The Trump administration has moved forward with its effort to return a controversial Confederate statue to Arlington National Cemetery next year. The Office of Army Cemeteries submitted final plans to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts on Thursday to return the Confederate Memorial to a small section of the cemetery where more than 400 Confederate soldiers were reinterred in the early 1900s.

The state’s 1,800 municipal clerks are prohibited from using President Donald Trump’s federal voter database intended to flag noncitizen voters, the Wisconsin Elections Commission ruled Friday. Accessing the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database would be “impossible” because state law bars clerks from sharing voters' personal information, the bipartisan commission determined in a unanimous vote. That law supersedes a U.S. Supreme Court ruling last month that allowed the Trump administration to move ahead with creating the database, commissioners said. Despite voting for the guidance, Republican commissioner Robert Spindell said he was frustrated with the two other Republicans on the board,...

Welcome to the 2026 midterms, a months-long contest to prove who is the manliest man. Oh, and to win control of the House and Senate. You’ve seen the highlight reel: Abdul El-Sayed repeatedly calling his opponent a “beta.” James Talarico firing back against GOP attacks that he is “too low-T for Texas.” A sweaty Beau Bayh, running for Indiana secretary of state, pumping weights in a campaign ad — one of many candidates flaunting their physical strength to break through with voters. Democrats are desperate to prove they’ve learned their lesson after men propelled Republicans to victory in 2024. They...

Imtiaz Mohammad is running as a Republican – but he calls Pakistan his “motherland” and says anything he does will be “related to Pakistan.” After losing as a Democrat, he switched parties. His real goal: elect as many Muslims as possible – commissioners, congressmen, everything – until politicians must come begging the Muslim voting bloc. He wants all Muslims “on one page.” He is not running for Americans. He is running for Islam and Pakistan. Why is the Florida GOP still featuring him? Florida, do better. ... You may have come across this recent story of Agatha Christie in the 21st century. A University of Wyoming student was arrested after police say she tried to poison a colleague, then attempted to flee to China when officers questioned her. Aili Wang, 32, was questioned by campus police after surveillance cameras set up by a coworker experiencing medical symptoms allegedly caught her rinsing his mug with liquid from her own cup on Oct. 1, according to a University of Wyoming police affidavit, which added that she was seen on camera “taking photos and manipulating notebooks.” Wang didn’t get along...

On a cold, drizzly day in July 2026, Nate Lewand and his fleet of whitewater rafters passed by Black Canyon, an obsidian-colored gorge on the Main Salmon River in Idaho. As they rounded the bend, they spotted a woman standing on a narrow sandy beach far too small to hold a tent. She wore clean linen clothing, military-style boots, and carried a burled walking stick. Despite being right at the water’s edge in the rain, the woman was bone dry. She had no gear—no ropes, no backpacks, and no raft. “She was just standing there,” Lewand told Outside. “We hollered...

A convenience store employee allegedly attacked a 64-year-old customer over the price of beer, striking him with the six-pack, repeatedly beating him and apparently stabbing him with a screwdriver, prosecutors say. Qvon Turner, 25, was working the register at a store in the 1100 block of North Ashland Avenue on the evening of September 21 when the customer disputed the price of the beer, which he believed cost about $11, according to prosecutors. The two argued for about 20 seconds before the customer requested a refund. Turner refused, grabbed the six-pack and allegedly slammed it into the right side of...

The chief adviser to Argentine President Javier Milei has said Britain is being "colonized by Islam," using the election of a Muslim lawmaker in London to argue that Argentina should reclaim the Falkland Islands. Santiago Caputo, one of Milei's closest political advisers, made the remarks in a social media post that the Argentine president later shared, according to a Guardian report. Caputo cited the election of Sagal Abdi-Wali, a Labour MP who took her oath of allegiance on the Quran, as evidence of what he portrayed as the growing influence of Islam in Britain. Caputo said that Islam's presence in...

New study released ahead of November election shows 'Project Beacon' saving ratepayers hundreds of millions of dollars per winter. Massachusetts could pivot in the direction of affordable and reliable energy by expanding on existing natural gas capacity, according to a new study that says ratepayers could save $367 million per winter. Since many of those same ratepayers are also voters, that’s a figure that should pique their interest. The Fiscal Alliance Foundation, a nonprofit headquartered in Boston, highlights the benefits of “Project Beacon” in its study released just ahead of the state’s gubernatorial election. The projected savings for homeowners and...
