday he is changing his party registration from the Democratic Party to become an Independent, and will start attending caucus meeting in Harrisburg with the majority Republicans. John Yudichak said in a statement that he is leaving his old party because he is weary of “'purist' politicians who demand that you choose a battle camp. You must pass their litmus test, and declare if you support ‘us,’ or ‘them.’"
