Carroll Shelby is gone – thank God. He is thus spared the indignity of knowing his name has been affixed to a device that’s neither a Shelby nor a Mustang. It is a device that pretends to be both. More finely, a device that trades on both those names in what is arguably the most embarrassing-ever attempt to do just that. ELVIS impersonator VIDEO AT LINK................. Let’s begin by talking about the device in question. It is not a bad device – as devices go. But it is as much a “Mustang” as an Elvis impersonator is Elvis. It’s worse,...

DETROIT—If President Trump’s trade war has a physical battleground, it is Michigan, where companies and workers are already feeling the beginning of an onslaught that could blow a hole in the state’s economy. Nearly 20% of the economy is tied to the auto industry, which has become increasingly dependent on parts and vehicles from Canada, Mexico and China—imports Trump hit with steep tariffs in recent weeks. This trade has grown so large that Michigan ranks fifth in the nation by the size of its imports and exports, even though its total economy ranks 14th. Detroit’s automotive executives have shifted into...

U.S. — After the grotesque pink design of the new Jaguar was leaked to the public, the nation's gays have confirmed they are not really interested in the new car and will just stick with their very gay Mustang convertibles. "We appreciate Jaguar trying to market to us by being extremely flamboyantly gay, but we already have the gayest car known to man, and it will never be topped: the Ford Mustang," said Chandler Borgins of Los Angeles, California. "We'll just stick with these, thanks." Experts say the Mustang, which has long been a gay icon, has been purchased...

Executives at Ford Motor Company, General Motors (GM), and Stellantis are begging President-elect Donald Trump to keep in place President Joe Biden’s Electric Vehicle (EV) mandates. The plea comes as automakers have invested billions in EVs that have failed to turn a profit. In March of this year, Biden issued a federal regulation to begin phasing out gas-powered cars, requiring American automakers to produce EVs and ensure that by 2032, the majority of new cars sold in the U.S. market are electric. Since then, Ford, GM, and Stellantis have staked their futures on EVs. The results have been bleak as...

1st Gear: Ford’s New EV Plan Means More Hybrids Last week, we reported that Ford was canceling its plans for a three-row electric crossover as part of an adjustment to its electric strategy because of cooling demand for EVs. Now we are getting a better look at just how much that strategy is changing and what it’ll end up costing The Blue Oval. Chiefly, Ford is expected to take on $1.9 billion in related charges and write-downs. The cancelation of this three-row EV comes after Ford said in the Spring that it would be delaying plans for the model by...

Ford is unveiling its newest electric vehicle this week. Ahead of its official debut, Ford teased the new EV, claiming “the legend is back.” Ford confirmed the new EV will be revealed on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. It was the first of a 2020 deal with VW to use its platform as it looks to revamp sales in the region. Described as a...

A mechanical engineer with a zeal for quality, Petersen was only the second person outside the founding Ford family to lead the automaker. Donald Petersen, a former chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Co. whose focus on quality, unbridled product design and a collaborative workplace helped the company recover and prosper during the mid- to late 1980s, has died. He was 97.

Less than 24 hours after lowering prices of its 2023 Mustang Mach-E models in Canada, Ford Motor Company has followed suit in the US, reducing MSRPs of all trims to adapt to slower EV demand. Lease programs offer additional discounts in the US, making the Mach-E more affordable than ever. Additionally, Ford has added new incentives for the F-150 Lightning. It’s been over four years since Ford first unveiled the Mustang Mach-E – an all-electric crossover SUV that took one of its most celebrated nameplates and adapted it for the EV age (met with a mix of love and hate)....

Electric vehicles are the future, they said. They’re the quintessential pain in the backside that isn’t worth the money and a resource drainer for the working family. Who am I kidding? These cars aren’t for people like us. It’s for rich, wealthy, woke whites who think they’re doing their part in going green. They’re really setting up their families to freeze to death when the battery dies as temperatures dip. In Canada, one man detailed how these vehicles were the greatest scam of the modern era, given the $130,000-plus investment he sunk into this cockamamie lefty idea. When the EV...

Ford has said it will postpone $12billion of investment into EVs because its current generation of electric cars is facing a 'challenging market'. The new plan will see construction pause on some of the company's EV factories, including a battery plant in Kentucky, its executives noted during its third quarter earnings call on Thursday. Ford's EV unit, called Ford Model e, lost $1.3 billion on an operating basis in the quarter - roughly double its loss in the same period last year. Shares of the company were down almost 10 percent in the hours after markets opened on Friday. Its...

Ford repeatedly defended the proposed billion-dollar factory despite its reliance on Chinese company for key technology ... Ford Motor Company announced Monday that it would pause construction of a billion-dollar plant in Michigan involving a Chinese electric vehicle battery company. ... national security experts have blasted the company for teaming up with a Chinese firm with ties to the Chinese Communist Party on such a major investment. The plan had been considered for Virginia, though it never reached a final discussion stage. Republican Gov. Glenn Youngkin opposed the plant over China's potential influence in the plan and argued that "CATL...

Bolt-on components and conversions are a great way to modify just about any vehicle. They’re virtually all made by aftermarket manufacturers, but Ford has a plan to change that. Ford has patented a bolt-on conversion kit to turn an F-150 into a 6×6 off-roader.

On Thursday’s broadcast of CNN’s “The Lead,” Ford President and CEO Jim Farley stated that he’s not opposed to giving workers pay increases, “But if it prevents us from investing in this transition to EVs and in future products like the ones we have now like a new F-150,” they won’t do that because they’ll go bankrupt. While discussing the pay raises demanded by the UAW in negotiations and pay raises for CEOs, Farley said that they have offered pay raises and are open to big pay increases, but the 40% that the UAW is asking for is too much...

Ford is retiring three internal combustion engine models – the Escape, Edge and Transit Connect – to make room for new electric vehicles. Legacy automobile companies that have been producing internal combustion engine vehicles for decades have been addicted to their gas-powered models as electric vehicles began to make their mark over the past dozen or so years. Those companies have slowly begun to make commitments to transition to all-electric, but some have been changing at a snail's pace. General Motors (GM) - Get Free Report rolled out its Chevy Spark EV in 2013 before launching its popular Chevy Bolt...

Ford is reversing course on AM radio. In a tweet today, CEO Jim Farley announced the company was backing off its decision to release new vehicles without AM radio broadcast capabilities. Instead, all 2024 Ford and Lincoln models will be able to tune in to AM radio. And for the two electric vehicles released without AM radio capabilities, a software update would be pushed to restore it. The announcement came after Farley said he spoke with policy leaders on the “importance of AM broadcast radio as a part of the emergency alert system.” A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced legislation...

Ford Motor Company will make history by importing its next generation Lincoln Nautilus from China — the first time ever to do so. The move comes as backlash mounts against a planned Ford plant in Marshall, Michigan, that involves China’s premier electric vehicle battery supplier. This month, Ford executives announced that the Lincoln Nautilus will be made in China and imported to sell to Americans in the United States. Previously, the SUV was made in Ontario, Canada before being shipped to the U.S. market for sale.
